HMA was about, but at 6 years of age I doubt it registered. Thought HMA is Rob Skipwith? who is old enough to remember?

Although the IRA is at an official ceasefire, they are still active within NI, They are now a bunch of hooligans who terrorise there own, with kneecappings and and punishment beatings, but want to destabalise the british government until they NI 6 counties come under Dublin rule, which will not happen as the 6 counties has a majority of loyalists therefore the nationalist will never get the votes they require.
As for the hardline terrorists, they have had a few years off and now woulfd much rather go on holiday with there familys than bomb british base's most of them now see this as a better way of living and produces a quality of life, they could if need be form again but never in the strength as the late 70's early 80's, thefore there is little point as the IRA have nmore or less surrendered as a force against mainland uk........hence pointless chant........

however, toi follow on from that, without a doubt, the mainland uk now has a bigger thereat than the ira in al-qieda, so why do they not change the chant to no surrender to al - quieda?? or they could even shut up and join up and do somthing constructive, such aS actually defend against it or is there a real lack of morale fibre amongst the group, but hey its easier to cash your dole cheque and chuck it all down your neck prior to a simple game of footie and act hard......tits the ****ing lot of em.......

It is a Combat 18 song
We are not in Combat 18
The people who sing it aren't in Combat 18
It is pointless and offensive
It has been sung for several years. booing it stopped it being sung, to say it has made it worse is ludicrous, i used to hear it nearly every week, since it was booed I don't hear it that often.

Maybe we should start booing it again, though I do think the stewards and the club should take some responsibility for getting rid of those idiots rather than leaving it to the real fans.

Sorry dude. Born in mid 1985 Terrorism does need stamping out, however this is done when international intelligence is combined and states are working in tandom to target, isolate and illiminate terrorist cell groups and the main men/financial backers/leaders of such terrorist organisations. As dangerous as the IRA is, I doubt they have a small cell group covertly working within shropshire and attempting to destabilize peoples everyday lives and their fundimental beliefs. Hell as Paul said, there are far more threating terrorist groups than the semi retired, half arsed attempt at being legimate that represents the IRA. Media Tool? Political chanting? Football? Are you taking the p**s??? How do you work that one out? Can't say I've read many articles in the broadsheets/tabloids/local media about the invaluable job the people at the back of the riverside do by singing songs adopted by far right neo-nazi organisations in educating us to the current inadequacies of our intelligence service and the potential threat of certain groups. I doubt the goons singing this song could find their dick without their mothers guidance. No doubt I may be targeted, but then I guess they'd only be man enough to challenge me on a 10:1 ratio (incidently the sort of troop/insurgent ratio we need to restore order to Iraq). Oh and thanks nobhead for giving my name away

Rob I think you over estimate the "knobheads" at the back on several counts 1. They are mostly dickless 2. They have probably been disowned by their mothers 3. They don't have minds of their own - they just copy what they hear other dickless supporters sing 4. They only attend matches to make a nuisance of themselves. 5. They rely on the "herd" for some kind of mutual glorification - no doubt they feel smug when they get a reaction. 6. Getting a reaction is their equivalent of achievement. In short, they are the equivalent of the unflushable pooh that you find in squalid toliets - they emanate from A*******s which are overfed on cr@p and only find fulfillment in the most unpleasant of surroundings

I have to be honest and say that when im down the meadow i normally hear it once or twice. However as soon as the booing starts up they very quickly die down and resort to shouting abuse/threatening us (from the back of course) I always remeber it being much worse, both home and away in the past before the booing started up At least by booing it we are showing that we will not tolerate it and are prepared to stick our necks on the line by actively opposing it. Which is a lot better than just accepting it and remaining quiet.

I think the main reason for the extra emphasis on that song this weekend was because it was St George's day. Perversely, instead of being an occasion to unite Englishmen in a celebration of pride and untiy, it is hijacked by the brown floaters of our community to draw attention to their sad attempts to save our souls. Clearly they are unable to distinguish between "our souls" and A*******s. As a result, they end up with a massive collection of the latter

what proves they are all a bunch of "wannabes" is when telfordshrews went up there and asked who threw the coke bottle and none of them challenged him.....if they are as "'ard" as they like 2 think, they would have given him some stick, but they just continued 2 sing... what annoys me is that its basically a massive group of teenagers, a few i know and couldnt hurt a fly!!! they seem to follow the "example" set by them "up the back" and think its the best thing since sliced bread. they argue with each other as well if someone starts to sing and others dont join in, ???like oldgit said, they are there to be a pain the arse. as for do they support shrewsbury, im not so sure, dont see half of them going 2 away games and fundraising events. they really do get on my nerves with some of their racist chants....for god sake, who cares about wrexham etc concentrate on shrewsbyr town football club, i mean afterall, isnt that what you go to watch the town for, to support them and encourage them onto victory???

