Town the better team 2nd half but a few tired legs out there. Time for some subs.

Not a penalty for me. You can tell by the reaction of our players. At least we’ve turned up today as well!

I think we need to replace some of our more unfit players with some just unfit players!

We do look a little tired. Benning looked knackered putting that out for the corner and I wonder whether he was having a good look over to the bench because he was hoping to see some changes. Not disgraced ourselves today, I think we have done OK.

Clear dive but no need to make the challange. Winchester clips him for me. Woeful challenge he was going nowhere. On reflection minimal if zero contact and sack of s**t to the floor. VAR would say no pen. Decent half, they have the quality and subs that money can afford. All about next week. Good week to prepare against a team playing for nothing. Hopefully be a cauldron at the meadow to see us home. Another game under Hurst where we have competed. Been very little under him where we haven't, good vibes for next season.

Haven’t been watching, but looks like we’ve had a good go today. That penalty decision looks nothing short of a disgrace.

Meanwhile two ex town players, Morris and Clarke have scored for Luton in the premiership to put them 2.1 up.

Done alright today, we've given them a game. Scored the one and really could (and perhaps should) have had at least another with the chances we had. Considering what we saw at Bristol it will be interesting to hear what Hurst has to say as I think despite the loss, that was better from us today. Certainly the work rate and effort anyhow.

I was worried about a good beating today but I was impressed with our performance.
After a poor first 20 minutes we came into the game and actually deserved something on the balance of play. We wasted too many opportunities and gifted Pompey two goals.
On 90 minutes whilst 3-1 down we was still full of running and closing players down in packs. Whatever Hurst has said to them this week it certainly motivated the players to give everything.
Results going our way in the main means the result does not matter too much.

One, perhaps good thing, from today? Udoh is not the great striker we thought at the moment - more chance he might sign with us at the end of his contract - if Hurst wants him.

Barring a truly appalling first fifteen minutes that was a very creditable performance. But for the hideous and sickening decision by the referee and some sharper play in the final third (not a new problem…) we could’ve got something from that.
Will miss Fratton Park when they go up, might be one of our longest trips but a proper football ground with a proper atmosphere, good luck to them.
We can get three points next Saturday to put all our nerves at ease, Wycombe play tomorrow and midweek, come on Salop.

Fine margins. We had some good chances to score plus a suspect penalty given against us. On to Saturday with Wycombe playing on the Wednesday against Derby too. Get a win and we’re closer to that 50 points mark.

Both Hurst's and Elliot Bennett's post-match interviews were scathing about the penalty. Kudos to Elliot for confronting Yengi, who from memory also fell over a lot without due cause in the home fixture against Pompey.
Players generally are just going down far too easily all over the pitch and referees are being duped all too often. It's one of the curses of the modern game.

That was a decent performance, but for some crazy defending and some poor finishing we could have got at least a point.
Agree that, on a replay, it possibly wasn't a penalty but I don't get Hurst's rage with it. The ref saw it in real time and it was appalling decision making from Winchester who stuck a foot in and gave the ref a decision to make. Stay away from the defender's toes and most likely it's a corner at worst.
Still, one game closer to safety, Wycombe surely a big chance to get the three points that would surely see us safe, although even 46 may well end up being enough.

As always, totally agree with your assessment of the match. Recovered from an incredibly poor start and first 15 minutes that followed and did enough to earn a draw but Udoh and others let us down where Bishop didn't. I will have to disagree about Hurst’s rage though. There is clear air between Winchester’s foot and their lad. He’s not been touched and dived to the floor. Sometimes the players reactions really are the truth and the ref should have read those better before pointing so quickly to the spot for contact that didn’t exist. Wycombe should be knackered come Saturday and have nothing to play for. We really should take the game to them, chance to almost guarantee safety. COYB.

Big crowd for the referee to star in front of today. Penalty aside (I can see why he gave it but he was conned by a cheat) I thought he was a vast improvement on the refs we have had in recent weeks.

After first 20 mins we created the better chances. It Portsmouth 70 minutes to have their 3rd shot on target. In fact between the 6th and 70th minute their only shot on target was the penalty.
We could easily have been 3-2.
Great you can get man of the match for taking a penalty and having 1 other shot. Shows how little Portsmouth created.

I kind of agree, and im not sure whether to have a go at Dan Udoh or not, he should have scored first half, made a mess of a great chance 2nd half , and had another shot that was well blocked, we could have been hailing him the hat trick hero, but wasnt to be, I think I'll give him the benefit and say he was in the right place at the right time and at least bought tickets for the raffle , maybe next time they go in

Interesting that Charles Breakspear has been the ref in charge of the Pompey vs Shrewsbury fixture at Fratton park for 3 of the 7 seasons since Portsmouth return to Lge one, he’s also officiated one fixture at salop over the same period, so 4 games in total out of a possible 14. Bit weird
