Can we all agree that in our circumstances this is a great appointment by Roland? Can we all agree that if it doesn't work out there won't be the usual derogatory posts about Roland's manager picking abilities? Yes I think this is a great appointment (following some poor ones)and I hope Ainsworth is given time even if we are in Div 2 to change the fundamental culture of the club This is a good point , we really need to stick with this guy even if he leads us into league 2 , we need to put any sort of judgement on hold for 12 months regardless what happens this season , it's time we adopted some patience for a change

I’d be really surprised if he keeps the back room staff as it is. Changing culture and creating positivity in the dressing room when you have people that have been there for a long time is a tough ask.

Well pleased with that. And he's brought his assistant. I can see it now.
Are you going to apply for the Head Coach job at Shrewsbury, Gareth?
No Mr Dobson, I think I can aim higher than that.
I like Shrewsbury, Gareth, I think you'd better apply.
No I......
Did you hear what I said, Gareth, I said I think you'd better apply.
Oh.....all right Mr Dobson, I'll apply.
Have you decided on your assistant yet Gareth?
I thought I'd appoint Assistant referee, Richard Wrigglesworth. We've always got on well.
I'd like the job, Gareth.
Yes, but....
Did you hear me, Gareth, I said I'd like the job.
Oh, all right......Dobbo...... How tall did you say you were again?

Should be a decent atmosphere now against Birmingham. Don't expect we will get a result but do expect a big improvement in effort.

He has proved his ability already and he has also shown that he needs time to get there. No doubt some fans will kick off after the first bad run (probably this season) but hopefully the majority stay logical.

Expect half time entertainment from his rock group The Cold Blooded Hearts. The group will be missing a lead singer for a while.

Can’t see him improving the players skill levels but perhaps he will get them to be more aware of their positions on the pitch . Certainly the players will be more competitive and I can see him sorting one or two who don’t come up to the standard required . I hear that he is not averse to signing older players who have had careers at a higher level . Nothing wrong with that if they can perform for the Town. I’m not expecting miracles because of where we are but at least I can see us putting up a really good fight against relegation . If we do then next season will be very interesting . However even if we go down next season we should be looking to get straight back up - hopefully . Whatever I’m very pleased to see Gareth Ainsworth taking charge of Shrewsbury Town FC for quite a few seasons . All in all perhaps our most important signing for years .

I think you’re in the more youthful “boomer” generation who want it all and want it yesterday. Us more mature folk have a large dose of realism as part of our morning porridge oats!

Ainsworth AND Dobson combined is a top appoi ntment by the club so well done to Moore and Roland. This deal would not have come cheap and GA has surely sought guarantees of money in the January window.
One concern for me is the length of contract at 18 months. That doesn't suggest a long term project to me but I suppose beggers can't be choosers. Bottom line is I'd have taken six months as we now have hope of staying up.
Let's hope GA and RD ARE here for the long term and the eighteen months is simply the first phase to stabilise the club in League 1. At that point the new owners and GA can weigh each other up and maybe re-set their ambitions for the club.

Have the club confirmed it’s an 18 month contract? Can’t see it anywhere 👍🏻
