Josh Feeney has gone back to Aston Villa to recover from his hamstring injury. Therefore a loan space to fill? I think he is still classed as a loan player for us and will be back when fit again. The curse of the injured loan player from last season lives on.

It’s a strange old one when on the one hand we’ve sold record season tickets, and on the other hand this looks like being one of the lowest attendances for a competitive, non-FLT game in modern memory.

I still dont understand why the first round game isn't scheduled to be the opening saturday of the season , the only time Ive know it was when we went to Leeds and lost 4-0, I think its a great step from moving from a friendly to the league kick off, must be a reason , probably the premier league are involved It was often the first game(s) of the season back in the late 70s/early 80s. Town fans were mightily impressed (not!) When we lost to over 2 legs the week before the 78/9 season. Didnt work out too bad in the end though. oh yes, I remember late 70s, we beat stockport 1-0 at home, then went there and lost 3-1, might have even led 1-0 there, they went to old Trafford in round 2 I remember listening on the radio , they led at old Trafford with a minute to go and lost, cant remember if 2-1 or 3-2 forget Burton, that was my 'what if' at the time

Whatever us fans think of the Football League Trophy and the League Cup, with regards to the latter, a long as there is a chance of drawing a Premier League or a Championship club I'm sure the club will be doing their level best to progress. So I would be surprised if we changed things about too much tonight (as I doubt there will be a great deal between the two sides).
Looking forward to this one though, see how we get on, as we should be looking for a much improved performance from Saturday (considering who we are up against).

Don't see the downside to going far in this cup - the new changes (big teams not playing each other until later rounds) could actually help us financially if we get a draw vs a big team?

I hate that the early rounds of the cup are just seen as a means to reaching, and then losing to a big team. The early rounds themselves can offer excellent games, and I’m looking forward to tonight.

Good point, a big cup tie could make a massive difference to our finances. It will take more than a Cup Tie to rectify that "situation" Maybe it wont? I have no idea what current situation our finances are in after all the positive changes to increase revenue partnered with the sale of Sraha and the reduction in the playing budget. A big cup tie could easily make the difference between a loss or a profit this season. Could be a drop in the ocean of a continued spiralling loses but I like to be positive until I learn otherwise.

They've closed the West Stand for a number of seasons for this competition, I'm not criticising the club because I appreciate it is more cost effective to do that, but personally once the club decided to do that, it felt a bit of an end of an era and the competition was being treated like a Pizza Cup game. A shame as we have some good memories from over the years (although plenty of bad ones too!)
As for tonight, we haven't got a huge squad anyway so we can't make too many changes and I think that Hurst will want to keep a settled side, perhaps Feeney may come back in for Pierre and that's probably it, unless there are injury/fitness concerns.

Yeah I’m sure all the Sunday Lunch’s sold & £50-75k for Sraha will sort it!

Have tried to ring the club a couple of times today and not had any luck (may well just be an issue with my phone) so does anyone know if the Telford bus is running for this one? The updated travel plan does provide pick up times for evening kick offs (although it seems it's not possible to reserve a seat) but given the expected low turn out just wondered if they are bothering tonight or not.

If the west stand was open I would have gone. It's a personal thing, but i like where I sit and more importantly the community that's developed in my area. One or two mentioned they had found a good stream of the game on Saturday, would you be kind enough to pm with the details 👍

Can you report back as to whether it helps with the atmosphere and support for Town (with one or two moving over to the South)? We might make a bit more noise without the West available.👍

Sometimes when chanting starts in 19 and 9 they overlap in a tragic cacophony.

Josh Feeney has gone back to Aston Villa to recover from his hamstring injury. Therefore a loan space to fill? He is still on loan with the club, he is just having his recovery with them. We also have space for 2 more loans. 5 are allowed (Feeney, O'Reilly, Kayode) only 4 allowed in the match day squad at one time?

I thought it was 5 in matchday squad (unless its changed since last season)

Mind you some can smell the ripe stench of relegation even at this early stage . Cup games just allows them to hone their senses to perfection .

But regardless you can have 5 loan players in a match day squad and town only currently have 3 players on loan (including Feeney)

We had 6 for the whole of the first half of last season but there was so many injuries I don't think they ever got to naming 5 of them in the squad

A great big Shropshire welcome to Kopthis. You are still there aren't you, a true supporter. Must be nice when County get to play league 1 opposition these days.
