Hi all Just interested in what interest there is within the B & A community in this competition? Off to a full Old Trafford tomorrow which will hopefully give it a good start 🤞

None from ne. Dont deny women the chance to play football at all, just that there is far too much other (& better quality) football to take an interest in.

Will dip in and out for sure. No excuse not too regarding the quality of football considering how I spend most of my Saturdays... And whilst I don't keep a close eye on the Lionesses I've certainly picked up the vide that...its coming home. Good luck to England anyhow...👍

England really do look like hot favourites. I’ve watched the 3 recent friendlies, the first half’s have been fairly tight and but England ran away with the games in the 2nd half… including a 5-1 win against holders Netherlands.
I really do believe it’s coming home 🏴

I’m also going to the semi final at Bramall Lane. Another one of the 92 ticked off for me.
Feel sorry for women’s footballers, they’re pretty much set up to fail in that they play on a pitch that’s way too big for them, and with goals that are way too big for them.

Definitely will be tuning in on TV. Not much of a follower of the womens game but sounds like England are one of the favourites and the new coach that replaced Phil Neville has advanced the team further. The womens game took a bit of a thumping during covid I think so hope this can reinvigorate it in the UK

Really looking forward to the tournament,we have a great team and a superb manager Sell out at Old Trafford tonight, no cynical tackles or diving. Slightly dodgy keepers and very few offsides equates to lots of goals...normally for ENGLAND...come on the Lionesses bring it home😀😀😀

We were definitely in suspense there. Thought the goalkeeper was quite poor for that goal.

Crowd 68,871. New record for a women's European Championship match. We didn’t see the best of the team but I’d rather start off slow whilst still winning and gain some momentum through the tournament.

I’ve been fortunate enough to get tickets for the final so I’m looking forward to that, I’ve seen the Lionesses three times now, once at Salop not long after the new stadium opened and twice at Wembley in more recent years. Whilst I may not have the same level of interest with it as I would with the men’s game, I can still watch it, I’m not one of those who prefers to make derogatory remarks about the women’s game.

Saw alot more passing to own players than in many Town games last season

I can still watch it, I’m not one of those who prefers to make derogatory remarks about the women’s game. To be fair from the comments I have seen from those who aren't looking to tune in its down to the standard of football. Which I think is fair enough. Some folk just aren't interested in football unless its a certain standard. I mean I'm sure we all have mates who support Premier League clubs who just aren't interested in watching a League One, League Two or non-League game because of the standard of football on display.

It’s not really about the standard for me it’s about the entertainment. I’d rather watch Wrexham 4-5 Grimsby than a dull 0-0 PremierLeague game. I do really like the womens game and will try and watch as a many games as I can.

I think it's entirely reasonable to take the position that you wish women's football all the luck in the world but at the same time wouldn't open your curtains to watch it if they were playing in your garden. It gets a disproportionate 'leg up' by the media - particularly the BBC who's guilt complex about the gender pay gap and the fact it is one of the few live sports it has the rights to means it is incessantly pushed in our faces to the point where men and women headline articles on the Sport page are no longer distinguishable. The inevitable fanfare of England winning the Euros for what will allegedly be its "first major trophy since 1966" would be laughable if not so utterly demented.

But I know some who wouldn't watch that in a month of Sunday's. If the standard isn't what they are used to with the top flight they're simply not interested.

Don't see a lot of ill feeling just that some just aren't interested because of the standard. I've no doubt that plenty will dip in later if England are doing well, mind. I don't think the leg up is disproportionate. Its England and Northern Ireland and as you say, the BBC don't have the rights to too many sporting events so makes sense they will look to make the most of it. And of course, they want you to watch (so of course they are going to advertise it as much as they can to try and get as many to do so). Even if you are football fan you might not know this is going on otherwise. And whilst the competition is ongoing its going to be on the front pages, why wouldn't or shouldn't it be? You might not be watching but plenty of others are (look to the attendance last night).
