A battling performance.
A defeat yes, but not a one sided affair as was feared by many.
No meltdown/tears/toys out of the pram tonight!

Our season will not be defined by games like today but a performance to be proud of in a game nobody gave us a chance.
I thought we deserved a point from the game.
Perry played very well considering he has not had much game time. My MOTM was Savin, some great saves.
Hoole did well against a tricky winger.
Strongest we have looked defensively so far this season whilst also having a go down the other end.
We go again.

Yep..... Shipleys bloody awful at set pieces....if this lad from Chelsea comes in..... he'll need to watch his place Hurst loves a set piece play, most of his free kicks are probably under Hurst instruction. If they come off its brilliantly clever, if it doesn't then its a waste of an opportunity.

I think there were plenty of positives about that second half, think we were better Just no one at the end of the ball. We have had tough games this August, September looks a bit better and Leyton orient don't really scare me to much

Another day another loss.
No points from 3 games.
1 goal scored, and an xg that supports that. Only Wigan with a worse xg so far.
It wasn't awful but continually going into games expecting (and getting) nothing. There aren't many sides now where I think many people would expect any points. Leyton Orient next week is definitely one though, so need to get something. after that it looks pretty rough going

So something has to give next week. In the meantime, it's worrying that yet again we can only field 6 subs once we have a couple of injuries. And 2 of those were probably only half fit. The squad is at least 3 bodies light.

No meltdown/tears/toys out of the pram tonight! You sure about that? Just from listening to Radio Shropshire, I damn well hope not! With any luck, perhaps agreement that all is not quite lost; from what I heard, there IS something to build on; we seem to have a good replacement for Marosi, but the centre-back situation is a problem, but the midfield, with Perry, seemed to function better

We are rightly expected to finish bottom on paper, but today although losing we have made a good account of ourselves and it will still be confidence building for the players. I still feel Hurst can pull something out the bag and keep us up this season.

The squad is at least 3 bodies light. The ability to try and affect games is hugely reduced when you don't have enough options off the bench. And those on the pitch still struggling to gel. Still plenty of time. I'm sure it will be better at times this season, and it's not been universally crap but huge questions remain about how the hell this side is going to score enough goals to keep town up

Pleased for Perry though. Did like him at times last season, and definitely think there is a decent player in him.
Was listening to In the Stiffs this morning about the fact that missing the first couple of games doesn't necessarily mean you are off and not in the managers plans. I had presumed Perry was in that camp but maybe today shows he still has a future here and a role to play

Early days, but it looks like Leyton Orient, Cambridge and Burton may be at least 3 of the teams we hope will finish below us.

Yes, our goal lived a charmed life at times and their number 14 was running riot on our right innthe first half. But that was a decent battling performance appreciated by most who were there with a standing ovation at the end. The Shipley set-pieces were wasted opportunities. O'Reilly - and Sagoe when he came on - looked good. And a big shout out to Winchester and especially Perry who worked their socks off in midfield. Savin also seems to be growing in confidence.
Obviously another defeat but if we show that kind of spirit every game we'll start picking up points soon.

I was dreading been thrashed today. It seems strange that only losing by a goal was not that bad. whilst I would have liked a point town seem to have had a better game, it does not sound like town got outplayed against a team who beat Peterborough 0-2
Having so few options on the bench does cause difficulties for Hurst in how he can influence a game. He is still trying to work out the best options through the team and did some fine tuning . I don't know why but this is bloxhams third poor game. We need to get some points as we don't won't to be too far adrift at the bottom

Think Perry has done well so far, Bloxham is offering nothing for us down the right. We are still in this. Perry gave 100% today , did the simple things but tom , very disappointed in him today , tallest guy in the pitch , can't win a header or even challenge for them , hasn't got a left foot , never attacks the ball , can't mark , never gambles on someone else's run , there was a great chance in both halves had he gambled on the ball being put in , nsiala was livid late on after flicking a throw in on begging to be attacked , he was a spectator today , how he stayed on the entire game is beyond me Apart from that , I think it was a 3-1 kind of game but at least at 1-0 we hung in there until the end and gave us hope at least , Savin produced a couple of great saves today , shame it seems we've be ordered to opt for the dodgy goal kick to the wings again , aiming for a guy who's never won a header

Some positives today, we deserved to lose but we had plenty of fight & created chances.
Today isn’t the sort of game that will define our season.
Bloxham was rubbish today, which in my opinion he has been all week.
It sounds like this Chelsea lad is the final loan and agreed, sounds very highly rated and lots of championship clubs & Rangers showed interest allegedly. Do worry that we still need another CB & another proven CDM. I also think we need another ST but I think that is the least of our concerns right now
If the opportunity came up to sell one of Bloxham or Shipley in the final week I’d be all for it to generate funds to improve the squads weaknesses.

Well done Town, not the absolute thrashing a few on here forecast . Hope we build on this performance and go out and perform next week . Hurst will get us playing to our strengths when he sorts out the wheat from the chaff and I think these early season games will gradually inform his decision making . All very well playing up at Sundorne it’s during actual matches that counts . We need a few more in but remember it’s early days .
Keep the faith , a lot of football to be played and yes, please get Shipley off dead ball situations. It was the same last season when he and Bayliss contrived to repeatedly balls up more or less every free kick situation . Mind you Bayliss tended to take the actual kick whilst Shipley stood with him no doubt offering advice . Oh well, we move on , I still forecast a top half finish 👍

Bloxham Out !! Nuff said !! 🙄 In league 1 you can’t just put your head down every time you get the ball and run down the wing and cross with your head still down.

When Tom came back from his loan at Morecambe I felt that he returned a much better player and that he would continue to progress. Sadly that's not been the case so far this season, albeit it's early days.
He looked lost today.

Really no point bashing Bloxham. Young inconsistent player that on his day can win us the game and on others nothing goes right for him.
He has his strengths and his weaknesses but he always gives 100%.
