What a pointless and irritating chant this can be!
All it does is obscure the view of those sitting behind the chanters.
I love to watch Shrewsbury Town, I've bought my ticket, I've got myself to the stadium, I don't need to stand up as well!
In Block 20 last night these so called 'Shrewsbury-lovers' spent more time looking at and abusing the Arsenal fans than watching the game.
If you love Shrewsbury - sit down, don't watch their fans and hurl abuse, watch the game instead!

10000% percent agree. I was in attendance with my dad, who finds it hard to stand up quickly to look over people and next to us was 3 elderly (75/80 yrs of age) who had the night ruined by fans of both sets of teams constantly standing blocking the view.
I know a certain person on here will have a go at me but is it that hard a thing to ask for people to be considerate.

Just shows there is a large % of fans that actually want to stand and watch a match. They don't want to sit down.
Just one of the reasons I've stopped going along and handing over my money. Sitting down to watch a game just isn't enjoyable.

Fortunately it was only pretty frequent last night in block 23.
Thought the Town faithful were tremendous, singing non-stop through the game, great atmosphere.

It wasn't too bad in block 23 and can only recall a couple of times when it was done while the ball was in play.

Sitting down to watch a game isnt enjoyable? Sorry but i would of Still enjoyed that game last night if I was being hung upside down by my crackers. And as for the few planks who constantly stood up in front of me in block 20, well they were'nt watching the game they were to busy blowing kiss'es to the gunners fans behind us in the upper tier. Moan over.

Due to a very dodgy knee it takes me ages to stand up. By the time I get upright everyone else is sitting down. So I get abused twice - first for being miserable for not standing, then for standing when everyone else is sitting down

Had to b@llock some halfwits in front of us as my 9 year old could not see a thing. Its ok when every one stands understand that but as every one else sits down and they are standing still , waving a tatty flag and giving the Arsenal fans the bigone it gets stupid.

Didn't think the standing was too much of a problem last night, but did find a fair few of our "fans" cringeworthy last night. Taunting home fans and one or two comments of a racist nature just do the club no good at all and made us look like country idiots who'd never been to a city before
One of the highlights of the evening was seeing a couple of numb nut Town youngsters outside the ground singing anti-Arsenal songs, only to be confronted by a large group of Arsenal fans telling them to shut up. Think the Town kids thought other Town fans would stand up for them but we just all agreed with the Arsenal fans that they should shut the #### up

Fans of many away Premiership teams stand at the Emirates and everywhere in the country for the whole game

Just shows there is a large % of fans that actually want to stand and watch a match. They don't want to sit down. They don't want to sit down? Fine, so don't bother buying tickets for an all seater stadium. Most of the those starting the chants of "stand up if you love Shrewsbury", appeared to be the bearers of "limited" intelligence, whereas those giving it large to the Arsenal fans in the top tier resembled the Mitchell brothers from Eastenders. I sat close to 3 elderly people who missed most of the action in the penalty areas, due to other people's selfishness. As did a little lad of 9 or 10 in the row in front. I do not feel the need to stand up, to show my affection for my team, my presence at a game 150 miles away should do that for me. I will be "loving Shrewsbury" at Southend, Crawley, Sheffield (Rotherham) and every other away trip this season, and will stand where there are terraces and sit where there are not.

Might have been the same loser near us too. Why you'd want to eyeball people you're never going to get near when there's a great game going on behind you is beyond me. Ignored him, wasn't going to let him affect a great night and was just proud to be a Town fan. Good to see Fabianski applauding the away fans at the end of the game too.
There was a lot of standing in our section, which was fine for me but I know it's hard for others. Thankfully, there seemed to be mutual consideration shown and it didn't seem to be a problem.

I noticed one chap red Jacket standing back to the game taunting Arsenals fans above us most of second Half That one chap happens to have been a season ticket holder for the last few years and goes to quite a few away games too. Sometimes when you're that passionate about your hometown club it can boil over at times. To say he was doing it for most of the second half is totally wrong. It was mainly after Arsenal scored so i would say for 2-3 mins.

Stand up if you love Shrewsbury was done twice to my knowledge, both times in the first half, so is it really worth complainign about.
Luckily enough I got back row seats so was able to stand for the whole game, but when I saw lots of old people coming around us I thought the atomosphere would be crap, no offence old people! But in general the atmosphere was absolutely top drawer and as a one-off I'd rather focus on the positives than the negatives.
As for Shrews fans giving it large, there was just as many Arsenal idiots, including one pensioner giving it the 'come-on' when they went 2-1 up, which was absolutely hilarious. The stewards were good.
Anyway, never mind, we're back to the sterile, atmosphereless, everyone sitting down Greenhous Meadow on Saturday

I had two lads in front of me standing up constantly for the whole first half, which forced me to stand up too. I could hear people grumbling behind me but what could i do!!! I actually prefer standing, so it was cool with me. When the lads in front did sit i sat too. I was thinking to myself we are 1-0 up at the emirates against a champions league side, potentially the biggest moment in the clubs history and people are moaning behind me about standing/sitting. It did irritate me, especially as the people behind were mid twenties and capable of standing up.
Anyhow was nice to see Sharps with the fans by the toilets - top bloke.
I also walked past Van Persie on a random side street!!!

I was delighted to see large swathes of supporters remaining stood for the duration of the game.
Excellent stuff and a decent atmosphere to boot.

He was being mobbed by a few people trying to shove camera phones in his face. He was with a bodyguard, but i just couldn't understand why he was there. All that was up that street was housing and a Maccy D's, which i was returning from.

reason it was sang so much was the stewards insisted on making us sit down so why not sing it.

totally agree with ex keeper. you expect it from kids to an extent but when you see oldies standing for no reason, it just shows what selfish people they are, and not particularly good supporters despite what they think

Wonderful, and sod the very young, the very old or the infirm, who would not have enjoyed the match, as the couldn't see it. Serlfish b******s. It is unfortunate that some elderly supporters had their views partially obscured yesterday. Personally, I wouldn’t have felt comfortable standing in front of the ‘infirm’ and was fortunate that the people behind me were able-bodied supporters who themselves remained standing. Ultimately this conflict is the price of modern football stadia and its lack of terracing. Those that want to stand are mixed with those who cannot (or refuse) to do so, leading to one type having their respective match-day experience ruined.

I prefer to stand up during games and want the return of terracing and I would attempt to stand up in a all seater stand if I was towards the back, but last night was a joke, I was on row 18 (just over half way up) and there were a group of teenage lads in front of me who consistently stood up, there was a young family behind me and the young kids would probably have saw less than half the game because I had to keep on standing up as the lads in front of me were

Serious question, what do the elderly or infirm do at an away ground with just terracing?
Just to add I wouldn't have stood if it obscured people's view but i didnt have that problem!

Perhaps we should sell the front half of the allocation to elderly, infirm, families etc and the back half to those who would like to stand, especially at such a big one-off game?
