Whilst there's not much that can be done about it, it's all about compromise, from all fans. I wouldn't dream of ruining someone elses game by standing even if some would, but equally, some people who sit can be stubborn just for the sake of it (Crippen's post about the Bradford game). Everyone just needs a little bit of give and take.

Think this thread has demonstrated how we all have different ways of enjoying a game. For some it's all about the singing, and generating an atmosphere and getting behind the team. For others it's more about taking in the ground, looking at teams tactics and only really shouting at key moments. Couldn't agree more, but the problem on here seems to be, everyone who wants to stand, sing, dance around like a bit of a prick and have a laugh, is instantly labelled a hooligans, an idiot and not a loyal fan. Every game i try and stand near the back which is obviously where the atmosphere is created, i join in with the songs and have a what i see as a good time, a bit of banter with the opposition fans aswell. But on here, a big percentage of people look down on people like me, i have missed something like 15 games in the last 3 seasons, but because this the way i enjoy games im labelled as an idiot etc etc. I respect that not everyone enjoys games like i do, i wouldn't want to ruin anyone else match day experience, i just wish that some people on here would respect the way i like to enjoy the game aswell. Good post.

Agree with Ex Keeper I enjoyed the elements of standing up at Arsenal and most games... but the Atmpshere was great at Arsenal for 90 mins and MOST of the time people were siting down in the vast majorty of the town end... was at the back of block 24 and had to stand for the whole game (didn't even sit down at half time so never experienced the lovely padded seat!!!!) as the majority of the block was standing, not that I minded.

Lucky you!!!, i had a crap view in Row 6 right behind the goal.

Dr C , unless you have a twin brother or a double (in which case I apologise unreservedly !) my recollection of you at Bury was that An interesting account – although not totally accurate. I arrived at Gigg Lane with about 25 minutes left before kick-off and even had time for a pleasant exchange with B&A stalwart Alan ‘Jamo’ James. I looked towards the back of the stand for 4 spare seats (for myself and match-day companions) and couldn’t see a space anywhere. The best we could manage was a gap of 3 empty seats and I the decision to take one for the team and position myself elsewhere. I found a decent spot in the lower section and decided to stay there. Ultimately the match began and those in front of me continued to stand. I had little alternative but to do the same or risk missing the action. It is unfortunate that some had their ‘enjoyment’ ruined, but those behind me would have had their views obscured regardless of whether I remained standing or sat down (with my proverbial jam sandwiches). Cracking memory though, old fella.

Maybe if all stadiums had a seating and standing option? An easy solution that sadly won't happen. In my opinion, you 'seaters' can be as inconsiderate as us who prefer to stand. If you are going to an away game, why sit on the back row as someone (Doctor?) mentioned? Very inconsiderate to those who want to stand and actually create an atmosphere! I fail to see how anyone can enjoy silence but it appears alot of STFC fans do! As for moaning about standing during a chance/exciting moment? That is pathetic! What does it take to get some people excited? Very glad I was able to stand throughout the Arsenal game! Yes, I am also very glad you were able to stand too. Unfortunately my old man is 90 and can only get to his feet slowly, is becoming rather stooped and cannot remain standing for more than a few minutes at a time. He did not sit in Row 12 by choice, that was the ticket allocated to him. As for the caring soul who said that the large screen replayed the highlights, well so does the internet and t.v. Why travel 300 miles return, if you are restricted to watching a few highlights on a large screen? Perhaps old people should not expect to be able to see the match from the SEAT they have paid to use. You may be old one day, and may not then be able enjoy standing at a football match. Hopefully advancing years will not affect your memory.

Good post. totally agree with you danny.. there's nothing wrong with a bit of singing and banter.. i dont see why there is so much problem with doing the stand up if you love shrewsbury.. i done it tuesday for the simple fact the stewards asked us to come and sit down so before i my seat i thought it would be funny to do it... people around me weren't too bothered about standing which i thought i was lucky as further down the block people wouldnt stand even when we scored.. but i saw before there is no chance of creating an atmosphere sitting down.. how about on saturday the whole ground sits down and try to create the atmosphere we had tuesday.. it wont happen
