Aidy White on a contract til the end of the season? Good to see someone else up to speed Not played for Barnsley since January 2017, but definitely a possibility. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aidy_White

I think if he was ok, the club would've said 'He's ok' by now. How about this lad as a back-up to Beckles. Has played England U-17 (9 caps) and looks the type to need a chance. Don't know much about him, apart from he's 25, plays left-back and has England U-17 form. And isn't with a club at the moment! www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jamie-reckord/profil/spieler/129063

I'd much rather allow a youngster to have a go than sign 'league one ready players" that could disrupt the squad due to a superior attitude. We have suitable back up in the form of Beckles, Sadler, Jules (when he gets back) and Shelis, don't fix what ain't broke.

If I was Beckles and knew I could play LB, (which he can), and I didn't start, I wouldn't be best pleased.

If the worst about Junior is what we expect then we shouldn’t be looking at anyone. We have Beckles and then Riley, we should trust them and trust the squad and management

Despite Junior's very good season, if I had to reluctantly chose a position where we had to lose a player to a long injury, then this would be it. But of course, it will be bad news if confirmed.

I think the issue is that we’d be very short of defensive options then, just 5 fit players with Jules and Brown out. I’d be inclined to look for a stop-gap in January - probably not as a first-choice player because I think Beckles and Riley may well be good enough, but I’d rather have a bit more depth.

I can't agree Paul. Not only has Junior got a few goals in him, but he can cross a ball. If he's out, I'll be crestfallen, not just for us, but for him as well.

His threat going forward can be underestimated. He puts in a hell of a lot of crosses each game. I just can't see someone like Beckles delivering half as many.

We don't know yet how Beckles will perform. We could be pleasantly surprised.

I know we don't want to see hopes dashed, but the delay may not indicate calamitous news but rather that the extent of the injury and recovery time is still being assessed, including response to current treatment.
The no news/good news theory may still be valid, since if it was clear cut that it was a season ending injury, we may have expected that bad news to have been released already.
Speculation will end tomorrow, but I am still hopeful; although I admit it is because I want to stay hopeful.
We could probably already do with some defensive cover come January, although like others, I would be happy with Beckles and Riley in first team action. Yes it was only the WBA youngsters, but Riley looked very comfortable at LB in that game, and he is not short of attacking ability, although Junior's genuine wing play would be missed greatly.
But let's see... tomorrow we will know more.

You shouldn't talk sense like that. You're ruining the board.

Junior brown has been one of the most consistent players this season IMO. Always puts a shift in and his energy levels are one of the best in the team . Hopefully beckles can step up and fill the gap .

That's surprised me....at the start of the season I thought LB was the the one position we didn't have natural cover for since Sad's is now a converted CB. No natural left footed full backs other than Junior so he was in truth the only one position I WAS concerned about. Hope he's ok but for me whatever happens it's an alarm bell that PH needs to cover off in Jan

Why all the hype and the big announcement? There was less fuss than this when Apple were introducing the new iPhone.

Couldn't agree more JT. Junior has been an outstanding league one left back in his time here. If anything he personifies our team - under rated and under estimated by others, to their detriment. For those who doubt Junior's importance to our team I would say this might be a similar case to when Paul Evans moved on. Lots didn't rate him, then when he wasn't there we realised what we were missing. PH obviously rates him highly as it's the only position he hasn't seriously recruited competition for - cover yes, but no one who seriously challenges him as first choice. I've seen absolutely nothing whatsoever to make me question PHs judgement of playersso far, especially as a former full back, so if Junior's good enough for him he's definitely good enough.

Well! With bated breath, I tuned in to the Sloppy's interview with Lewis Cox and Nathan Judah for the proclaimed update... only to be told that Junior was injured against Fleetwood; it was feared it could be serious; we hope that it it isn't because he is such an important member of the team; he's very popular and has played in all the games.
And that was it. It wasn't an update of anything, as it just repeated all of our thoughts at the end of Saturday's match and gave us no further news.
So now we must wait until tomorrow.
And it's far more important than a new Apple iPhone!

I think the club will confirm this afternoon. The Shrop Star are summarising where we are before knowing until the club confirm.

Now if was still a young intrepid reporter, I would be at the Sundorne training ground, at least trying to get an interview with PH, Doigy or Skitty... watching who is in the LB berth in the 1st team bib... doing some digging... doing some reporting. Come on you Star boys, get your fingers out.

Come on you Star boys, get your fingers out. normally on a thursday they have the pre-match press conference with Hurst. Bond (BBC) and Lewis Cox (Shrop Star) usually there. Normally about now, so probably find out in the next 2/3 hours. Follow updates on twitter.com/Shrewsweb

Come on you Star boys, get your fingers out. Yeah and when you break the news before the club is happy, you get slapped down and your working life becomes a nightmate. Tough job when to jump the gun and when to hold fire. At our club there are always implications for the press on that decision. That said nothing stopping a fan going up and having a look

I think the club will confirm this afternoon. The Shrop Star are summarising where we are before knowing until the club confirm. So the update was that there is no update. Therefore the headline should have read: "NO NEWS YET ON JUNIOR INJURY" Or... "NEWS EXPECTED SOON ON JUNIOR INJURY" rather than the completely misleading, "JUNIOR BROWN INJURY UPDATE" ... when there wasn't one.
