Their fall from grace is a joy to behold - long may it continue and long may that mob suffer s**t football and being the butt of everyone’s jokes and mocking Brighton, Villa & Newcastle have truly interrupted the "big six" and long may it continue. Certainly enjoying what Unai is doing at Villa - top manager who was treated really badly by Arsenal, and good to see Villa back where they belong, big club in the second city

I've never understood why they don't have a set tariff of points deductions EG Go into administration 20 points deduction Overspend the agreed debt level 10 points deduction etc etc Can't remember, and I haven't checked but what did Leeds and Luton do wrong all those years ago? Seem to recall that the points deduction was enough to relegate both of them, did they appeal? There is a tariff for points deductions - sort of anyway. The EFL guidelines (not mandatory) start at minus 12, but this might reduce depending on how far a club has gone over the limit. Premier League apparently starts at minus 6, then deducts another point for every £5m over the limit. However, it was the independent panel, not the PL itself, that decided on 10 points for Everton and it says it didn't follow that formula. It simply decided for itself that 10 points was appropriate. Some have mentioned clubs getting bigger deductions for going into administration. Administration is a bigger offence though, because it confirms that a club can no longer service its debt and that its creditors will almost certainly lose some or all of what they're owed. Yet Portsmouth only received a 9 point deduction for going into administration in 2010. Liverpool twice breached UEFA's permitted losses, in 2011 and 2013, but were allowed to write off much of those lsses against stadium expenditure. Cruel irony for Everton that the PL is not allowing them similar leeway when they're actually building a new stadium, not splashing a bit of paint. I think the case for upholding the independent panel's punishment is weakened by them plucking their own deduction out of the air. The rules are meaningless if there's no sanction for breaching them, but I'll be amazed if the penalty isn't reduced. The appeal must be decided quickly though, or else it'll be unfair on every club that faces a fight against relegation this season.

Bit early to say Brighton and Villa have broken the big six when they're playing their first seasons in the lesser European competitions. You might be right about Saudi though.

United are woeful, Newcastle will be rightly disappointed they didn't stick a few more in. Home v United is one of everyones favourites at the minute, they're abysmal. Anthony Gordon, 6 goals & 3 assists, can see him being a late call up for Euro 2024! Their fall from grace is a joy to behold - long may it continue and long may that mob suffer s**t football and being the butt of everyone’s jokes and mocking are you on about Man U now or still running the town down ? hard to tell these days

About a murderous, medieval regime owning a PL club? Never crying about it, but never letting it rest either. Saudi United and Eddie "lapdog" Howe - up the Toon!

Back on topic it wouldn’t surprise me that Everton get their 10 points back and a 6 points suspended penalty plus fine. Reason being the PL came up with their penalty plan in the middle of the independent panel hearing on Everton and also the 20 million was because of building the stadium. You state that the independent panel didn’t follow the PL penalty plan but -6 points plus a point for every 5 million does add another 4points given Everton being 20 million over the allowance.

You state that the independent panel didn’t follow the PL penalty plan but -6 points plus a point for every 5 million does add another 4points given Everton being 20 million over the allowance. Both the Athletic and Kieran Maguire say that the commission didn't take the PL's suggested tariff into consideration, so that would mean it was pure coincidence. Maguire also says the PL were pushing for a 12 point penalty, so they weren't even sticking with their own tariff! He predicts that the appeal panel (which has different members to the original panel) will reduce the penalty and suspend the further points deduction. That would be sensible. A breach of £20m over 3 years is small beer by PL standards and about 2-3% of Everton's turnover in that time.

The fact that Everton are trying to place a lot of their woes against the construction of a new stadium is laughable. Admittedly the new stadium looks very nice from the River, especially at night when it's illuminated,but.. Why build it on a dock with all of the additional costs?, or drain the dock of water, seal the dock gates, fill in the mega hole...all additional costs
In addition it's not as easy if there isn't any spare land around Liverpool, even as you come out of the Wallasey tunnel and head to the left for Anfield or Goodison and up Scotland Rd, Evertons traditional supporter area, there are acres of land that were either cleared post war by the council or bombed by the Luftwaffe during the Liverpool blitz

You do just wonder if they would have been better off just staying where they were with its limitation rather than having the cost of a new all singing all dancing new stadium that will take many years to pay for itself.

Sadly no Dean Henderson for Palace though Can't remember so many ex-Salopians in simultaneous Premier League activity.

Liverpool had 34 shots, by B&A logic doesn’t that mean they played amazing? yeah of course it does, Liverpool played amazing and drew 0-0 with Man U reserves who had o nana in goal and defenders lower than harry Maguire in the pecking order, Liverpool had a referee in their starting line up and VAR if they needed it

Stats to me mean nothing at all....a team can dominate for 89 mins, then the other team in the last minute,go down the other end and score🤷🤷 I've seen it loads of times.....Liverpool were very poor,as they were against palace the other week🤷utd were poor...but had the better chances to win the game....that's how I saw it anyway 🤷

Salah was abysmal by his usual high standards. Can't understand the comments on the ref, he had nothing to do all game bar send off a petulant Dalot which him managed to do.
