As for Hurst though 😂 cheerio from the football league

I’m just pleased Barrow fans will have the chance to watch their team back in the Football League for the first time in decades.
Also pleased Cheltenham are promoted, always liked them.

Would also like to see Torquay make it back. Look to be putting up a good fight after a poor winter with huge load of injuries. Scored the winner on Sat in 9th minute of added time, tonight a little earlier only 8th minute. Absolute neck and neck in the top 3 on the National league Torquay, Sutton and Hartlepool. Just down to who keeps their nerve now.

Torquay’s late goal on Saturday was an equaliser, not a winner. It further troubles us to report that whilst the top of the National League is tight, it is certainly possible to separate the teams with a three point gap from Torquay to Hartlepool. Very sorry for Grimsby supporters. Always been treated well on our visits up there.
Not sorry at all for the management team.
Never forgive or forget.

Great fish and chips at Grimsby. I can’t hold a grudge like some, years of bitterness isn’t for me and although it was probably a fluke the season under Hurst remains a mostly a good memory.

Indeed, feel sorry for the fans and indeed Grimsby as a club. It's just the manager I'm overjoyed for. If PH rocked up at another club I would have similar despise for them because of their manager. Hope Grimsby make it back asap - once Hurst has gone.

It shouldn’t be ignored the absolute pigs ear that Ian Holloway made of things prior to Hurst coming in. He’s another name that people are always keen to see linked with our vacancies, seemingly only because he was a bit of a character in the Prem 10 years ago.

Yes I peeked on the Grimsby Forum last night and they seem to hold Holloway and the current owners to blame more than anyone.

When Hurst over they had 20 points from 21 games, now they have 40 from 44 so Hurst's record of 20 points from 23 games doesn't look good at all on paper. But, as has been said, the damage had perhaps already been done. It has certainly turned out to be a poisoned chalice for both him and his assistant.
Can Grimsby bounce straight back?
It is certainly going to be a test of Hurst's credentials, assuming that he will want to stick around.

He’s another name that people are always keen to see linked with our vacancies, seemingly only because he was a bit of a character in the Prem 10 years ago. Hurst had a reasonable chunk of time to turn things around and ultimately didn't, so it's a failure on his part. But in the same way I'd have blamed Ricketts more than Cotterill if we'd have been relegated his season, it's clear that the issues with Grimsby were there long before the new manager came in.

At least Waterfall is out of contract, so PH can get rid of him. Same applies to Payne.
Perhaps his old Club Gainsborough Trinity might throw him a lifeline.

Could we witness Mr Hurst getting Grimsby out of trouble whilst relegating Sc***horpe. I would pay money to see the look on the face of Sc***horpe’s trigger happy Chairman You’re not fooling us. We know what you are. Correct Geoffrey, I don't slaver at the mouth at the mention of Sc***horpe Utd like your good self. Hang your head in shame Sir

I see Southend play barrow v soon , I hope Southend win and stay up and barrow go down , barrow are the club that signed 9 players in January and then put 6 out of favour players likely to be released on furlough ( that’s the job retention scheme ) Barrow instantly went from my fav league 2 club to my least favourite the minute I heard that Totally sucks that does Would you rather Barrow released these lads onto the dole or look after them via furlough? They couldn't without paying up their contract. Having said that the rules do allow them to furlough so can't see the problem. Plenty of companies abusing the system by recruiting employees they need and furloughing those they don't.

The argument seems to be - "it's unfair to relegate us to a league which isn't relegating any clubs". That would mean no promotion from the National League, which seems just ever so slightly more unfair than the worst two teams in the EFL being relegated.
Take it to a logical conclusion and there'd be no promotion or relegation anywhere.
The submission is an embarrassment to both clubs; a one off, micro-version of the Super League proposal. No integrity, no dignity.

Both clubs are really clutching at straws in making this submission. I hope it gets knocked back otherwise Torquay, Sutton, Stockport and all can kiss goodbye to promotion to the FL.
