Strange move, he can do better than bottom of the Football League at a tiny club, as his past career experience shows
Suppose it’s “down his way” so maybe that was a pull

I would imagine so. I wonder how he will get on with the Chairman!

Not sure how well his red-blooded stylings will go down with the vegans.

I wonder if he will fancy taking any town players with him in this transfer window. There are a few League two ready players.

It’s a free hit for him really, I’d imagine he’ll only go until the end of the season, keep them up and it’s one hell of an achievement, fail to keep them up and well it was a lost cause anyway.

I do wonder when I see these happy smiley photos of Chairman and new managers signing contracts and trying on shirts of the club exactly what the new manager is actually feeling knowing that this man who is his new best friend will more than likely within the length of the contract be sacking him. Its a funny old game.

12 months ago who would have believed if you told them Cotterill would be managing at the bottom of League 2 and Hurst in League one in a years time........

Think location and the chance to get back and build his CVs important. Wonder if we can stop paying him now?

Saw though SC straight away when it took our chairman 2 years. Last few month to rebuild his career so just maybe something to prove.

[quote author=" daveyWonder if we can stop paying him now?[/quote] Yes we will stop paying SC as he now has a new job. See that FGR already have Umbro as their shirt supplier so no" benefit" to SC there

Surprised he got another job as I assume the rumours of his time here would have reached other clubs.

I hazard a guess it was 80/20 if not more in favour of Caldwell over Cotterill being a .

Hope fGR are prepared to be spending plenty of money now. SC will be on at the Chairman that he needs more money very soon after Saturday teatime.
Mind you managers at FGR dont last very long do the these days, so SC might not still be there by the end of the season.

I truly think they are a good match. Both are opinionated and easy to ignore.

A bizarre match but one of those that has the potential to work.
A rare sound appointment of Mince's regime, if his intention is to keep Forest Green up as opposed to silly publicity stunts.

In my head Cotterill is much older than he is though. Feels like he should be close to retirement in my head, but he isn't even 60 yet. Plenty older or similar age managers about. Ange Postecoglou for example is only a year younger than him!

I would think the awful experience during covid will have aged him.

think it shows no one higher up the league was willing to take a punt and that says alot. I've been saying for a while that it's evident that a lot of football fans don't want him and that's based on the type of football he plays. But if you are in a relegation battle and need to get a team organised/committed then he's a very good choice I'm surprised he has taken it because if he does get relegated then he will be associated with a team being relegated from L2 (even if he inherited a mess) and that certainly won't be good for the cv.
