Opps FIVE hundred now!? My God, HOW will we cope!?.........LOL 500 at £20.50 - Shame that you have now got this investment, that would have been a nice charitable donation to Mr. Bratt otherwise and I like to do my bit for charity!

No doubt if the situations were reversed, Vale fans would be saving up a few weeks of JSA to go to both.

tbf 500 is a joke lol Arsenal or not.. abit sad that you would take a 3rd round FA cup draw over a 3rd v 4th League clash! I suppose it just goes to show how fickle fans can be.. enjoy your tuesday night down london against Arsenal reserves :/

There is only one winner for people who have to choose between the two.

stop monaing about the price as an excuse!! Look at the average prices for league 2 grounds this season.. Ive just paid 20quid for my Crewe ticket next week! Arsenal have given you cheap tickets cause your a lowly league 2 club and they know you will bring 4000+ and obviously its a nice stadium.. there a top european football club! We had Bradford down here last tuesday who sit 20th in the league and your bettering their support by 200 and your miles closer and sit 4th in the league!

Well said the above, yes £20.50p IS too much for any lge 2 game but using £2 or £3 as a excuse in taking just 500 up the road is not much of a excuse/reason is it!?............

You're still looking at this like you're a big draw. Other than the 3 points, there is nothing to make anyone want to go to Vale.
How many potential world class players will be on display for PVFC?
How often do you get to see a fantastic stadium for a tenner WITH a competitive match?
What other draws are there to Burslem to make it worth a night or two's stay for sightseeing and socialising before and after the match?
Away supporters are generally comprised of 3 components:
The hardcore travelling fan The local "exile" who has a convenient trip and thus no extra expenses Casual fans with nothing else to fill their diary, or take up their budget
It's no surprise that many have been drawn by the bright lights of the big city is it?

Its not just ticket prices...
Port Vale - £21.50 Ticket, Travle say £5
Arsenal - £10 Ticket, Travel Say £20
If anything the day out out Arsenal will cost a lot more, and thats the point people cant really afford two games in a week at these total costs, many have chosen to go to Arsenal for the fact that its unlikely ever to happen again, while a game at vs Vale will happen again this season, and almost certinly next season! All on the back of an expensive game on Tuesday away at Bristol Rovers!
I will be at both and frankely if we take 600 to vale on Saturday thats pretty good going considering everything happening with STFC at the moment. Saturday will be a good game no doubt and, town fans have already been stung by missing games cos of costs (we had a hugley dissapointing home attendance for the game vs Premership Swansea).
The Arsenal game in some ways masks an issue at STFC (and the lower league in general), attendances are down this season for little reason other than cost, people are making the choice to miss STFC home games as well as away games. Im sure Vales attendance is down this season too compared to average of last season?. A lot of lower league clubs are reporting the same trend thus far this season.

sorry but I fail to see why you have such a low opinion of the area when your clearly from Shrewsbury! As a fan what does it have to offer me apart from a massive walk from the town centre because you put your ground in the most stupid spot ive ever seen! Why as a fan coming to watch your team would be considering sight seeing?? and please tell me how you think the Arsenal game will be competative??

You can easily spend a day in Shrewsbury around the Town centre pubs and get a taxi for about £3.50 to the ground (the difference in ticket prices.) Vale is a case of get there as close to the kick off as possible and get out as quickly as possible. The area is a s**thole and there is nothing attractive to do around the place. And I should know, I had to live in Stoke-on-Trent for three years!

Many, many away funs used to thoroughly enjoy Gay Meadow because they could spend the day in the Town Centre. No reason why you can't now. Newcastle is still s**t, not a patch on Shrewsbury. Vale seem to think they are a massive club and a big attraction, think again!

Vale love to big up their support buy the fact remains their home figures have been consistently average since they've been in this division. They also seem to have developed a reputation for their away followings, distorted by taking a few to Macclesfield and Burton, both about ten minutes away. I suppose it gives them something to shout about though.

Why as a fan coming to watch your team would be considering sight seeing?? and please tell me how you think the Arsenal game will be competative?? 1) I'm not from Shrewsbury, although I have lived there in the past, and would dearly love to live there again. I have no such desire to occupy an industrial wasteland. 2) If anyone saw a decent land value on your plot of brownfield, no doubt your club would sprout legs and wander off as well. 3) You think that every fan goes to matches alone, without family or friends who want to do something before/after the match? Do Vale fans never make a "weekender" of games on the coast? Can you deny that London has a lot to attract people for a greater experience than 90 minutes of attempted hoofball and SCUBA exhibition in the box by Vale? 4) Of course it's bloody competitive. Arsenal can't go throwing a game against lower league opposition in their current situation, and GT isn't going to let 4000 turn up to watch an exhibition match against an STFC Select XI. Both teams will be out for the win.

i seem to remember we played Shrewbury last year and had Crewe the week after.. over a 1000+ there and then 2000+ at crewe. We dont think were a big attraction we just know that our support cant be questioned anymore by little old Shrewbury.. Look at average Home crowds and then how many we take away! The ratio means that Port Vale are one of the top teams with away support when compared to average home gates. There is nothing good about coming to Shrewsbury and to justify it by saying Newcastle is s**t compared is a joke!!

Perhaps your fans just like to watch games in more pleasant surroundings, hence the massive away turnouts;)

There is nothing good about coming to Shrewsbury and to justify it by saying Newcastle is s**t compared is a joke!! When I go to an away game I like to drive there, park up somewhere safe and have a look round the town or city. Then Have a decent meal and a quality real ale, then take in the game before heading home without getting hassle from police or home fans for attending a footy match For example at Oxford had a look round the city, in a couple of museums and had a cracking meal at a 600 year old pub - admittedly Town's performance put a downer on the day but overall it was a good day out. If you can point out a similar day out that I can do in and around Vales ground I would consider going. If not I'd rather spend my cash on a ten or so really good away days then 26 games where you just go to the game, and the quality of the day is all down to the result

Robbie Williams isn't playing which is an added bonus www.shrewsburyfieldsforever.com/
