Fee is 250k initial payment then 125k on 20 Appearences, and another 125 on 40 10% sell on clause I hope you're kidding ... Similar to a deal with got for David Linighan some 30 years ago, if its indeed that fee its rubbish

By far the best defender I have seen play for town in my 15 or so years supporting the club. I understand he wants to play at a higher level and good luck to the lad . He will be missed here , a big big gap to fill .

Exeter got £320k for Troy Archibald-Henville following his transfer to Swindon, via a tribunal.
He was only at Exeter for 2 years (signed following his release from Spurs) and is now playing for Carlisle in League 2.
I suspect we would have got a larger fee if Goldson stayed, especially if he performed well at League One level. I'll be fuming if we have only got £250k as an initial fee.

If that fee is true, it's the biggest theft since the great train robbery.

What's the source on the fee? I see that Dunk is leaving Brighton so its not like they don't have cash to spend.

If we have been daft enough to take that we deserve to be relegated, Joe Hart deal was a insult and now this. Thought we had better peeps in charge now. Maybe not .

If the above quoted fee is true then Roland is truly a fkin soft touch, and frankly we may as well jack in the youth policy if this is the best deal we can muster for such potential.

Wow. We sold a 16 year old goal keeper to Everton for £160k plus add ons yet our club captain, player of the year coming off of the back of promotion and 7 goals in 51 games last year is only worth £250K rising to £500K?
Wow, that would be s**t, especially when you think how much we would have to pay to sign a promising player and club captain from a Conference and league 2 club let alone fellow League one side.
Sounds like we have either ****ed ourselves over or been shafted somehow. This isn't even a transfer fee that touches the sides of our supposed projected losses let alone let MM to "reinvest" in an adequate replacement.

Woods is where we will get our money, another Goldson may come along (Smith?) but Woodsy is unique, how many lower league players display his level of composure at such a young age? He's special!
Defenders tend to be undervalued compared to midfielders and strikers too.
One way to look at is that we are just paying Connor back for his loyalty.
What lower league player gets a 4 year contract? After his loyalty and performances it would be pretty cruel to get in the way. However, I'd argue that if they want you, they will pay for you.

Wish him all the best in the Championship. With a Dunk seemingly on the verge of leaving hopefully he will get a run in the team straight away. Hughton seems a decent enough manager too if his record at Norwich and Newcastle is to go by so I hope he will bring out the best in him.
Certainly could play higher if he develops well enough.
I certainly hope the numbers banded around by Matron are untrue, anything less that 500k is an utter disgrace in my opinion for one of the greatest prospects from the lower leagues.

If that fee is true - i.e. 500,000 eventually and a paltry sell-on clause - that will leave a very sour taste in the mouth.

The fee suggested makes no sense at all. Surely RW isn't that daft, didnt we get £400k for Taylor? If this is true then MW and MM must be fuming.

,43 years ago we sold a 22 year old centre half to a championship club after he had played only 60 odd games in the town first team........for 100k....someone like to factor up that fee into today's money?.
Who remembers Jim Holton?

Fee is 250k initial payment then 125k on 20 Appearences, and another 125 on 40 10% sell on clause I heard 500k so this sounds plausible if not more than a little bit disappointing. If the initial fee was 500k with the add ons then I think it would be fairer - at 250k they have an incredible bargain.

If those figures are true then it seems about right. If he is as good as everyone thinks we'll soon get the rest.
Anyway good luck and all that, but now I'm looking forward to the progression of Dom Smith.

So another one of what turns out to be our great youth system has gone on to a "bigger" club and I wish Conner all the best as he is a player that me and my father are convinced deserves to join Joe Hart in the England squad. He is always a person who made time for us the fans and I for one think his choices in recent years have been near perfect with staying on to get us back up first before moving on BUT the big question for me is "How much have we actually got for him???" and will MM go fishing or give Dom Smith a similar chance like Conner had?

With it being common knowledge that Town were struggling a bit on their player budget it was always going to be a buyer's market in terms of selling players.

Judging by the club's statement, it looks as if he was tapped up before they knew, which I didn't think was permitted.
Perhaps just another example of the murky dealings of football and the lack of transparency around many transfer dealings.

It seems likely Brighton via his agent went to CG first which probably triggered the 'i've a hamstring' injury so late in the day.

The shrewsweb seems to indicate all was not well prior to the move, by stating Connor declared himself unfit on Monday!! Hmm, I guess we will never know what that was all about but no doubt many on here will speculate as to the reason why . We move on and you never know we may unearth one of our young players who will come through the system to do us proud. I can only wish Connor all the best and hope he goes on to have a long and very successful career in the higher Leagues . He certainly did us proud and will be a great loss . It will be interesting to see how our players respond to this . I just wonder what's going through Ryan's mind at the moment , will he be the next one through the door ? I had a chat with Matt Williams on Tuesday at half time, I asked him about QPR and he said he has heard nothing from them and it was a Bradford reporter that made it up, I stated it was very convenient that he is injured tonight and he told me that he rang skitty on Monday and said he had a hamstring injury, when he turned up Tuesday it wasn't any better so he wasn't fit. Obviously he wasn't going to tell me inside information but he did appear very genuine and seemed to be telling the truth.
A bit off topic but he also told me JLAA and Grando are on less now than they was originally offered at the start of the summer. JLAA only got a year because of his age and Grando only wanted 1 year - probably thinks he will get a better championship club after a year in league 1.
What a top bloke MW is btw.

No matter how much you love your parent club, 4 years wages at Championship level at a club who may knock on the door of the Premiership over that period... It would affect most of our actions...

Presumably then he did have an injury but passed his medical on the assumption that hamstrings clear up relatively quickly? Genuine question this not a sarcastic comment.

As a club, we need to move on and develop future talent in Dominic Smith and re-building our defence into the rock that was last season.
