Despite England's best attempts to induce stress related health issues amongst there fans or bore them to death. We have somehow managed to get to a semi final.
No disprect to Slovenia, Slovakia they are not top teir teams and we struggled to break them down as we did against Switzerland.
We now face a lot tougher opponents, whilst we are familiar to how they play.
Last twenty games, England have won five, Netherlands have won six with nine draws.
As I try to find a thread of gold which could bite me on the bum. The Netherlands looked less than convincing in corners against Turkey. And there defence looked wobbly at time when Turkey attacked with pace.

19 games played since we lost to France in the World Cup and only two defeats (Brazil & Iceland). So whilst we haven't been playing great it could be worse - look at France!! Switzerland were being touted as one of the best teams in the tournament before yesterday's game - but thought we coped with them quite comfortably. Hopefully the better the opposition the better we can play!!

Kane has been scoring goals for fun in Germany but he has not played for over a month due to injury, it is unfair to play him. top scorer in the tournament currently on 3 goals, Kane one behind on 2 im hoping the dutch fans are similarly crying out for top scorer gakpo to be dropped in time for the semi final At least Gakpo has a turn of pace, Kane appears to think he is playing in the European Walking Football Championship.

It seems odd that for the first 37 years of my life everyone complained about results and now we've one of the best records in world football everyone is bothered about performances.
You don't need to win games to win tournaments. You need to not lose.
Portugal only won one of seven games in ninety minutes and lifted the trophy in 2016.
England have looked dire at times. Some of the best attacking players we've had in a long time look utterly stifled. And we've not lost a game at a major tournament.
We won our group and we're in a semi final.
I saw Semi finals in 1990 and 1996. Beyond that it's been slim pickings until 2018.
At least the performances were good! 🤣🤣🤣

The most important thing at the top level of international football is to not let a goal in. It's very often game over if you do. That has to be why Southgate sets up to be so defensive so boring as it is I will support it if it gets us results. I really do hope England can go on and win the tournament because I'm sure there wont be enough humble pie to be had by Monday breakfast time.

www.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/jul/08/semi-final-referee-felix-zwayer-has-history-with-englands-jude-bellinghamUefa has given its full backing to Felix Zwayer, who will officiate England’s Euro 2024 semi-final against the Netherlands as planned despite Jude Bellingham making an unproven allegation of match-fixing against the referee, which he denies, three years ago. The Bellingham row occurred during the midfielder’s time at Dortmund, centring on a controversial decision to award Bayern a penalty from which Robert Lewandowski scored the winner. “You give a referee that has match-fixed before the biggest game in Germany, what do you expect?” asked Bellingham, referring also to other decisions during the game. Bellingham was fined €40,000 for his comments.

I just asked a bookie for odds treble
France Spain 0-0 , France on pens
England Holland 0-0 England on pens
Final France England 0-0 France on pens
They quoted me 1/9 on 😝

Cracking match. Loving the digs against the England team by the commentators. A credit to Linekers mates

All this love-in for Mbabbe! I’ve never seen seen him do much out of the ordinary. Just wasted a glorious chance by shooting wildly over the bar.

Enjoyable game to watch. Glad Spain won. Granted they go missing from time to time as an attacking force but once they get going they're by far the best team at the tournament.
For some daft reason I think we could do alright against them though.

First half was the best football so far in the tournament. Second half Spain virtually stopped attacking. They looked like England, happy to sit back on a one goal lead and hope for the odd chance or two while being vulnerable to a sucker punch. I was hoping for a France equaliser to liven it up again.

Tonight just too close to call for me. Will we step up and perform like we should be able to? Will we test the keeper a bit more than in the other games? Will it go to penalties, and will we be as assured as the last game? Who knows.
I've no idea who will prevail tonight and get to sundays final. But I still think Spain will win it barring some divine intervention by either us or the Dutch.
But come on England. I really would like to see the whole of England running out of supplies of humble pie for weeks to come.

Harry joint top scorer thanks to Dumfries and a dodgy VAR decision I thought Scotland were out

So pleased we don't have to out up with VAR every week. Never a penalty for me but wasn't surprised when it was given as several similar decisions have been made earlier in tournament

Their change has made midfield very crowded but an impressive half. Disappointed not to take advantage of our dominance and go into half time with the lead. Nice of Foden to finally show up. Just need Bellingham to join in now!

Good first half.
I called the penalty the second it happened.
Absolutely nailed him knee height with no chance of winning the ball.
He's been their best player with the headet on the bar and saving Fodens shot.
Foden looks like he's woken up. Just heading left to let him. Good stuff England.

Never a penalty for me but wasn't surprised when it was given as several similar decisions have been made earlier in tournament Kane kicked the defender, just as much a foul by Kane as other way round. What is a defender supposed to do, step away and let him shoot? Absolutely ridiculous decision.

The game does continue to beg the question why in earth don't we have a left footed left back. That lad from Palace. I feel Trippier has been hung out to dry. It's not his fault he's not got a left foot.
