I just hope SC can live upto the expectations of the fans. He did a fantastic job last year and the story of his battle against Covid whilst still influencing the team is really inspiring but are we putting him on too higher pedistal? The way some talk about him we can't but win the league but there's other factors that haven't changed within the club like our risk adverse attitude. Most fans expect a marked improvement from last season and that is realistic. I am not sure if many think we will be pushing for promotion. For me an improvement in the home record leading to a top half finish would do and surely when the squad is fully assembled that can be achieved. I suspect that the last few months of the season might have dampened some peoples hopes for this season. Personally I think we are in a similar position to last season, we will hard working & solid defensively but you wonder where the creativity and goals are coming from, and of course we have a very thin squad. However I'm certainly not panicking as there's time left to bring more players in, but if we havent added much though by the end of August then I expect we will be in for a long, hard season. The other thing to remember is we have heard of the club wanting to 'go for it' this season so you can't be surprised if people do get a bit carried away, particularly with some of the targets we were looking at earlier in the summer.

He is 32 and only 5ft. 7 inches tall. Cheers for that Barry. What's his shoe size? More importantly how’s the lid?

Sam Baldock could be a realistic target. He is a striker and was captain at Bristol City when Cotterill was there. He has been released by Reading. Has been on trial at Derby County Must have left a lasting impression on Derby. Appears to have feet - good ones.

There must still be plenty of quality out of contract players seeking new clubs.
Hopefully we will see a few quality signings join us before too long.

As I've clearly got too much time on my hands, I've had a quick look at recent seasons and I've had a look at signings made around or after the season has stated. As you can see, it's not unusual to have a bif flurry of signings as the window closes
2017/2018 - Season started on 5th August 18th August - Stefan Payne 22nd August - Omar Beckles 24th August - Ben Godfrey
2018/2019 - Season started 4th August 2nd August - Anthony Grant 6th August - Luke Waterfall 8th August - Greg Docherty 9th August - Ollie Norburn & Lee Angol 31st August - Josh Emmanuel
2019/2020- - Season started 3rd August 8th August - Steve Morison 16th August - Sean Goss & Louis Thompson 2nd September - Jason Cummings & Callum Lang
Season 2020/2021 - Season started on 12th September 18th September - Shillow Tracey 25th September - Leon Clarke 5th October - Mathew Millar & Jan Zumbarek 8th October - Dejan Iliev 23rd October - Charlie Daniels 26th October - Marc Pugh

The D3/D4 podcast guys, who know their stuff, have ventured we will finish 13th. I think we'll be solid defensively but I'm not convinced that we will offer a great attacking threat at the moment without another striker and a creative midfielder. Chapman was a huge plus for us last season with his goals and assists and we haven't replaced him or Goss. I'd settle for another 17th unless we sign some decent attacking quality.

Last season’s sample wasn’t designed for the long term.

Last season’s sample wasn’t designed for the long term. Nor was the manager in charge at the start of the season......

We’ve already beaten Cheltenham to Leahy, Nurse & Bowman this summer. Surely not another one!? 😂

Would be very happy if SC could bring in Louis Britton from Bristol City

I'd read it as exciting news about the Star's coverage rather than about club but I might be wrong

Or perhaps Lidl will accept ST vultures for sausage rolls.

Certainly fits the bill - only 12 games though so he could be due a goal sometime 😏 No doubt a few on B&A will pick up on that bit.

Rumoured back in January and out of contract in the summer - at Bristol City as a youngster under Cotterill, Torquay United goal scoring midfielder Connor Lemonheigh Evans Is this still a rumour that's has any credential ? Maybe now Norburn has been sold?
