Whilst not wanting to put a damper on such a great all round effort in just 2 months you do have to question why many of the large vaccination sites in the county are only doing such small quantities in recent days. It seems other counties are also doing similarly small numbers. However good we have been in doing it, there must be scope to increase this, and we seem to have stalled a little of late. The vaccine centre I work at has been closing at 2pm for sometime now even though it has the capacity to open until 8pm which was the intention when it opened. It has now been inviting appointments on the NHS website so later opening to start next week..

Just this moment booked in, trip to Chester racecourse next Wednesday for first dose 😊 I’m pleased for you. Many are saying delay vaccinating the over 60 to concentrate on key workers. I had a follow up CT scan the other day (I've had fluid on the lung) and although I think I'm on the mend I'm still relieved to know that I'm now booked in for my first shot.... I would have started to get worried if I had suddenly been pushed down the priority list.

They only got them on Tuesday. People are keen to get vaccinated. They have no need to open this weekend. I suspect they were very cautious in their planning and have found it has gone quicker than they thought. The system is proving flexible.

Surely with ample capacity available it should be being opened up now.

From what I understand capacity is not an issue, it's the availability of the vaccines that is the key to how soon people will receive their invite.

And availability of the vaccine. We’ve been told by someone working at a vaccine centre that they have been short this week because some of their supplies have been diverted to London.

Jo whiley did not actually have the vaccination.
It has now been appreciated that LD people are more vulnerable and they are now having the vaccine. Her sister, Frances would like to send YOU a big thank you for all your heartwarming support. By the way, if you have worries still about Covid, get an oximeter, I have, cost me a tenner.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-56212515"People aged in their 40s will be next in line to get the coronavirus vaccine, Wales' chief medical officer has said. The four UK nations are doing this, under the plan to vaccinate all adults by the end of July. Dr Frank Atherton said the plan for Wales depends on "supply matching our ambition".

Most of my friends are in their late 50's - only one has received an invite and he is a registered carer living in Northamptonshire. One is a registered carer living in Shrewsbury and she has yet to receive an invite.

Regarding Pulse Oximeters, the NHS is lending them to people with Covid, but you can buy one off Amazon or Ebay for around a tenner. If you suffer a big dip in your Oxygen levels you are in trouble and need to contact the emergency services - early Oxygen saves lives.
Every home should have one. I've has mine about a month, should have posted about them earlier. The only downside I have had is the batteries that came with it are flat now.
The NHS instructions fo using it are here: www.england.nhs.uk/coronavirus/wp-content/uploads/sites/52/2020/06/Pulse-Oximeter-Easy-Read-final-online-v4.pdf

Can anyone confirm what age group are being called up in Shropshire now? A 62 year old relative has heard nothing yet, just wondered if we've got to that bracket?

How times have changed. Yonks ago, a hospital close to where I was working had just the one Pulse Oximeter. We were doing a visit there and talking to a Consultant. I asked what happens if several people come in where all would benefit from a Pulse Oximeter. He said they would have to choose which patient would benefit the most. We were doing a bit of charity work at the time, so offered to help the hospital out by financing one. Cost.....£3.000!!!

Still think we owe it to people working on the frontline, teachers, bus drivers, taxi drivers, factory workers to get vaccinated before those that can work from home. People who cannot work from home deserve some priveledge and we know where to find them, in the workplace.

No, it's one of the inequalities that have been present throughout the pandemic and it's shown up in the death toil. Our bus drivers, for example. have been thrown under a bus.

Jeez man, show some ingenuity. All you have to do is fake a heart attack on any street corner and you can have a jolt from a de-fib in minutes
