Disappointing result, felt we started rather sluggish today but had enough chances to have at least got the draw or maybe even a win with a bit more composure or luck. Another of those games where our lack of a decent finish has cost us
Other results went against us too - could have done with Cheltenham and Vale drawing and Charlton got an unexpected point at Bolton. Reading next week looks really vital to get something from now
Even my acca bet failed miserably today despite going for odds on bankers. The takeaway curry better be good to cheer me up

What to say. Just one of those days. I suppose we can't grumble too much, Wigan had one fall nicely for them whilst we didn't despite the amount of pressure we enjoyed in the second half and more so towards the end. On the downside we didn't start well and even with the pressure towards the end there was an awful lot of misplaced passes where if we'd have shown a bit more composure we might have created more.

Pretty poor until we made the 4 subs, looked knackered, slow and passive Saying that, it’s been a fair few years since we’ve seen a 15/20 minute onslaught at the end like that. No ides how we didn’t score 2 from point blank range, let alone all the other corners, crosses and balls flying around wigans area Perhaps the 11 needed freshening up today? A word for the Ref - don’t bother rushing back you useless clown. Worst in a long time Ref was whistle happy but he did not get a lot wrong. Certainly had a lot worse recently.

A horrible lethargic start but it felt like we’d rode out the storm as Wigan started the better by far.
Unfortunately all of the midfield and attacking players that started looked well off the pace, that collective lack of fitness showing again, and to the credit of the substitutes they all made an impact and saw us up the pace, but to be honest Hurst should’ve made some changes earlier.
It’s one of those where Wigan looked the better team, but we were more than worthy of a point today and I’m not sure how we didn’t score. League table looks absolutely terrifying.
MOTM Pierre. I continue to eat humble pie.

We’ll have to agree to disagree, 35 free kicks, 8 yellows, he was appalling and got a hell of a lot wrong

I never had a problem losing a game that was entertaining and one that we gave 100% and throwing everything at it last 20 , 2nd best first half but could have been 2/0 up at ht , subs looked lively including kenneh , hurst's clearly got him up and running
Maybe a bit of shooting practice this week

Agree that the refs are constantly frustrating but we can’t keep blaming them for our inability to finish/score.
Our right hand side needs strengthening and hope to see Bennett start next Saturday with Perry starting on the right hand side. Also feel that AOB warrants a bit longer than the 5-10 minutes he’s given. We’ve tried everything else to score so why not try him for a good 25-30 minutes?
I can’t bring myself to look at the league table right now!

A disappointing result, and yes we are in a scrap to stay out of that bottom four no doubt, but games against the last three, derby, Barnsley and wigan, were always going to be tough. Hopefully we can take points from ones such as reading, port vale, Exeter and Carlisle. 35 points so far. I think 5 wins and a draw from the next 13 would be enough. Here's hoping!

The type of performance that, for a lot of people, is described completely differently had we have been able to finish.
There is no way we deserved to lose that and we have won games playing 10x worse which I imagine will happen again before the season is over.
It’s just a sorry state that Hurst has come in so late as there are clear improvements and yet we simply cannot afford to play OK/well and lose.
On another day we win 2 1. Bugger.

Watched the last 30 mins plus injury time only. Thought we were excellent in the main. VAR would have given us at least 2 pens for shirt pulls.
Its still going to be a struggle to stay up though.

Hugely frustrating. A poor start but we deserved a draw. A set piece or corner looked our best route to a goal but the ref fell for it almost every time their keeper pretended he'd been fouled when under pressure. Strangely enough, that was a game where we could have used Mata's aerial ability.
Not sure we're getting the best out of Udoh as a lone striker. Perhaps we play him out left with Bloxham down the centre? Bowman is just not good enough. That attempted chest down when he was almost kneeling on the ground was totally embarrassing.
Hurst is definitely getting more out of them than Taylor ever could but we are still desperately short of quality innkey positions.

