EP5 for the season now live and its a big one!
Fans were let into the Meadow to witness Salop gift all three points to an under strength Northampton side in a disappointing second half. Brad Walker comes in for lots of praise, we discuss the 1000 fan trial and it includes an interview with Lewis Cox about the last few months and the behind closed door games. Bumper episoid.

This weeks Salopcast (7) looking back at the Gillingham game... an early one this week. Are lessons being learned by SR How long can we go without a win in the league? Has Barnett moved ahead of Cummings in the wide forward position? Does any team have a better two CBs in league one that Pierre and Ebanks? Is Scott Goldbourn the most impressive player so far this season Is there a mentality problem? This and much more soundcloud.com/salopcast/202021ep7

Latest Salopcast live after a two week break. Lots to cover... the end of the transfer window, a rubbish performance but much needed 3 points at Wimbledon and where next for Project Big Picture! Good words for Salopian Ryan Barnett who's enjoying a break though into the first team too... soundcloud.com/salopcast/202021ep8

Well, what a week. Two poor losses at home, signing of Charlie Daniels, town dropping down the league, fans losing patience, the same old patterns repeating. Rickettsball 2.0. Is this the time town should be starting to think about the future and is that a future without Samuel? We also have an interview regarding gambling sponsorship and the gambling industry in general following the news story about Richard Hill and the EFL recent statement on the matter. ITS A BIG ONE! soundcloud.com/salopcast/202021ep9

Hello chaps,
It was really interesting to hear the extra interview at the end of the podcast this week about gambling. It would be great if you are able to do more slightly 'off topic' stuff like that - especially while the football on the pitch is all a bit samey!
Secondly, I just wanted to say a big thank you for continuing with the podcast regularly when the football stopped earlier in the year and we all entered lock-down. It helped me keep some resemblance of normality during a very strange time!

A third pod this week as we get a bit of respite from the troubles of the League Season. Salop ground out a gritty win in Cambridgeshire thanks to two long range stunners!
The question section returns and we look ahead to the return to crisis mode with Swindon next up in the league.

Thanks for Listening PILCH Cringeworthy this episode to be honest Ok Given away 4 points after 85 mins ? But we’ve Claimed 3 extra after 90mins was up I do however agree with the fitness I wasted my time suggesting vela as left back ok but in stepped Daniels , I think if I faced both of them vela would break me in 2 but I’d slip past Daniels with the ball 😜 Same as Pugh ,really and I pointed out very early in the season some of our centre backs had turned into statues since last season change the manager but it’s probably not the cheapest or simplest answer I’m concerned the poor fitness is linked to Pitt’s departure , do we know what happened there and why and who does what he did now ?

Fair point on gaining points, but over the course of SRs time we have thrown away points way more consistently than gained them.... Would also strongly argue that his approach to sit back has cost us wins when they have been there for the taking (but i agree there is an argument for saying that approach won us points) Away from all that its clear that that approach always has risk... particularity now when we you point out fitness seems low. Anyway creditworthy is harsh, that was one point from 100s Agree on Daniles but Vela, more likely to snap you in half and get a unneeded red so hes not the answer either. The Center backs, we covered in detail. I had my two points on that - Now we are back to three at the back, it was mad to let Beckles go and not replace him AND im convinced we had a bid for Arron int he summer, he had his head turned and we said no move... suspect that plays a part... I also pointed out we seem to have reached a point where the majority of posts backing SR not to be sacked focus a lot on it being two expensive. Relegation would be worse financially by a SIGNIFICANT degree. I guess there comes a cut point for Brian and Roland where the cost of relegation outweighs commitment to Sam. I'm sure for some fans that calculation still weights to the keep side, but even then if past a couple more games without a win i cant see how anyone can think we should keep. JP was a mental coach more than fitness... but you could argue we are lacking in the metal side of things at the moment too... He went as SR believed we would be better off without him. Not acrimonious, just the next step of Sams Plan. I know you have a different view for me, fair enough, and i did try to stress a couple of times last night not everyone wants him out. But I have personally had enough and comfortable enough to say what I feel on that.

But I have personally had enough and comfortable enough to say what I feel on that. you say significant but how much exactly , I’m basing this on the usual league 1 struggle v league 2 promotion push , I’m sure I worked out the gate would be about 800 lower but we would save on a few hefty police bills , I was also thinking if no fans are still allowed next season we might as well be in the county league can someone do a price of football style presentation ? 😜 And before anyone gets the wrong idea no I don’t want relegation , my worst fear is we get a new manager and he promptly relegates us anyway

Some good points/observations made:
The fitness levels More work needed on pressing the opposition Older players coming back from injury Conceding sloppy goals Lack of accountability No competition for places in defence

Something different this week as we recorded the Salopcast as the game was on on Saturday as town traveled to Ipswich and once again manged to press the self destruct button. Following the game we had the a chance to invite 5 fans on to talk about the game too as we have the first iteration of "The Veneting" the uncensored version of The Verdict!
The coverage of the two Ipswich goals may well go down in Salopcast History!
Enjoy