Emma
you speak a lot of sense, and you have nailed the true nature of the clique at the back - they are harmless and easily lead. Sadly, amongst them are a few hardcore tw@s who exert influence, and once you are in their orbit, its difficult to break away. As for supporting the Town - its why normal, sensible folk go to matches. You can probably see the flaw in that argument when it comes to these idiots?

Emma you speak a lot of sense, not bad considering im wrecked! LOL but in all fairness the boys up the back-hardly men are they - get on my tits....really do annoy me. they sing pointless songs which have no relevance to wot is going on,doesnt exactly encourage the team to perform does it? there are some people up the back who are nice lads who i get on with, so im not tarring everyone with the same brush, but the majority are just a bunch of wannabes who think are soethin speacial, but are sad individulas who like 2 do nothing more than cause trouble ....and i can see the flaw in the arguement, they aint normal people

regarding your message what the **** has the IRA got to do with Shrewsbury.?? Where you not about a few years ago when the IRA bombed shrews castle and tern hill barrocks, you pr**k, no wonder people sing the no surrender song, it's closer to home than you realise. Terrorism needs stamping out and gets publicised at football matches as it's a powerful media tool. clever stuff if you ask me, i know a lot of clever people who feel stongly about the IRA , don't underestimate people. you are obviously the same idiot who posts as 'myddleshrew' just out of interest as you admitted singing yesterday what has the pope done to upset you ?

I've never heard this song at Old Trafford, either from home or away fans. Any thoughts on why the Premiership seems to be free from this type of 'political' overtones?

Maybe we should start booing it again, though I do think the stewards and the club should take some responsibility for getting rid of those idiots rather than leaving it to the real fans. It was booed on Saturday, as it always is. The real fans should never have to get involved - the stewards have never been effective in policing the Riverside yobs. The solution is to prevent these people gaining access to the Meadow. Its surely the easiest, and most simple action to take?

You can be a known racist yob and still gain access to the meadow with a periodic slap across the wrists
as long as these people are worth £6 / £12 a week then we will have to learn to live with them somehow

Small rural market town culture. The one thing that is noticeable when going to the 'big city' eg Manchester is the range of differing cultures that exsists as opposed to Shrewsbury. The people that sing this crap are poorly educated and informed and never get much further than Shrewsbury. So they know little of what goes on in the outside world. Just to fill you in Islay we are talking about FOUR people here that have about 25 wannabees in tow.

Just to fill you in Islay we are talking about FOUR people here that have about 25 wannabees in tow. That's interesting. I know that there's a lot of bad press about people going to Old Trafford, not being 'true supporters'. To an extent that's partially true. There is an element of 'prawn sandwich munchers' and 'day-trippers' at every game. But an awful lot more are just as fanatical about the team as you guys are about yours. So everyone is too concerned about getting behind the team. I don't think it would ever enter anybodies head to start singing songs about the IRA. It's a pity that such a small number of kn0bs are creating such a problem for the rest of you. Credit to the guy who faced them down. I suuspect that at Old Trafford he would not have been alone, and the matter would have been sorted there and then. But, maybe that isn't the best way

when England play at Old Trafford, as you would expect it becomes a Haven fo the No surrender, but then hey its an England game How have you come to post on here Islay Malt? Like at all Englang games, the 'fans' come from all over the country. Note the variety of club flags. So the usual @rsholes always turn up. Regarding me posting on here, as I've said before I have strong Shropshire connections. I also posted a congraulations when you beat Everton, liked what I read from the regular posters, so pop back now and again to join the banter. I even laugh off the "manure" and "Van Diver" taunts. I do try and defend the Reds whenever I can and think that me and JP are becoming friends There's still along way to go with the likes of Gpricey and Exkeeper, I'm afraid. Their afection for Anfield appears too deep. I even came down to see the games against Mansfield (where I had a brief conversation with TBH) and Camebridge.
