Yet another example of our esteemed PMbeing more interested in himself and revenge than the good of the party and the country. Never mind that Elwood is presumably a good chairman of the defence committee just when we need one. No it’s far more important that he’s upset this useless excuse of a PM by saying what so many of us think. The sooner Boris goes the better. yep, just shows the absolute idiocy of letting him stay in charge of the country for the next few months. unbelievable they voted to keep him on after so many of them resigned saying his government lacked integrity They rushed through the no confidence too early.

Rishi Sunak - 118 (up 3)
Penny Mordaunt - 92 (up 10)
Liz Truss - 86 (up 15)
Kemi Badenoch - 59 (up 1)
With Badenoch's supporters being mainly right wing, it looks like Williamson will now get what he wants. Team Sunak v the useless Truss. It seems that more of Tugenhat's supporters switched to Truss rather than to Mordaunt, which must be a severe disappointment to the latter.

It’s to be hoped that the Tory member ship will see how useless Truss is, but I suspect they’d be wooed by her Maggie impersonations, and I fear she’d beat Sunak.
She’s so wooden she’d make Starmer look dynamic.

As expected, looks like Williamson is on manoeuvres. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11031061/Freelancing-politicians-accused-lending-votes-benefit-weak-opponents-Tory-leadership.htmlThe Tory leadership campaign is embroiled in more accusations of dirty tricks today as MPs and campaigns are accused of gaming votes to benefit their candidates. Ahead of the final round of voting by politicians today there were suggestions that supporters of Rishi Sunak could have voted for Liz Truss to make sure Kemi Badenoch was eliminated. The former equalities minister, seen as a favourite with grassroots Tories, finished last in the fourth round ballot last night. In head-to-head polling she beat all the other contenders if she made it through to the last two. But supporters of Tom Tugendhat, who was eliminated before her, expressed surprise that the number of MPs who seemed to move from the One Nation candidate to right-wingers Liz Truss and Penny Mordaunt. The Foreign Secretary picked up 15 votes to command the support of 86 Tory MPs on Tuesday. Ms Mordaunt increased her share by 10 to sit on 92, while Mr Sunak gained an extra three votes to put him in 118, just shy of the number effectively guaranteeing him entry to the final phase. But one Tugendhat backer told the Times: 'From my conversations the number of people backing Liz from our team was seven MPs at most. There is something very, very odd going on.' Ms Truss last night warned Rishi Sunak against engaging in 'dirty backroom deals'. But her backers fear the former chancellor's team may try to 'fix' the final vote today to ensure he does not face a candidate from the Tory Right in the run-off decided by party members.

I am no expert on manipulating votes and gerrymandering, but something mighty fishy is going on when the exit of Tom Tugendhat and his 31 votes saw Sunak’s votes only go up by three. A senior source tells me that Sunak’s team, featuring Gavin “Dark Arts” Williamson and his tarantula, “is weighing up who they want him to be against in the final. And they think Rishi stands a better chance against Liz than Penny.”

It’s always a bear garden. I gave up when it was Cameron and Co as it was just like the playground at school albeit a very posh school.

You won't be smiling too much when Team Sunak manoeuvres Truss into the final two, leaving the Membership with no chance to vote for Mordaunt. I gather you are no fan of the awful Truss.

Sooner have Truss than Rishi At least Rishi promised to cough up 11% next April to pensioners by restoring the triple lock. Wish he'd take off the freeze on personal tax allowances though!

Woooooo, let's give all the richest in society an 11% pay rise and bankrupt the workers and small businesses by tanking the economy in the process. I'm not sure how it compares with Europe, but earning £12,500 and not paying a single penny of tax or NI whilst receiving all local council services and the NHS doesn't seem that bad to me.

Don’t forget that most of us paid tax and NI all our working lives and we didn’t all have well paid jobs either. Private pensions weren’t an option either for many at that time.
As with everything generalisations can be very difficult. While there are definitely some pensioners who don’t need so much, there are many who do.

Doesn’t mean he will keep that promise though. If he wins, as PM he won’t give a damn and if he loses it won’t matter either way to him because he won’t be in a position to fulfil it.

Looks like "our" Daniel has got himself a little seat close to the front, ready to luck some arse. Can't see any idiot in or out of politics giving Daniel a job, what a clown.
Got to be disappointed with the final two, some brilliant candidates came forward with some great new ideas, none made the final two.

I’m very disappointed. As Martin says some good candidates who couldn’t beat the Tory system and for me, two candidates tainted by associate with Boris.
It would seem the Tory party in Parliament have absolutely no bottle to change anything.

Well, they've gone back on other Manfesto pledges already, so I wouldn't be surprised if this became another. That said, there are 12 million pensioners in the Uk. That's 12 million voters the Tories need to keep onside.

The worst possible final two.
The least worst outcome now is reliant on Liz Truss winning.

So, to quote a Daily Telegraph reader, all this does is to ask the Members to rearrange the s**t in the cat litter tray.
As others have stated on here, undoubtedly the 2 worst candidates, and that in itself is a damning indictment of the existing Tory M.Ps for selecting them.
Truss has the backing of Rees-Mogg and Dorries for goodness sake!

As a Conservative member, I am extremely disappointed that Penny didn't make it into the final two.
I might do what 2 Tory MPs did today, spoil my paper.
As an aside, and picking up on the matter of the triple lock, I would not feel happy to receive an 11% increase come next April when my public sector (NHS) colleagues will only be receiving half of that.

They keep reporting on how damaging and bruising this has been. Absolute nonsense in my opinion. A competitively fought campaign is never damaging or bruising, but is in fact refreshing to see over this pandering nonsense and the normal "it's taking part that counts" crap.

Either will start as deeply unpopular and calls for a general election will get louder. But they have to be given the opportunity, 2 years until the general election is enough time for us to judge their competence.
I’m completely unenthused by both but it’d take a spectacular level of incompetence to make things significantly worse than they are now, starting from such a low base might even work to the benefit of the victor.
