I just saw the highlights but Biden was incoherent went of topic and rambled, you would hope the Democratic party now act and put a new candidate forward.
If not American voter are faced with no good options.

This affects us every bit as much as our election and probably more so. The Democrats need to find a more acceptable option to the crook or the uncertain times we’re living through will ensue and probably become more worrying.
Speaking to American friends, they are really concerned that Trump will be back in power.

It was certainly an uncomfortable watch - Biden did America (and democracy) a great favour by beating Trump last time but surely should have just served one term and paved the way for a candidate from a new generation of Democrat politicians to take on Trump.

When someone the other night said were Sunak and Starmer the best we’ve got, they’re streets ahead of Biden and Trump, and we should at least be grateful for that.

It was certainly an uncomfortable watch - Biden did America (and democracy) a great favour by beating Trump last time but surely should have just served one term and paved the way for a candidate from a new generation of Democrat politicians to take on Trump. Unfortunately the Democrats don't have anyone else. Not one single Democrat has made any major impact in the last 4 years to even begin to compete. That is on the DNC, just as the Clinton nomination in 2016 was and look how well that turned out.
Harris would never win, Obama made it as black man because he had gravitas, flair and everything else that both the Democrats and independents wanted, she has none of that. Trump wins because he appeals to the lowest common denominator and the prejudices of the Republicans and being a nice guy won't be enough to beat him this time.
The only Dems that would be able to put up a fight against Trump are Fetterman and Buttigieg, but one is still not fully recovered from a stroke and the other one is gay, which unfortunately is still an issue to many Americans.
I fear that America is heading down a very dark path.

The debate was a joke comapred to ours. Back and forth direct slander from both of them. It makes a mockery of democracy and I bet the likes of Putin and China are laughing at how weak the west is currently. UK, USA, France, Germany all weak, there may be others but I'm not much interested in politics.
One good thing is Trump will get in now. The lesser of two evils. I would never vote for the horrible person, but my reasoning is he is a businessman. He keeps his enemies close, forging ties with Russia and China during his last term and even visiting North Korea I recall. He may come across as a grade one loopy nutjob, but somehow the world was a safer place. If anything will come from this insane US election I prey it's more of the same.

Gavin Newsome - California Governor Would be the top 2 choices, both highly regarded As always, I guess that would depend on who you ask or?  Aren't people leaving California in their droves? Isn't crime rocketing there? As is drug use, homelessness? I think if he were to replace Biden there would be an awful lot more focus on the state of California and I'm not entirely sure that would be a good thing for the Democrats. |

Biden is no longer fit to be president. Last night’s debate exposed the lies we’ve been told.
Liars and sycophants indeed. If they really do believe it was a one off (which looks a long shot considering what we have seen from him of late) then it will be interesting to see if the Democrats will be willing to allow him to prove that was the case when the next debate is scheduled (which I gather would be closer to polling day). The next week or two will be interesting anyhow. |
