Just watched back again, and that must be the most honest post match interview I can remember from a Salop Manager for along. time.
In recent years we have been fed a diet of 'cant fault the effort' / 'we were terrific' from Mr Cotterill after a defeat, or 'we were great out of possession' from Mr Taylor, 'fine margins' from Mr Mellon etc
Last night Mr Hurst didn't pull any punch's
'we were second best all across the pitch'
'I don't know why the fans applauded the players after the game'
'Feel sorry for the fans that travelled'
'Tough night, almost embarrassed'
'There are ways to lose a match'
'we are playing a proper team on Saturday and if we play like tonight it will be more than 3-0'
Well said Mr Hurst, a line has clearly been drawn in the sand and the players I am sure know where they stand after last nights fiasco.

The bottom line is he's inherited a bit of a s**t show thanks to Moore and Taylor
Think back to when he came in during 2016/17 season, he did a grand job keeping us up, but it was a bumpy road, same thing will happen here so set backs like last night were always likely.
Good to hear an honest interview

Think reading that Hurst has already decided there will be a mass exodus out of the building come the summer.
Can MM lead the way for them please.

Refreshing.
Hopefully the first person out the door is Moore followed by most of his woeful signings.
Another great big waste of money by the supposed safe pair of hands.

If we can get money for some of this shower....do it,and give as much as they can to Hurst,to get some decent players in the door.....OF HIS OWN CHOOSING !!!

Yes, so it's clear that RW's reset has been a big mistake, with PH now having to live with the consequences. MM out of the door at the end of the season please together with his mate Tom Ware, Head of Recruitment. The 2 transfer windows since these 2 have been in the building have been little short of disastrous.

Pulls no punches there, and good on him - I don't want pre scripted or off the shelf smiling Matt Taylor.
I think there will be few survivors from that XI come the summer.

The second, most recent transfer window was a wash out BUT we were led to believe that there were targets identified but once Taylor left, well that was that... and we've yet to know if Roland Idowu will be the real deal.

I think Roland should be asking the players to have a whip around and reimburse the fans that travelled to Lincoln and had to watch that performance

I think Roland should be asking the players to have a whip around and reimburse the fans that travelled to Lincoln and had to watch that performance Hang on. I’m owed hundreds then for previous awful away performances over the years. I’ve certainly seen worse than last night. It wasn’t pretty but hardly the worst performance this season (Blackpool) let alone historically.

I just can't believe Roland went down the route of getting a DOF in and the cronies beneath him.....it's costing him lots of money... something that he doesn't like.....all that money could be used to get new players in🤷🤷🤷

Don't worry though, he's a safe pair of hands.

If it brings Hurst back into the fold then I welcome it - just hope that its still league one football next season.

I can't see any other outcome at the end of the season. Both Moore and Ware have no role to play with Hurst as manager. Their contribution to date has been nothing but woeful. As Hurst assumes full control, they must feel like spare parts. Their combined salaries would be able to pay for a couple of reasonably decent players.

As we know in life, theory sometimes doesn’t count for much.

If players want to be here next season they better start to impress Hursty in the next 2 months. He certainly wasn’t impressed with what he saw last night that’s for sure.

How manys out of contract.....they can all go.....start afresh Probably many of those signed by the DOF are here for longer than just 12 months, so will end up being paid up. More expense for the club from the DOF who signed mainly duffers.

How manys out of contract.....they can all go.....start afresh Burgoyne Marosi Nurse Flanagan Dunkley (1 year option) Pierre Bennett Sobowale (1 year option) Sraha (1 year option) Benning Bayliss (1 year option) Udoh Bowman O'Brien Amazingly, Mata is under contract until 2026, as is Idowu!

How manys out of contract.....they can all go.....start afresh Based on the squad as it stands thread I make it to be the following (excluding loans and youth players) Out of contract
Harry Burgoyne Marko Marosi Tom Flanagan Chey Dunkley (Extra Year Option) Arron Pierre Elliot Bennett Tunmise Sobowale (Extra Year Option) Jason Sraha (Extra Year Option) Mal Benning Tom Bayliss (Extra Year Option) Daniel Udoh Ryan Bowman Aiden O'Brien Under Contract
George Nurse Morgan Feeney Jordan Shipley Carl Winchester Taylor Perry Roland Idowu Tom Bloxham Max Mata So 8 under contract and at least 3 of them (Mata, Idowu & Perry) are likely to be surplus to requirements and therefore will be paid off

More expense for the club from the DOF who signed mainly duffers. Add to that MM's loans - either injured and gone, or aren't up to standard (Kenneh and Anderson). More wasted money.

A few we could use and would look good with better players around them (Marosi, Dunkley, Udoh) but we could replace all of them with better imo. Well done Mr DOF,a wonderful legacy 😒

Travis Hernes, signed by MM out of the academy, a few weeks later a money spinning transfer to Newcastle.
Tom Bloxham, sent out on loan, bnought back off loan as a much better player.
Many of the other MM deals, yet to kick on, but still promising.
These things take time, MM could save/make us a lot of money in comparison to managers who sign far too many players or far too few expensive players.
Give it time!

I did not go to the Lincoln game but it strikes me that pretty well all football supporters have suffered through games when everything goes pear-shaped and the normal reaction is to say get rid of all these hopeless players. Looking at the bigger picture we do have a core of players who are of a decent League 1 standard and a few other young ones who have the potential to be a decent League 1 player. I think Hurst was told there was virtually no money to bring in anyone who could make an immediate difference in January and he has been left with an unbalanced squad devoid of quality in some key areas. I trust him to recruit well in the summer but it may well be beyond him to keep us up in the current circumstances and the rebuild might have to take place in League 2. Whichever league we are in I am sure the vast majority of us will be there next season to see what happens and to continue supporting our team through thick and thin.
