The BBC still bleating on about the team not being diverse enough this morning but at least they and the likes of Keir Starmer can finally identify what a woman looks like. All it is winning a major competition! If the alternative was to pick the team who's skin colour reflected the Dulux colour chart and then we get knocked out in the group stage, is that a more desirable outcome for these imbeciles? There are 3 ethnic minority players in the England's women's squad and so the squad represents England's demographic quite well. I mean I understand that certain areas may be struggling with facilities and opportunities may differ from place to place but I gather that would be the case for all those children who happened to live in a particular area, whatever the colour of their skin. Pretty sure I was reading something the other day about an increase in those who are no longer paying their TV license fee, understandable at times.

There were also calls for the England womens team to be callede the lions when as far as i recall it has always been called the Lionesses . it seems these day somone is always unhappy or offended by somthing .

An interesting and surprisingly honest article in the BBC about the 'pay gap' between the men and women's game.
Of the £571m turnover that Man City mens team reported in the 20/21 season, 62% of that was spent on the wage budget.
Man City WSL team recorded a turnover of £2.9m with a wage bill of £3.3m.
Clearly without the 'piggy-backing' of the already super-rich Premier League clubs, the women's game would be unsustainable and any Football League club reporting the same financial figures would have the administrators called in and be subject to points deductions.
I'd have far more of an interest in the women's game if the clubs leading the way weren't already the same established, mega-rich teams that least need, or deserve, the added exposure of the WSL and can afford to humour a money-haemorrhaging women's team to be seen to be doing the right thing.
This is probably the rare occasion where an American style 'franchise' league would benefit everyone. The WSL can centrally own the contracts and the players can be spread among 10/12 geographically placed less-fancied EFL clubs or even original stand-alone women's teams.

Them Mens England team were promised a £12 million bonus which worked out as £461K each , if they had won im sure there would be an open bus parade and a bank holiday. im aware that the economic curcumstances has changed, the Womens team bonus was £55K each, no bank holiday , no bus and they had macdonalds and a night in in a pub lock in.