Bit unlucky to lose that. Pierre was excellent. Dunkley and Benning also good. Afraid Hinchy was well off the pace today. Perry and Kenneh looked lively when they came on. Ref missed a clear penalty.

I was due to be going today but unfortunately couldn't make it in the end. It sounds like the performance was a vast improvement on what we saw earlier in the season but we aren't in a position to celebrate good performances, ultimately it's another defeat and no goals (23 in 33 games).
Regardless of who you blame, our failure to bring in additional firepower in January is the reason we are right in the middle of a relegation battle, the 50 point mark looks a long way away.

The first 20 minutes Wigan were in control, Jones on the left right is a good player.
Town looked tired from a mid week game, yet they got to half time level.
Today walking away from the ground made me realise that most of the XI isn't good enough, I felt very sorry for Marosi who keeps Town in plenty of games until one finally breaks through.
Dan Udoh is the only guy with the heart to constantly run at the opposition. Hinchy was anonymous, Bayliss is weak, Pierre is clumsy (but he does have heart).

If we actually had anyone suitable to replace them in the starting eleven then Bayliss and Shipley would be on the bench. I really struggle to see what they contribute since Cotterill left. Both very skilful players but do not do enough . I imagine they'll gone in the summer.

I continue to eat humble pie. Agree with pretty much all of that. Town just looked off it for too much of the game. Think the impact of new manager and change in roles and 2 games this week meant they looked tired. But still some positive.. Pierre looks like a man reborn. Felt like he was running the team today. Benning impressive again. And yeah subs mostly did well. Putting in case for more minutes which is good but sadly meant they were showing the poor performance by many of they replaced. Remain lack of options up top though. Udoh looked tired, but Bowman did hardly anything. On another day town would have won that and feeling would be very different. But its not. And that table looks very gloomy right now

Well , what to make of that. Wigan started well , played the ball around confidently and looked a decent side . Matt Smith lashed at one second half which fell nicely for him and we are 1 down . We got to grips with the game and started to put them under pressure . Great energy and determination and Wigan didn’t look so comfortable . We were far the better side and should have scored but that’s us at the moment . I don’t think Wigan could have complained if we had scored 2 or 3 second half . My MOM must be Pierre who was tremendous all afternoon . Now , a few moans . The ref wasn’t the best , bit too fussy for my liking . Shipley needs to grow up, had a kick at a Wigan player who turned around to ask wtf was that all about . No need for him to do that . I’m no great fan of Shipley or Bayliss to be honest. Neither do enough for me and look well off the pace . Perry looked lively when he came on , so did Bennett whose a good player and Kenneh who surprised me , O’Brien looked positive and maybe deserves more of a chance . Looking at our squad we should be doing better , If we take that commitment and determination into the remaining games we could surprise a few. Are we too good to go down , well , the table shows we are in trouble but I think we can survive . Sorry but Shipley , Bayliss and at times Winchester really need to do better .

Can someone tell Hurst that Bennett rarely plays well in midfield but does a decent job at RB. Poor bloxham would love someone to link up with. Feeney tries his best but you can tell he is uncomfortable.

Feeney tries his best but you can tell he is uncomfortable. At the Barnsley game - I realised that Feeney is taking one for the team and having to play right back (he generally does as well as Benning on the left in my opinion). Winchester and Bennett are probably the only other two in the squad who could play there, Winchester is needed for the midfield, I'm guessing that Bennett's legs are going, though he was needed in midfield today for Hinchy. How bad must you have to be to not get in this XI.

Hurst has given us a far greater chance of staying up, but with every poor result I get more and more nervous.

Points under Taylor - 30 (28 games) Points under Hurst so far - 5 (5 games) Things havnt improved with the new manager so far then. 😟 I think that would be fairer to say after the next 6. To compare 5 games that included 2 of the best in the league with a return that came from facing every team in the division is unfair. Make no mistake, the next half a dozen are huge and ‘winnable’. I’ve no doubt if we played the same way in all of those, we’ll win 3 or 4 of them. However, actually doing that will be a test. Let’s see if they’re up to it under PH.
