First half was probably the worst half of football I’ve seen in a long time
Second half we were slightly better but still lacking any sort of quality. You always felt given their front line they would nick a goal, and never felt like that with town tbh.
We seriously lack an identity as a team, do we play in the ground or go long? As a supporter I don’t know and it seems the players are in the same situation.
Unfortunately a change is needed somewhere in the footballing aspect of the club and we need someone to stamp some authority on the first team. The football is god awful but I’d put up with that if it was getting us results, it’s not and on current form we will be that club that gets dragged into the dogfight
Over to the board…… Wednesdays SP could be fun

Taylor lost his job at Walsall after a run of 7 defeats...
We have lost 6 of the last 7.

This doesn't exist but if you could get a dominated central midfield on the ball in the middle, who would never scare of running at the opposition (Like Jon Nolan would do) then things might fix themselves quickly. But at the moment the team is playing like 11 lacklustre and unconfident players (Dunkley, Benning and perhaps Marosi and Bennett aside at times).
I see zero from Bayliss, Perry, Winchester and Shipley, Kennah can't go forward either. Bowman runs around for nothing.

I seen it months ago.....the midfield players aren't quite good enough are they.....I wouldn't go out of my way to watch any of them.....unlike Irvine,Hornsby,Daly,McNally Atkins etc...... different class I'm afraid 🤷🤷

I have been following Town since I was 5 (that is 65 long years ago) but I honestly cannot remember when a season has produced such a dearth of excitement and attacking play. My heart sunk when I saw the back four (all centre-halves) warming up and it was clear to me that the team was set up to negate the opposition and somehow nick a goal on the break. Benning is a decent lower league player who has been unfairly maligned on this site but something is badly wrong when he seems to be the only player going forward with a bit of spark and skill. I know Bayliss has been injured but what has happened to a player who was once transferred for two million pounds and then comes on and completely fluffs two chances to get a decent shot away. What are the players doing in training? When Flanagan is fit again we will have six centre halves but at the moment we have only one forward who is anywhere near to League 1 standard (and he is injured). What is going on with our recruitment? I have tickets for the next two away games (those are my two nearest games) and will go to both of those but, if things do not improve and we do not at least start to show a bit more intent and simple competence in attack I may well not bother going to many of the games after that ( despite the fact that I am a season ticket holder). That will save me the 160 mile round trip for each home game and be much better for my mental health than watching this utter dross. I have no doubt the players are trying their best and I would never boo my own team but they can dream on if they expect to be clapped off the field after a performance like that.

We have one big problem and that is our chairman RW, he owns the club, hires and fires and does what he wants, he is responsible for the mess we are in now, he doesn't invest any money in the club, he and his family will be very wealthy when he finally decides to sell, in the meantime us unappreciated fans have to ride the ego driven rollercoaster of RW’s football club, we have no plan, no optimism and the fan base is in apathy with the quality of football on show and the decisions made from the top down, we have little or no communication from the club and no real ambition.. I guess the sooner we accept the dross on offer the better.. Shambles!!

Fair play - I stayed back purposely today so I could boo loudly at full time - we can only drive change by making our feelings known, if we don’t, we risk relegation and possibly worse This is not something I do very often at all - infact I can’t remember when I last did. Enough is enough

And they have all the motivation...1 point off top with a game in hand... But imagine..IMAGINE if we beat them. Scenes.

Felt sorry for the players today. No lack of effort but ….. just not there, is it?
I thought we might win today, until I heard Feeney was playing as a wing back. “You hate 3 centre backs, we’re listening - we’ll play 4!”
It’s becoming a fiasco. We’re at home. To Stevenage. We’re struggling for goals. So we line up even more defensively.
Can’t defend Taylor any more. Who’s responsible? I’m still fine with the DoF/Head Coach set up in principle, but I think we’ve got the wrong people in post. I just want to see change now - the club needs freshening up, preferably with new ownership. Failing that, we need better on the football management and coaching side.
I was confident we’d stay up, not now though. It’s up in the air and I couldn’t say it wasn’t deserved if we do go down. But to be honest, I’d rather see us attempt to play some half decent football and go down than continue this endlessly grim and boring slog and stay up. I’ve no intention of renewing my season ticket at the moment - I go on my own these days and I don’t see much point in wasting time and money for a diet of continuous frustration and anger.
Do something, change something, please.
By the way, Mal Benning motm today by a distance. He was the player who seemed most likely to do something good with the ball. Our left back ……. Defence was fine, till the inevitable mistake that cost the goal, subs livened us up, some nice knock downs from Mata, feel sorry for Bayliss (he’s so much better than that), decent cameo from Idowu. That’s it.
Just want it to be over now.

I can imagine what happens if we get beat 4-0 !! Scenes eh👍😉😉 Some fans would boo and heckle, some fans would dismiss it as we were guaranteed to lose to them anyway, this board would go into meltdown, Taylor will come out afterwards and say we’re still trying our best to bring in some players. The script is already written.

