i dont see Ricketts leaving ,the chairman has backed him ,ricketts has picked the backroom staff, this is his team, his tactics, teams know how to play us and ricketts needs to have a think about how he can get the best out of his team, we need points and we need to stay up.

Slight chance we might be heading for one of those get behind the team and help us avoid relegation last few games as well.

I've never been Ricketts out but this is dreadful, he needs to prove he can change things. Problem is he's just had a perfect couple of games to do that, rather than Portsmouth away. A better calibre of manager will be available come the end of the season you'd think, rather than searching through the recycled pool now.

Of course Portsmouth away is exactly the sort of game we do win. It's the Shrewsbury way.

As a limited risk punter, I will have to check the odds on a win against Portsmouth.

Portsmouth have 6 wins and 2 draws from their last 8 home games, the best in the current 8 game home form table, and 4 wins from the last 4 at home. Saturday is really a free hit on current form but I don't expect anything other than our winless run to be extended into double figures.

Like many others I have sat through three dire performances in eight days and can understand the frustration shown at the match and on here (though I cant see the point of booing the players or chanting against the manager). That said Ricketts is making life very difficult for himself at the moment by constantly talking up the opposition and going on about how many games we have had. The cup runs are probably the only things saving him at the moment and it is difficult to reconcile the performances against Bristol City twice and the first Liverpool game with the team that has turned up in the recent league games. I do not agree that we have a squad of very good players at this level - I think several of them are being found out as the season has gone on - and it is a shame that we were not successful in bringing in a bit of attacking quality (Docherty, Grigg) in the transfer window though I am sure we tried hard to do that. At the moment we have a losing strategy and we must try something different. The wingback tactic is not working because we dont have the players who can do the attacking part of that well. How about a bit of old-fashioned (but tried and tested) 4-4-2 to get us further up the pitch and give more support to the forwards? I dont believe in changing the manager because of a bad run during the season but Rickett's inflexibility is handing ammunition to those who want rid of him and no manager can survive for long in the sort of atmosphere that is starting to brew in the home games. Best post on this thread for me. I've been asked for most of the season if I'm "Ricketts out", usually by someone who is. I've always said no. Today, I'm Ricketts neutral. I don't think the timing is ideal - - despite how bad it's been, we're not in a relegation fight and should still be able to avoid one. Added to that, we'd be having to pay out compensation to Ricketts (and probably others) when that money could better be spent on the squad in the summer and we'd be sifting through a limited bunch of other sacked managers to fill the gap. That said, the situation is deteriorating horribly and that has to stop. My biggest gripe is that Ricketts doesn't seem to accept that you can't play three at the back (which would be my preference in the right circumstances) if you haven't got the right players for it. We have no wing backs and our centre backs don't bring the ball forward often enough, so we have a five man defence and a deep lying midfield. When Stuart Dunn goes through the team and refers to Love and Golbourne "in the middle", I'm reminded of Gary Peters' horrible fondness for filling the midfield with full backs, except we know they won't really be able to play as midfielders. When we switched to a back 4 against MK, it was a more natural fit for the players and we were better in possession. Why did it take until the last 15 minutes for Ricketts to do that last night? It was a golden opportunity to try a different starting formation - which he did earlier in the season when he switched from two strikers - and he didn't take it. The frailty of our supposedly strong defence was evident again last night, as was the poverty of creativity in midfield and the inability of our strikers to work together. Yes, we had 21 shots - almost all poorly executed, many taken from unrealistically hopeful positions - and Bursik didn't have a single save to make. Ricketts can be criticised for much but the players have to shoulder some responsibility too. I long ago stopped believing that this was a play off quality squad only being held back by a negative manager and I don't expect to be converted to that faith under this or a new manager either. But it can and should do better. Two final points: Well done Stanley, a club I like and who thoroughly deserved their win. Second goal was messy but the Clark-Grant play for the first was excellent, whether or not we might have defended it better. A lot are saying we should have kept Okenabirhie and time may prove them right (if we could have kept him beyond this season of course) but Jordan Clark is a player I really do wish we'd kept on and I wouldn't be averse to re-signing him. He can make things happen and we don't seem to have a player who can. And finally, whether Ricketts in or out, I salute him for stepping forward to applaud the fans after the final whistle. That strength of character and I admire him for it. I was neither clapping nor booing (both perfectly fair responses) but I would never join in the bearpit mockery of him for doing it.

Jordan Clark certainly looked very comfortable last night, John Coleman is certainly getting the best out of him.
