I can’t pretend to be a fan or not of Reice The Swoop Cook as I really don’t know enough about him but clearly at some point Steve Ogrizovic rated him highly enough and undoubtedly Danny Coyne has had some input too having worked briefly with him in the summer - I’d take the opinions of both Oggy and Coyne over Askeys decisions any day of the week(after all it was he who ultimately said no), who knows he just might have us all wiping a little egg off our faces

We shall never know.

Sad signing.
Having second thoughts on Ricketts already if this is what is to be expected.
Ex Wales international and we sign a player who couldn't even get in a lower positioned team in the Danish league.

Not too impressed by this but could be a couple of reasons for it...? 1) There will be better/more long-term options in the summer. 2) Coyne thought he was decent in the summer but Askey preferred Coleman.
Prove us wrong Charles.

Ricketts clearly states in his post match interview when asked about incoming keepers that there may well be one or two coming in
And Northwestman - Filan I rate as highly as Askey and on that basis I’d take Oggy and Coynes opinions with a lot more consideration

Filan and Pilkington didn't look up to much.

Just pointing out that he might have had some influence at the time.

I can’t but he was the manager and it’s a fair assumption that the manager has a pretty important say so in decision making when it comes to signing players within his squad

The only saving grace is that this is a short term deal.

Listen carefully, I only saw him play once. It was for Coventry against Shrewsbury. I believe it was his fust game for Sky Blues. He didn't have a save to make in the ninety minutes plus the injury time.
If he can keep that up all season, I'll be well pleased.

Warming up as I type, no sign of Arnold so the latter should be starting hopefully.

He has to doesn't he? There's only him and a young 16 year old who are eligible tonight.

To be fair John Filan said he 'wasn't interested in the goalkeeping side of things' - despite being a keeper for many a year. I always thought that odd.
We will see how this Charles Cook fella goes, I'm guessing a direct fight for the number One jersey.

if this is the best we can do then something is wrong with the scouting system or whoever decided bringing him back was a good idea

I wasn’t impressed when we ditched Leuts for a guy who had played 7 games in League 2. GK is such a key position though and we have been very lucky over the years, this is probably the weakest pair for 10 years. Just hope Arnold can kick on and become a solid keeper at this level.

I've come up with this crazy, wild, mad idea! Why doesn't Arnold roll or throw the ball out? I know this is quite revolutionary for goalkeeper to use his hands nowadays but, hey, it might work!

To be fair I think most of the loonies post on B&A From SR’s comments I get the impression Riece Cook wpups very much be a stop gap signing as cover for the bench before a long term replacement comes in. Whether that means the next few games or till the end of the season remains to be seen. Personally think the improvement in Arnold over the season has been significant. He certainly saved us on several occasions yesterday & can’t believe the criticism for knocking s couple of goal kicks into touch. maybe take a closer look at him next game he's weak a closer look as instructed yesterday & thought he was very good. The point blank save from Costa was exceptional.

The point blank save from Costa was exceptional. you mean the one costa missed a sitter on ? the one most keepers would of ambled out for and collected the one similar to the injury time goal not 1 cross he came for and there were loads when defending a corner he needs a piece of paper handed to him with a message scribbled on it that reads "come for the cross" he only saves efforts hit straight at him

Mr goalkeeper coach .