Where was it where we lost with Jake King about 4-0 and fans were doing a conga at the end because there wasn’t much else to do? I have a vague feeling it might have been Peterborough but I’m not sure because I think we were behind a goal.
Can anyone enlighten me or did I imagine it?

" disappointed...i have spoke to the players...they gave everything today...its frustrating...when we give our players jobs to do, and they dont deliver...the fourth goal, that was Shipleys man...i've spoke to him...we had a chat...it was positive...Flanagans comments will be dealt with in-house..."

If Wrexham had smarter fans, they’d have sung “we’ll never play you again” last week.
They missed a trick. At least we were spared that.

Some things never change. I well remember talking to Jake King about his time at Shrewsbury He told me that in many cases players who he had discussions with , with a view to signing , wanted a fair wad as a signing on fee . Whilst the Town may have been able to meet the transfer fee the various add ons wanted by the player put them well out of our reach . It’s a funny owd world pro. football . To us a past time to enjoy , a welcome break from our daily grind hopefully . To players it’s their job which doesn’t last that long and so they try and obtain the best financial position for themselves . Cannot blame them , loyalty comes at a price. That’s why clubs like us delve into the lower tiers to try and unearth a gem . That’s why we have the likes of Max Mata et al hoping that they improve , score us some goals and make us some money . I still hope he does exactly that but unfortunately he’s feeding off scraps at the moment . The ball , excuse the pun , is in Roland’s court . Is he hoping we survive without having to chuck money at our predicament . By the way, that’s a good reason why our Management Team are going nowhere . Or does he delve into his “ stash “ if he has one to buy the club out of trouble .

Wasn't there today, it seems whenever the opposite goes in front the team capitulates and their heads completely go, perhaps the opposition know this as well. Seems Benning was strong again, I'm glad that Feeney did well too he's been hammered on here because of his distribution but personally his defending is good. There is a sheer lack of creativity, it seems the subs did work up until the point the goal went in. who said Feeney did well? He was meant to be playing RWB but spent the game within hugging distance of Dunkley and hardly crossed the half way line. Not the worst performance but if that was him playing well then we have set the bar very low.

Having calmed down a bit after another disappointing performance I really feel for MT. He has had at least half a team out for most of the season. Them players could have made all the difference but he has been really unlucky. We need to send the loans back (even Anderson who is wasted here if he is not going to play as we have too many CBs) and then get 5 loan players in.
Baylis is not fit, certainly not match fit and when he gets fit again half chances like yesterday will have a better outcome because he is one of our most talented players.
Hopefully Udoh is only a couple of weeks away from coming back.
Mata looked much improved yesterday, hopefully his time on the naughty step has given him the kick up the ass he needed.
Isowui looked good, reminds me of Philips we had last season.
As a stand alone game yesterday was not that bad, we was playing a team going for the play offs and limited them to 1 meaningful shot whilst also having the better of the 2nd half after a even (boring as hell) first half. If it wasn't for the pressure on home games due to our p**s poor away form then most would just write it off as one of those games.
Now is the time to sack off 5 at the back. It does not work because we have no wing backs. 4 2 3 1 is the way forward. MT you've probably got 3/4 more games to turn it around. Get banging on MM and tell him to get you some bloody players.

Was his last game before being sacked I think. I was there, conga around the big away terrace most of the second half. I popped out of it after a while to smoke a tab and got chatting to two Millwall fans who were groundhopping and the said it was one of the best days out they'd had, watching our gallows-humour way of distracting ourselves from the s**t football.

A few more reflections on yesterday
The most frustrating thing is whilst far from perfect, the games against Fleetwood & Wrexham showed some attacking intent & we created chances. Yesterday was going back to the level of performances prior to that, in fact the first half was the worst I've seen and was a complete non-event. Yes we may have had a 10 minute spell of pressure after the subs but what did we create? A weak shot from Mata, catching practice from a Benning freekick and then a shanked shot from Bayliss which was closer to the corner flag.
Whilst it's fair to say we are weak up front, the majority of our problem stem from our midfield. We obviously create little but even defensively the midfield unit aren't great. It's quite easy for an opposition midfield to cut through our centre and then the amount of times we are second to a loose ball is ridiculous
In terms of individual performances, I thought Benning looked good and felt sorry for Morgan, he's a centre back, he's . being asked by fans to charge down the wing but it's not natural to him. Whilst it's early days, Idowu reminds me of Sobowale, enthusiastic & energetic but is a bit of a headless chicken. However, at the moment it's just nice to have a little bit of 'excitement' offered by them

I know football is unique because a large percentage blindly follow, but if that was any other business or product you simply wouldn't buy it or attend it again after seeing what's on offer.
There's not a shred of entertainment, pockets of ST holders aren't bothering, the casual fans have dropped off. Wrexham was a momentum moment and we didn't capitalise on it.
RW is extremely lucky that we have one of the most placid fanbases in the country.
