Well we have signed as our own players: Price Pierre Benning Nurse Who are not all necessarily perfect but good proven signings none the less, we still have Nurse to come back next year. It has to be a mix of old heads and young legs, and with Bloxham/Sobowale/Tulloch going forwards we have something there I think. Looking forward to next season if we get past this one... That makes me wonder if that means Bayliss & Shipley are going ... No Idea - just looking at who was in or coming back from loan this year, some decent signings in there...

The out of contract situation is genuinely terrifying.
Anyway, let's just stay up and go from there, a disappointing outcome after nearly a decade at this level, but we have an owner with zero ambition so hardly surprising.

Not sure I agree - after all one Rekeil Pyke may be surplus to Grimsby Requirements and PH signed him to go there..... One day you will have to buy me a beer and explain your last line.

So what you are trying to say is let's just buy good players , there's only one answer to that , Why are you not the dof 🤡 No, I'm not trying to say that at all. What is it about ' clearly they won't get everyone right' that you don't understand? I could go into another post about why I believe the recruitment has been poor this season but I'd be repeating myself and it would be wasted on you.

Firstly and most importantly, Pyke shouldn't be anywhere near the football league, and his record everywhere he's been suggest that, yet we gave him a three year deal on £2,000 a week; utterly gobsmacked, he must've partied for a week when he got a three year out of us! He looks to have 14 league goals in 167 league games. Anyway, he's insignificant now and wasn't the question in hand ... Regarding the chairman's ambition/mismanagement of the club: Safe pair of hands:We're constantly reminded how the chairman is the safest pair of hands, we run a tight ship, without him we'd a Bury, or a Chester or Hereford etc. The debacle with Caldwell... I appreciate the figure is subject to rumour; allegedly £750,000 has gone walkies/been squandered under Caldwell. The chairman may well be kicking himself, be gutted etc, but it's on his watch that this has happened, how are we meant to believe the club is secure with him at the helm? Would we simply be a Bury without him, I can't see that? His record with senior appointments is woeful with Caldwell, Bickerton and others *allegedly* robbing us blind, again do we just take on board the club is safe and put this down to bad luck? Ambition:Most town fans will tell you the club lacks ambition, it's just how far up the scale they are. Various things point to this. I believe we'll be the longest serving League One club after this season, yet because of what happened last year on the chairman's watch, we're meant to accept that staying up is our only ambition and target? What's the target next year, or is it to just stay up again? How can Stevenage come up on crowds averaging 2,500 less than ours, still be 1,500 less than ours now and keep hold of a recognised lower league striker and be in and around the play-offs all season in their first season? Leyton Orient are comfortably top half in their first season also, with Northampton fighting out for mid-table and already safe. I appreciate that Carlisle are bottom, but we know the problems there until the new owners have come in, which looks too late. We're the lowest scorers in the EFL, we haven't won back to back league games in something like 55 games and many of our summer signings, some that we paid fees for (despite being skint?) can't get near the match day squad. It just feels after nearly a decade at this level that we've almost regressed, we've lacked ambition and we're in a worse place than we were 10 years ago despite putting almost 1,000 fans on the average gate. Hopefully the appointment of Liam is a step in the right direction with some young ideas about the place. The above is just my opinion, some will say I'm wrong and I don't mind that at all, it's just my feelings. I did say I'd reply, I'm sure I've missed plenty but it just sums up how I feel 👍

Because he is the DOF and has been for one season. and on target to achieve what we set out to achieve That remains to be seen. And the point of this debate is that it hasn't started particularly well. Pretty sure he himself stated that he is to be judged on more than what happens on a matchday, where we finish each season, etc. His remit goes beyond that. And while we are at it. This is not what I want to see us achieve. You might be happy with that, as might the club but not me.

We hear from the manager every week multiple time whereas the DOF is pretty much silent and behind the scenes so fans are left to judge him on results without really knowing what’s going on.

The only thing Roland is interested in is his ego and nothing to do with selling the club to a local person or where we are in the pyramid sadly If I were Roland I'd take out any investment I'd personally put in, put any physical assets such as the ground, training ground, land etc in trust owned by the supporters group and then sell the "club" to best candidate or consortium of candidates. He may well do the above, but I only see it going one of two ways: 1) Die as chairman, family avoids tax. Total unknown. 2) Sell it, bank upwards of 8 figures for a 6 figure investment. Total unknown. If you were a true town fan, you'd never in a million years do either of the above. I might be wrong, but suspect I won't be; however I'd be the first to thank the chairman if he properly protected the clubs assets and didn't walk away with fortunes he doesn't deserve.

The only thing Roland is interested in is his ego and nothing to do with selling the club to a local person or where we are in the pyramid sadly I'm led to believe he's desperate to sell to any genuine bidder who has the best interests of STFC going forward. In the meantime he continues to plough in his own money just to keep us afloat. He's been trying to retire for ages, a back seat and trusted 2 guys in the same way 99% of fans would have done. That really hit him and hurt him hard. His dream retirement plans are now on hold. I'm of the opinion only a true caring shrewsbury town fan still be hanging around doing what the chairman is doing for us and the club. as of yet, not one single person has publicly come forward and announced any plans to take over the club and how they intend to take it forward, not one.

If he drops his requirements to stay involved then more people would be interested, but as it stands you have to buy a club for a premium and let the old guy stick around poking his nose in like a bad smell.
And before the nonsense is repeated, of course he'd stay on for a handover period of 8-12 weeks, but this isn't what I'm led to believe he's demanding as part of the sale, it's essentially staying on indefinitely in some capacity which no prospective buyer will want.
