34 year olds are better than no one! Not if they prevent us from spending money on decent younger players later in the window. It’s still May for goodness sake!

Tommy Leigh signing for a League one team for 100k. Surely can’t be us unless we’ve had that money that’s owed to us.

According to the journalist Alan Nixon (for the Sun....I know!) we are after a keeper from Man United. The story is on his paid patreon account do can't see a name, although chances are it's an 18 year old I've never heard of.
But the last keeper we had from Utd didn't turn out too badly.

Having looked through their squads , most likely name would be Dermot Mee 21, born in Birmingham. No senior appearances or Radek Videk, who made 20 appearances for Accrington last season.

Heard that we are looking at someone released by Blackburn - Ben Fyles or Ethan Walker (wingers) ? maybe Jay Haddow (right back) ?

Harry Clifton former Grimsby player has just signed for Doncaster, staying in league 2.
Many suggestions online thought Hurst would be looking for a reunion with Clifton, hard working typical Hurst style of player.
Wonder if the likes of Doncaster are offering better terms than can, as people expected Grimsby born Clifton to only leave for a league 1 move

Similar age and experience as Deano too when he came. Seems rated and positive reports from Accy in League two last season. Makes sense to look next at full season loan at higher level. Although this is at least the 5th keeper mentioned on here, and nobody signed yet. With the Euros happening though, and so less time for tours/friendlies for premier league sides I would imagine, I wonder if it might mean earlier possible loan deals? Let's hope so. Quick look and Utd only have 5 friendlies in place compared to 8 last season.

And he's a local Grimsby lad too so Doncaster might be a lot more attractive than moving to the other side of the country in a league one dogfight

The goalkeeping situation will be interesting with Harry going and Marosi's having an offer. I wonder if it will be a superior No.1 and a youthful understudy (possibly on loan). That youngest that C***erill had on loan at Forest Green from Norwich looked like he saved his bacon (Pun) a few times. Dont think too many clubs want to loan a keeper to sit on the bench, if there’s No 1 keeper in place.

I would have thought that Hurst would maybe have enough confidence in young Beckles to start the season as our back up keeper.

Just to add to the above, Mata has signed for Auckland. Should be announced today.
Can’t imagine they could afford to pay much for him. Surely a six-figure loss for Town. Really poor business.

I formed on opinion after half a dozen games that he was not L1 standard and I didn’t foresee that he ever would be!

Really poor business. you think we paid 6 figures for him ? I have no idea but I very much doubt that, I would guess it was more like 10-20k with a load of adds ons that very likely none were met oh, well I guess being ambitious has its risks at times

I could be wrong. Was never going to work unfortunately. He made his name in Ireland scoring loads of headers, and come over here to join a team that didn’t have any genuine attacking wide players and didn’t cross the ball.
