I’ve never felt this before in supporting since the early 90s, but we’re going down.
We’ve got a head coach who has failed in a lower division, and is only here because he’ll somehow accept being told what formation to play.
We’ve got a chairman with an unmatched ego who falls out with every senior appointment he ever makes.
We’ve got a Director of Football who failed as a manager at Barrow.
Our captain has seen this first hand and has gone to Wycombe Wanderers.
We’re going down.

If we loose Ships...Marosi and Bayliss then worry...as it is we will finish in 18th place.

At least have the decency to wait until August

I think I could manager this squad (with a few more squad players) and keep us up. Just take a breath.

We won’t go down with the likes of Marosi, Nurse, Dunkley, Feeney, Winchester, Shipley, Bayliss, Udoh, etc in the squad. But I must admit, I feel very deflated tonight. Leahy was one of my favourite players to play for the club, he can do better than Wycombe.
Need a big signing to lift the fans now, need to reinvest some of that transfer fee. Get somebody like Sam Smith or Luke Jephcott in and all of a sudden the mood lifts around the place.

That said, it'll be more the failings of others than our own incredible work I think. Wycombe at least show some ambition, they're a well put together side.

Every season we see just how truly exceptionally s**t you have to be to get relegated from this division. Right now I’m pessimistic we’ll have a good season, but to finish in the bottom four? Surely not

Give the new management a chance, and at least wait to see who we bring in before succumbing to relegation in early July. We’ve only lost Leahy and Pennington. Two good players who’ve made sideways moves, but hardly the end of the world.

As I say, I’ve never considered us relegation fodder in any of the last 30 odd seasons, even those where we did go down, and I’d love to be wrong. But I’m not - this restructure is a vanity-driven mess and we’re going to pay for it.

Wycombe have indeed shown some ambition by spending some of the £1m that they received from selling a key player to Bristol City.

Daft to call with any certainty what will happen at this point any year, but especially this.
Tbf to the original poster, it does feel like the first season in a fair few where 24th feels like it's theoretically on the cards. But so does replicating this season's finish, it's all a bit of an unknown at the moment.
And as Feedo says, while it's not a rallying call to sell season tickets, it's worth remembering how s**te you have to be to get relegated from this league. Turner, Mellon, Askey and Ricketts' teams were all different levels of poor, under managers who didn't really look up to L1 level and we barely spent any time in the relegation zone under them, let alone went down. The one time we did was that appalling side under Jackson.

Where does the knee jerk stop if it's not called out.
It's not personal its calling it what it is. Plenty of time before the season starts and after a day moaning we've signed a 30 year old, we sell one and the clubs gonna end? Nah thanks.

I’m skeptical too but I’m happier to hold judgement until October/November. If nothing else we need a new striker as the last 2 seasons have shown …

This thread is a really interesting read and understandably reflects the anxiety of many Town fans following a summer of turmoil at the club. The new management structure will take a while to get used to and can only be judged over a longer period than several seem to want to give it. I agree the managerial records of MM and MT do not stand up to comparison against SC but MM seems to have done a good job at Cheltenham as DOF. Also MT certainly had a tough first gig at Walsall who were a club in a downward spiral when he over and many very good experienced managers have floundered in that sort of situation. There are some positives - at the moment we still have a decent core of quality League 1 players and, assuming Udoh is fit, our best striker for quite a few years will be back. I think MT will put into action a more attractive style of play and that should be welcomed by everyone and give talented players like Bayliss and Shipley a chance to really flourish. I also look forward to us signing and developing a few promising players from lower divisions - an area that has been largely overlooked by the club in the last few years. I believe the vast majority of Town fans are both fair-minded and realistic and will want to give MM and MT enough time to put their imprint on the club -so lets give the new guys a break and welcome them to the club and we will see where it goes from there.

Yep, let's just wait and see what happens in the first 10/12 games, then cast judgement 👍
