Congratulations England , especially the penalty takers who held there nerves. I find it bizarre to Ivan Toney in an England shirt a very cocky penalty when he did not even look at the ball.
Whilst I'm relieved and very glad England got through, we yet again struggled to break down a team, after doing this now in three games and less than impressive performances, I had hoped tactically we would have come up with something. A much tougher game next. Let us hope we do something different. We have really rode our luck to get to this semi final .

I do hope England reach the final, mainly because I don’t want to see Taylor or Oliver fecking up the final. God, they were both bloody awful last night!

I just wish we would test the keeper a bit more often. Only looked like scoring twice, keeper saved one but not the Saka one. Not saying shoot every time but try it a few more times.

How about the keeper , one of the best in the world , someone like Man U would kill for him Oblak - top keeper (although I'm happy for United to continue with Onana, so no killing necessary, and anyway I prefer Mamadashvili of Georgia). Also Sesko, who lots of top PL clubs (Arsenal, Chelsea, United) were interested in till he signed a new contract at Leipzig. Slovenia aren't nobodies, but they are ranked 57th (behind Iraq, Jamaica, Qatar and Panama, for example) compared to England's 3rd. In English club terms it's equivalent to Liverpool drawing with Exeter City. What happened to your Fifa ranking argument ? England will nw finish 3rd at worst ;-)

At least we haven't got hordes of fans with the "we are going to win the final" attitude, prior to being brought back down to earth. Keeps our feet firmly on the ground with a "we might just squeeze through" mentality.

I think we keep improving every game. Tonight's shape suited us a lot more. If Kane would have got anywhere near the 6 yard box he would have 3 tap ins.
Pickford didn't have as challanging save to make. Penalties were great and it's a nice confidence boost that if a game goes to penalties that we are capable of getting the win.
Credit for Switzerland, they played well considering they had a lot less household names.
I think reaching the semi's can be classed as a great achievement this tournament. For me the pressure is off a bit now and it can be more enjoyable.

A better overall performance after switching formation and we do have high class performers like Man of the Match Saka who can turn a game with a moment of individual brilliance (and what a great mentality for him to step up and take a penalty after his miss three years ago). Kane is a real problem for Southgate - I have never seen him play so poorly for England and he is clearly not fit. If Kane is to continue to start he needs another striker with him. Konsa did well but Walker is error prone at the back and that could cost us against the quick Dutch wide players. Talking of the Dutch I am off on Tuesday to Utrecht on a week's holiday so I expect to see a few orange shirts around the place!

Kane, should of been dragged off half time...slow as a snail, overrated, overhyped.....but Southgate will play him against the Dutch next week....and van djyk will school him again...Ollie Watkins do yourself a favour, pack your bags and go home lad

Thought for the most part it was once again a pretty flat performance until we saw the introduction of Palmer and Eze who injected a bit of energy and are willing and able to get on the ball and take people on. I do wonder whether we ought to start with them. What to say about the shoot out other than the confidence shown was a world away from what many of us have got used to over the years. I do recall they took time to look into this and clearly the work they have been doing has made a difference. Great to see. Now the first real challenge of the tournament, no disrespect to the other sides we have played of course (who have more than given us a game) but what I mean is that I think Holland are a step up. As Zen says, a much tougher game. But we can enjoy things for at least another few days.

We played with 10 players ……..Kane should have been taken off at half time. He is a waste of space. I understand Southgate will bring on another goalkeeper in his place for the semi.

It does seem odd that Watkins made such a positive impact when he came on and gave us something different yet we persist with Kane and then bring Toney on who other than flick a header on and score a penalty has not done anything positive.

I guess its taken for granted this sort of thing now but from what I understand it only came into play once Southgate became manager. Pretty sure he mentioned that he didn't want others to endure what he went through having missed that penalty. Pretty sure he mentioned that there was next to no preparation when it came to penalties before then. So fair play, that's a huge difference he has made in that regard.

Impressed with the Italian referee who retires after this competition. Nice to see a smile now and again. Think he should get the final. Also impressed with the class shown by Luke Shaw who went and shook the hand of every Swiss player after the penalties.

Turkey have put some energy into their games and a win wouldn't have flattered them. But perhaps better for England that the Dutch, a more our style known entity, got through.

Yes, that's what we need, a player good enough to help defeat the Dutch and gracious enough to shake all their hands if we beat them.
