Can anyone confirm what age group are being called up in Shropshire now? A 62 year old relative has heard nothing yet, just wondered if we've got to that bracket? I'm 62 and live in Telford. I heard the 60+ group had been started last weekend (maybe just before) so phoned my surgery and told I was eligible though they hadnt got round to letting me know. Was jabbed Tuesday, others of the same age have been done this week also. You are told to wait till called and not phone, but the sheer numbers involved means you will wait longer if you simply wait. We have done an amazing job in vaccinating all in such a short space of time but the fact that they large sites are closing early in the day as there are no more coming in shows we could still accelerate those being jabbed even more. You need to start pushing for it - there is capacity.

Just an aside - I had the Phizer vaccine, as have several others I know. Had virtually no reaction, just the feeling of a bruise at the top of the arm for 24 hours.
Others I know who have had the Oxford vaccine have all complained of feeling quite under the weather for 3 - 4 days.
What vaccine have you had and any reactions?

Oxford one works better on over-70s"

I had Az and felt iffy the next day, like a substantial hangover. Fine 2 days after though. What a brilliant job is being done with this, and the Scottish study from last Monday shows the one dose recommendation to be proved right.

Both my wife and I had the Oxford jab and absolutely no reaction at all. As a doctor told me once about people who claim to have had a reaction from the flu jab, that most times it is pure coincidence as they were more than likely incubating some other bug. Yes it may be a reaction to the jab but you can never be certain.

You need to start pushing for it - there is capacity. Anyone eligible can go online and the system allows you to book (you don’t need to wait to be invited). GP surgeries have been tasked with vaccinating their know vulnerable patients. They contact them and vaccinate and NHS centrally contact the age groups by letter or text for vaccination at larger centres (the ones with capacity now) Seems the later are letting the system down by delaying the invitations which is why both Bucks Head and International Center have been quiet. Thats what I understand reading between the lines but IF YOUR OVER 60 GO ON LINE AND BOOK DONT NED TO WAIT TO BE INVITED.

I will check tomorrow morning to see if changed, as I’m 62. Maybe the system would allow me to book as suggested, but I’m not going to jump queue.

Yes it may be a reaction to the jab but you can never be certain. I am also involved in a vaccine trial. To get my Pfizer-Biontech vaccine I had to be unblinded. During medical trials they use a double blinding process where neither the subject or test centre staff know if the vaccine has been administered. One of the many benefits of doing this is to show the vaccine is working compared to people without a vaccine. 4000 people split into 2 groups of 2000 and they check to see how many of each become infected. If you were to tell people they had been given the vaccine then every little sniffle, cough or ache is down to the vaccine in their mind. It's known in statistics as confirmation bias.

I was unblinded from the study so they revealed I had the placebo. I was due to be in the 16 - 64 group due to my diabetes so I would have been due this month anyway. They have allowed me to continue on the study as I have a competitors vaccine in my blood. The data from that must be worth it to them

Department of Health and Social Care @dhscgovuk · 6h The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation has advised that people should continue to be prioritised by age for Phase 2 of the #COVID19 vaccine rollout. This will be the most effective way of reducing death and serious illness. We expect Phase 2 to begin in mid-April.
so the 40 to 49 age group 30 to 39 age group 18 to 29 age group are in phase two
so as long as we can keep the supply of vaccines at a steady rate and keep the various mutations at a low level this is good news also in the news today the vaccine minister said they had been making provisions for people having there second jab so no inurruption of the vaccine roll out would take place and there would be an increase in vaccinations in march. we seem to have gone from 60,000 people getting there second vaccine to todays number of 800,000 very quickly. so well dont to evryone involved in making this happen
the only disapointing news was the cases of the brazilian mutation and one person who seems to have left no forwarding details and they dont have a clue were he is.

On duty this morning at a Vaccine Centre when a very respectable gentleman came up to me and asked me if I had had the vaccine. I explained that I had it a few weeks ago as an over 70. Why then he said are you wearing a mask. It is people like you who are spreading panic around the world that masks will be required forever. I was a bit taken aback and am sure many on this board would have given him a better reply than I did.

We've been told if we continue to distance for a few months and be cautious this could be over/a lot better by late June. What do people do? Not distance. You start to give up with the human race after a while ...
