I don’t wish to get involved in a private quarrel, but I the ‘idiots’ comment to be a reference to an earlier post by Pilch.

Tell us something we don’t know That’s not sub £250k That says at least £250k with add ons We all know that And no mention of him wanting to settle here "Holding out from £250k" generally means thats what they want, although i'd imagine £225k with add ons might have secured it. Either way, he's an international now with 17 in 13 and being touted at £3m, potentially one missed though he might not have setlled here. Think the member posting about Shankland was merely suggesting they wished we were a little more ambitious in the transfer market sometimes.
I think a decent CAM proven in League One (Such as Docherty, who played in a poorer side than this!) would be worth spending decent money on. You could ofset the wages against clearing some dead wood from the side, there's a couple who could go.
Morrison was a proven goal scorer at a higher level it proves nothing in the way of can you still do it docherty cant get a game anywhere this season, why ? and as you said, he was part of a crap side last season, 2 ways of looking at that the only evidence I've seen from him is he is unprofessional on and off the pitch I'd guess a bit of a troublemaker, great loanee yeah but not an investment, no way

I agree with Nicko. Fans are fickle - SRs approach is getting the desired results but without being very entertaining; very similar to Paul Hurst’s, great while it’s working as fans will accept a less entertaining performance / fewer goals at the expense of victories. Personally - I like SRs approach and think he will have a long and successful career as a football manager. He appears to have a good analytical approach and plays to his sides strengths, building a solid base to avoid losing. But I can understand why everyone is not 100% behind him yet. My point exactly. And personally, I would rather draw 3-3, or win 4-3 (I know, I know) because the points total is the same. Still SR is our manager, I will go along with whatever he thinks is best. As anyone who actually bothers to follow my posts knows, I am not a sack 'em fan. Not even Askey. BUT, would you rather win 1-0 or LOSE 4-3? That would put a different complexion on things. Entertaining maybe, sustainable - maybe not.

So that leads to my supplementary question. If it has been soooooo long since we have been in the top half of L1 at the end of November then why are all of these doom merchants having a go at SR as it's patently clear that he is doing one hell of a job

The other thing is the season is a bit stop start, for example we had the excellent win against Sunderland and people were happy with that, that was followed up by a dire performance against Gillingham and then another dull draw against Lincoln. Before I'm being accused of being doom & gloom by Ricketts right hand man, I'll repeat that I think it would be ridiculous to even suggest sacking him and I feel he is harshly treated by a number of our fans. But I also understand why people have been frustrated by him.

What self-respecting Salopian guy would look twice at a girl with that history. As for me I love it when the latter two see what we have got they no longer have.

But I also understand why people have been frustrated by him. can I just make 1 thing clear, just because I've been positive about ricketts doesn't make me his 'right hand man', its becoming boring that everything I post you and others use that line I'm one of the biggest critics of all matters and dont mind saying so if I spot something I dont like, and that includes stfc, players and staff, I went to the meeting with ricketts expecting a load of bulls**t but actually witnessed so much hard work and creative planning in progress that I left there very impressed, and you have to admit, my opinions haven't been far wrong so far, and yes we all know that a defeat tomorrow, one against Mansfield, another loss and couple of draws and this all changes, of course it does, look at spurs, potch, hero to zero in months to me your post clearly suggests you don't care who is manager if we win but its the wrong manager if we dont, eg. a win is excellent, a draw is dull and boring, a defeat and you're booing from my eyes the Sunderland game was a lucky win, a game we should have well and truly been beaten Lincoln we were the better side and could have taken 3 points gillingham will have also gone away happy with a point having scored from their only real chance, a penalty, but for a couple of glaring misses anther game we clearly could have won we are Shrewsbury Town, scr@ppy, unattractive football is pretty much a guarantee, (we are not alone) I've always stood by whoever the current town manager is, even askey, check on here, not once did I shout for his head, what askey produced is pretty much what I expect as a town fan, ricketts is currently giving me better than I expect, I'm really hopeful for a decent win tomorrow, I was actually at Cummings house yesterday taking him his new boots and told him I want a goal from each foot tomorrow ;-) chatting to him again today and he was quite chuffed about how we are performing at the moment what would be great tomorrow was if the 'fans' came up with a decent ricketts chant imagine the moral that would inject into 'everyone'

Never more that today have I wanted to run on the pitch and hand the ref some glasses you were not the only one I suppose more annoyingly was the final score 3-1 down and we went for broke and I could only see it benefitting them, but wrong, no sooner we levelled and looked like the only winners we didn't and that's what hurt

We were 9th after beating Swindon away 1-0 (super Richard Scott on his scoring run if I remember rightly).

Being padantic we’re not now! With 23 teams 12th isn’t in the top half (nor the bottom half) 11 teams above and below so half way...

Agree he he was awful but we didn’t lose because of the referee, we lost because if 3/4 defensive errors ......

With your view was Pierre lucky to escape punishment as folk in block 19 were talking of a head but?

I can live with an incident packed 3-4 loss if it makes no real difference to our season, which I suspect will be the case. But that requires hindsight and that'll have to wait a few months. So, an efficient 1-0 win it is, please!

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but I think a tenner a time on a one nil Town win in home matches would show a decent return.
