As others have said Mordaunt is the only one at the moment that I can see giving Labour trouble at the next election, but purely because people know nothing about her I imagine. With an unknown candidate people can reflect their own projections of what they think the person stands for.
I'm still hoping for Sunak to be honest, seems like he'll be a steady pair of hands until the next election.

Penny Mordaunt says she would increase income tax thresholds for basic and middle income earners in line with inflation.
These thresholds - the point at which people start paying the tax or paying it at a higher rate - are currently frozen for four years from April 2022. This means when people get a pay rise they can be dragged into paying a higher rate, raising more revenue for the government.
That'll do for me. This is a totally unacceptable stealth tax brought in by Sunak.

After Pilch has threatened to expose my posts ridiculing the Tory chancers vying for the top job I have had a rethink and have decided , taking all things into consideration , that Boris the Magnificent is the man for the job. So, come back Boris , all is forgiven. Compared to the remaining candidates he is far and away the best alternative if he can be described as his own “ alternative “? Onward and Upward to those sunlit uplands it is then . PS Penny M is my real favourite despite Lord Frost putting the boot in , in favour of Truss . You’d think he’d got some of family connection with her wouldn’t you the way he’s carried on. 😉 but come on, you can't spend months/years doing all you can to overthrow the leader and then after succeeding moan that some sort of process is taking place to find a replacement

No mention of the Ghandi award then which kind of overturns any question of Corbyn's so called terrorism support. Or no mention that he was talking to both sides and liaising with Paisley. If Corbyn and the Labour party had come categorically and said they supported Brexit in 2019, Johnson would have got nowhere near the majority he obtained. I think we can judge him on his actions, his words as well as those he has associated with. Some award does not overturn that in any way, shape or form. And so he was talking to people on both sides of the divide, where is it stated from those involved in that peace process that he played a big part (or any part) in the peace process considering we have others who are quite clear that he did not. And if Corbyn and Labour had done what they said they would do and honor the result of the referendum I doubt Johnson would have become PM in the first place (nevermind getting himself a majority as he did). I'm sure there were a good many in parliament who were dismayed to see Johnson become PM but I hope a good few will take a good look at themselves and the role they played in getting him there in the first place. If those in parliament who tried to reverse Brexit would have done what they should have done and accepted the result of the referendum then I don't think Johnson would have become PM, I think the divisions now seen in the UK wouldn't have been anywhere near what they are now and I think remain would be on a sound footing to start the campaign to rejoin the EU (however, because of the amount of division caused in trying to reverse the result, people are too scared to go there because they fear they will only stoke the divisions further). Corbyn, Labour, Starmer and others didn't do themselves any favours at all. Let us never forget that the reason May's deal was not accepted was because of her own side failing to vote for it. To people's mind at the time it was a bad deal and Labour duly opposed it. After all they were/are the Opposition!! So we are left with an even worse deal railroaded through with the slogan "Get Brexit Done" And also never let it be said that in the lead up to the referendum the Leave Campaign stated that, as far as trade was concerned, nothing would change. if they had lived up to their promise it would have gone a good way to healing any divisions with no problem over Northern Ireland and a large amount wind taken from the independence campaign of the SNP.

In part, yes. But also because many others in parliament were doing their best not to find solutions or find compromise but to stall and reverse the result of the 2016 referendum. Which for many did ultimately result in a worse deal than the one available from May. I do wonder whether they look back and regret not supporting May.

And a huge chuck only vote Labour because Maggie closed the pits and their Dads and Grandad's have always been "working class"? There's a core on either side then floaters, the Tories have been appealing to the floaters for a decade or more. Labour need to work out why.

Based purely on that performance I'd rank them:
1. Tugendhat 2. Sunak 3. Mordaunt 4. Badenoch 5. Truss
It cannot be "I deliver" Truss, can it ? She is just awful and there was no thought to anything she said.
Badenoch was uncomfortably aggressive towards Mordaunt and comes across as a bit of a difficult character who believes that she owns the truth.

Results: Tugendhat 36% Sunak 25% Mordaunt 12% Badenoch 12% Truss 6% Truss comes over as truly appalling, so those supporting her must also be questioned as to their judgement. I strongly suspect that Team Sunak and Gavin Williamson want her name to be on the ballot to go to the Membership, as she's far less of a threat to them compared to Mordaunt.

Liz Truss recreated Margaret Thatcher’s wardrobe appearance from her 1979 election broadcast down to the last detail!

Steady to the point of sleepwalking!
Doesn't seem to offer much, but, perhaps unfettered by the one who shall remain nameless who he would replace, he might be a little more proactive?
