I’ve just watched his interview - what a refreshing change!! He’s obviously done his homework on the town and the club. If those players think they can get away without giving it their all for him, a few of them will be seeing the exit door sooner rather than later. I don’t care how he achieves it, let’s just see some performances where everything has been left on the pitch - no regrets and some general positivity around the place. Good luck GA I agree entirely. Great interview which clearly shows his intent.from his angle and what the players will need to do to stay with STFC.

Good luck Gareth! It won’t take him long to work out the deadwood by the sounds of it. Contract length? Undisclosed. Same with MT and Hurst. I am assuming the head coach role is open ended like a normal job?

In the circumstances a good appointment and good first interview. Hard hard task to keep this side up though and without the immediate investment of new players could well be heading into a tough league 2 season next year as well
Good luck to him and his coaching team

What a great interview all of a sudden I’m full of hope not dread. When he said “ believe you me those players will be crawling off the pitch” it was so good to hear, bet most of them are so looking forward to it! Best of luck Gareth we are 100% behind you.

Before today you had no hope of staying up this season. Now you have some hope of staying up this season.
I think you just might do it. It'll be exciting anyway. Good Luck!

Moore covering his tail again. Director of football, Micky Moore said: “I’m delighted to welcome Gareth and Richard to the football club. “I think it is a massive coup for Shrewsbury Town to have them here. “From the moment we started the recruitment process, Gareth and Richard were our number one targets. “I’ve known Gareth for a long time. He was the standout candidate. And he is someone I have always admired for the outstanding work he did at Wycombe. “He brings to this football club an enthusiasm and a wealth of knowledge having managed more than 150 games in League One. He is exactly what we need. “I’m sure, in time, we will be able to build a football club that will really make the town and our supporters proud.” are you having a pop at Micky moore for earning a living ?

Great signing. Knows the division, his Wycombe team played good football and scored goals (!!) and he’s a bit of a character….Rock n Roll! His first words certainly inspire hope, and juice me up far more than any other manager we’ve had for a long time. And if he doesn’t pull off the Houdini act then no fault of his. Give him a crack in L2. Floreat Salopia!

Wycombe fan in peace.
Gareth is a solid appointment for you guys and he will bring a shot of enthusiasm to the squad.
Also prepare for onslaughts of "how do you watch that every week". As well as rock references
Here is a song to get you up to speed:

Not really, he can't really lose. He takes us down and it's Hursts/Moore fault, he keeps us up and he has a massive accomplishment on his CV. And he gets paid either way
Don't think he has so much to lose as Hurst, who was in the last chance saloon, either. A relegation for a hopeless mob likre ours wouldn't blot his cv too much.

Simple question? What happens now to Sean Parrish , will he be discarded or offered a job in the new set up. ? put it this way, if saturday & last night was a weeks trial for Sean I'd be letting him go early, no idea what his contract is but I guess he gets a clean sheet now like the players and better shape up quick

He will presumably tell the players that it's not necessary for the ball to cross the line to score a goal

Good appointment on the face of it, and if I'm not mistaken, a chance to repay us for a cheated goal when he played for Wycombe back at the GM... Think it earned them a draw and they beat us to auto promotion by a point in the end?

Up to now the squad inherited by Ainsworth has been appalling, but football people look at potential. He will see 2 players who were in squads that won promotion from this division with great runs in the second half of the season, (Shipley & Winchester), he will see 4 loanees bursting with talent who want earn new contracts with their clubs. That should give him hope that he can organise the dross into a unit that can bring the best out of the talent. Here's hoping anyway! All the best young man.

I think we got the best manager we could probably go for, brilliant move.
No chance Ainsworth has come in on a short term deal or without reassurances of budget in January and positive takeover talks.
I wonder if Roland had to speak to the potential owners to put together some sort of collective decision.
Going for Mangan or Maamria would have suggested a short term decision with no interest if a new owner

Can we all agree that in our circumstances this is a great appointment by Roland? Can we all agree that if it doesn't work out there won't be the usual derogatory posts about Roland's manager picking abilities?

Can we all agree that if it doesn't work out there won't be the usual derogatory posts about Roland's manager picking abilities? At the risk of bringing things down a notch, my only concern is whether the promises made to Ainsworth in terms of the possible takeover and future funds come to fruition. Hoping to quote a phrase that we can walk the walk as much as we can talk the talk about the potential at the club All the signs are that a brighter financial future is on the cards which is great, just hope it all comes together. Ainsworth has a good track record, but without that investment and ability to significantly improve the squad I can’t see him being able to achieve any more than Taylor and Hurst managed

The loanees and Winchester and Shipley aside based there must be a question mark against Savin based on his in consistency.

Yes I think this is a great appointment (following some poor ones)and I hope Ainsworth is given time even if we are in Div 2 to change the fundamental culture of the club
