Our trip to Burton Albion and our game with Exeter City at the Croud Meadow have been brought forward for TV. Town will still travel to Burton on Saturday, November 9, but the fixture has been moved forward to a 12:30pm kick-off rather than 3pm for Sky Sports +. Additionally, our fixture with Exeter City which was scheduled for Saturday, October 19, will now take place at 8pm on Thursday, October 17. This fixture will be shown on Sky Sports Football. www.shrewsburytown.com/news/2024/july/30/town-to-appear-on-tv-twice-as-latest-selections-announced/

I’ll bet some Exeter fans will be grateful it’s on TV but I’ll hanker they’d prefer it to be a more northern team.

Strange playing on a Thursday.
Would the Wrexham games be moved as well due to Policing? I seemed to recall the last game at the Meadow being on a Sunday.

Somehow I feel your Exeter game won't garner many away fans!
Our game against you in September hasnt been moved yet, but I highly anticipate it will be. Was that the 3-0 embarrassment we suffered in our relegation season?
our last game at the Gay Meadow was of course a very exciting affair and was a midweek jobby...

I have to give some credit to Sky they have kept their word on parity for all the clubs in the two lower divisions.
The so called big clubs in our division have no more live games than the likes of us and Crawley etc…….so far.
Can’t recall the last time town played on a Thursday night? I’m sure someone will know.

Not sure if it was the last on a Thursday night but a very famous last game of the season in 78/9 (also against Exeter). As was the weekend before at home to Rotherham was on the Thursday as well. Cant be too many more id guess.

Did we play Bradford away on a Thursday night in 17-18? A 0-0 draw. I seem to remember watching it on tv due to work commitments

Certainly Thursday night games are useless for exiles. Still we must bow down to the mighty sky whatever.

I can see lower attendances from both home and away fans with games played at awkward times for fans.
If you lose (say) 10% ofyour attendance will the compensation cover it or not?

May do financially but not atmospherically I suspect. It’s the changing world of football I’m afraid and now it’s come down the leagues it will never go back. I doubt I will be around much now.
May well start looking at non league to be honest.

Exeter brought quite a few last March when won 3-0. Don’t know why a Thursday night attendance should be worse than a Tuesday.

I’m not bothered what they do but it’s too far mid week from Yorkshire when there is work the next day. Certainly will put off season ticket purchase in future years.

I’m confused but then again maybe it the website. On the fixtures part of the town website they have us playing Crawley not Exeter but the calendar has definitely updated to Exeter. 🤯

I know a couple of season ticket holders who will probably be asking a refund soon.
They moaned enough about having the Peterborough game moved to 12:30pm on a Saturday; they also work into the early evening so the Exeter game being might be the final nail in the coffin for them?

Yes it all feels a bit of a con getting people to fork out for season tickets and then games mived at the whim of sky. Surely the EFL clubs knew this deal was in the offing?

I would be pleased if that was the case, but I don’t think either team have 3 international players, so likely to go ahead. Possibly Police might request a lunchtime kickoff. I will be in Dublin for the England match so missing it. It looks like I won’t get to an away game until 21st September at Mansfield due to kick off time at Stevenage and other events clashing.

They only sign money grabbers at end if careers dont they?

Yes what seemed like a nice little earner is already starting to look like a real pain with most people used to Saturday or Tuesday 3 pm and 7.45 pm now becoming like a martini …. any day any time any place!

They were fully aware this could happen, games get moved for all sorts of reasons, wouldn’t imagine there’s any grounds for a refund. Theres risks involved in going early bird not even knowing what league you’re in or when the fixtures will fall but you get a great discount. Now you don’t like the fixtures you want a refund?

With months of notice I really don’t see a problem.
And as for that Exeter game being moved to the Thursday, I always find rare Saturday without football during the season to be a nice treat so already looking forward to planning something with that day.

It’s crap them moving games but it’s been very very well publicised this would be happening, long before season tickets were on sale.
To be honest, we’ve been lucky with our extra 3, two home games and local match moved by a few hours isn’t as bad as it could’ve been. Just ask Exeter fans!
