Moore covering his tail again.
Director of football, Micky Moore said: “I’m delighted to welcome Gareth and Richard to the football club.
“I think it is a massive coup for Shrewsbury Town to have them here.
“From the moment we started the recruitment process, Gareth and Richard were our number one targets.
“I’ve known Gareth for a long time. He was the standout candidate. And he is someone I have always admired for the outstanding work he did at Wycombe.
“He brings to this football club an enthusiasm and a wealth of knowledge having managed more than 150 games in League One. He is exactly what we need. “I’m sure, in time, we will be able to build a football club that will really make the town and our supporters proud.”

A fantastic appointment. He has got one hell of a job on his hands to keep us in this division. The players need a massive kick up the arse! If we go down, the future is more optimistic. However, he needs to be backed to make changes where necessary. This club needs a winning mentality.
Welcome to the madhouse!

I always thought there was no point sacking Hurst as we will end up with a nobody replacement to see us through to relegation but this is a great appointment.
This group of players will not be suited to his style but hopefully he can string a few results together and then work his magic in January.
At least he was able to see all of our issues clearly in the last two games.

So game on then. He won’t suffer less than 100 per cent or poor players.

Not really, he can't really lose. He takes us down and it's Hursts/Moore fault, he keeps us up and he has a massive accomplishment on his CV.

Hopefully town have covered themselves in the event Ainsworth is wanted by Wycombe at sometime in the future. I expect Matt Bloomfield the present manager to be a wanted man the way his team are playing. Ainsworth had a fantastic 10yrs there so you couldn't blame him for wanting to return. In the meantime hopefully he can do a job for us. Certainly the best man for the job. Good luck to him.

Best of luck, Gareth – you have your work cut out with this squad!
Here's hoping you still have all your hair come May...

Hats off to the chairman - It would have been easy to hire a bargain bucket manager to last until the end of the season but he's pushed the boat out to get Ainsworth.
Hope we can all see this as a momentum boost - Ainsworth has a lot of time before the Birmingham game to get his training methods across.

congrats on the new manager, worked wonders on a shoestring at Wycombe. All i can surmise is that he has had insight into your impending takeover and assurances by Rocket Ronnie that there will be money to spend come January. as long as he hasnt strengthened the team by the 16th Jan of course

Well done to the chairman, excellent appointment given where we are. Completely new direction as he will undoubtedly demand full control of the first team with Dobson.

Some comments from Wycombe fans:
manchesterchairboymanchesterchairboy 2:07PM Best of luck to them both, except on those two days as Brownie says. I feel like these two are two that need time (which they got with us and obviously didn't with QPR) so as long as Salop give them time, they will be a resounding success
glasshalfemptyglasshalfempty 2:12PM I’m really happy Gareth Ainsworth and Richard Dobson are both back in football. Given time they’ll have Shrewsbury Town challenging at the top of League One.
MindlessDrugHooverMindlessDrugHoover 2:21PM So glad they've gone to a likeable club. Hope they can keep the Shrews up but that the apprentice becomes the master when we play them.
NiceCarrotsNiceCarrots 2:57PM Fantastic news for The Shrews, two of the finest in fitba.
Gave us some of the greatest ever moments.

Great appointment that. Give them time and they will work wonders. Richard Dobson is one of the greatest assistants this country has ever produced. Giant of a human. Now we have to play you twice. That will be tough! Good luck apart from against us

What a first interview. He’s given me fresh hope. Those players will have to give their all or else they’ll know it. Bring on Birmingham, let’s sing loud.

If that first interview does not get you excited for the future nothing will. You can tell he means what he says, very likeable character.
I'd love to see a ticket incentive for the Brum game. Lets get the place packed with Salopians and get behind the lads!

I’ve just watched his interview - what a refreshing change!! He’s obviously done his homework on the town and the club.
If those players think they can get away without giving it their all for him, a few of them will be seeing the exit door sooner rather than later.
I don’t care how he achieves it, let’s just see some performances where everything has been left on the pitch - no regrets and some general positivity around the place.
Good luck GA

Good luck Gareth! It won’t take him long to work out the deadwood by the sounds of it. Contract length? Undisclosed.
