Two years ago is past Ed we now have a new manager a new team and a massive feel good factor. Opps i forgot to say we did make the play offs under simmo that season How is Ed right? Simmo got us within extra time at a wembley when we were beaten by a dodgy corner. IF that makes him right then i am wrong ok then, but if thats your criteria for success, you will agree that Gary Peters was as successfull as simpson without squandering hundreds of thousands of pounds on poor transfer deals. Peters had alot of cash to spend you might of forgot about it. Guy madjo a poor mans nathen elder? Really it looks like its you

Would that be the same period of the game during which we had nearly all the possession but found ourselves 0-3 down because of defensive problems? The period when GT thought it would have been "a travesty" for us to be 0-1 down, never mind 3? I wonder how we managed that with a central midfield that wasn't playing well? Not sure where your "travesty" statement comes from. Turner on Shrewsweb states "we were not bad" during the time they scored 3 goals and in all honesty could have had two more. Possession is a bit misleading as far as statistics go because surely it is the time you have the ball in the other sides final third that is important and the quality of the final ball. I do find your statement that for the first 35 minutes we had "nearly all the possession" a little dubious when if you look at the match report it states that during the match we only had 41% possession (a figure I find amazing). As I stated before the 3rd Charlton goal was a prime example of midfield failing to close down the Charlton player after the ball had been lost midfield. He ran 20 to 30 yards unharassed before scoring surely its the job of central midfield to stop this. Can't find the "travesty" quote now but I'm sure he said it because it struck me at the time as a strong word to use. I find the stats questionable too - 41% possession? Certainly didn't seem that way. My comment about the first 35 mins was based on the fact that, until they scored, they hardly put 2 passes together, whereas we had long, uninterrupted spells of possession. I do remember that vividly because it's still such a novelty! Now, we didn't get a real shot in, whereas they missed a sitter and then scored 3. It was weird and, to my eyes, completely against the run of play. I can't agree that the central midfield could be playing poorly in those circumstances. I don't agree that it's all about time in the final third and the final ball - that's much more likely to be reflected in the actual scoreline. My recollection was that we played most of the opening half hour in the middle and final third. I maintain that you can't do that, especially against higher league opponents, if your central midfield isn't playing well. We didn't defend well in that period of course, and that includes the midfield, particularly for the third goal. But a 0-3 scoreline suggests we were battered in that opening spell and the game was nothing like that.

Peters was never in the same league as simmo. Did peters ever get a player as good as holty in? Need i say any more. Happy days are here again Martin you are excelling. Peters got us to Wembley with a team that were on low wages and cost £10k. Holt was a big signing but for a 2nd division side developing players is the key. In that area all we need to look at is Hart and Edwards players going nowhere when Peters over. Tell me one players besides Holt brought in by Simpson thats made the club money. I agree this is all in the past but you seem to want to constantly resurrect it. Unfortunately you post is so full of s**** that you need to be corrected. Liam the important thing yesterday was that the team was a team and they had a plan they kept to. Some players were better than lasts seasons team others I would rate as poorer but at the moment I'd rather leave it at that until we have seen them a few more times. Do you mean this one which was afters yours

Yes we scored 4 goals against Charlton's reserves. charltons starting line up against us tuesday night * 25 Warner * 02 Francis * 05 Llera * 07 Wagstaff * 15 Mambo * 20 Solly * 08 Racon * 10 Martin * 22 Smart * 26 Stadrinou * 09 Abbott charltons starting line up against leyton orient last night * 01 Elliot * 02 Francis * 07 Wagstaff * 12 Doherty * 36 Dailly * 04 Jackson * 08 Racon * 10 Martin * 11 Reid * 16 McCormack * 09 Abbott would appear to me we scored 4 goals against half of charltons reserve side, or were half the reserve side out in a local derby league game

Goals goals goals Ed. Robinson now has 5 this season.Harrold has bagged a few now and do you still think we wont get to 70 goals this season. Will still have Ainsworth to come back too. You are right about one thing though Ed is that we do need another midfielder if Leslie can get a starting place.

I'm presuming you weren't there today but I'm sure it'll please you to know that Leslie did just fine (as he did last week) so give it a rest.
