if Ricketts is going for a more attacking style of football and who who knowes it is just speculation. it will be intresting to see what formation we will go with. somone who can take a decent corner and free kick would be a welcome addition. In his salopcast interview he said the lack of goals last season was frustrating and it was something they needed to address.

IIRC Ricketts wanted McCrorie last summer, too, and it was between us and Pompey for where he ended up, so he could be another one we’re chasing again.

As much a I’d love Docherty - I cant see him coming back to Shrewsbury. Hull will be able to offer him a much larger salary which if you like it or not at L1 level is important. Hope the pull of knowing the Shrewsbury and being close to the chairman could help though. Fingers crossed

Rumoured 200k bid from Hibs rejected for McCrorie. And gerrard confirmed Hull are in talks regarding Docherty. So ultimately depends on money - McCrorie possibly within reach if cash is available, Docherty probably not.

By all accounts Docherty did well during his loan spell at Hibs. I'm sure they would have him back if only they could afford him. as you say if they could afford him, reading this article i doubt they will be going for him. www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/hibs-suffering-unsustainable-financial-strain-22196499"The coronavirus pandemic is piling a "substantial and unsustainable" strain on Hibs' finances as chairman Ron Gordon warned cuts will be needed. The Easter Road club admit " difficult choices" are being considered to safeguard its long-term future as Gordon called for players, fans and staff to come together."

Tbh I'm amazed many clubs are talking about spending money right now. We are in a very different situation than most given the financial management. Away from the premier League surely valuations of players and wage expectations simply has to fall?

As a supporter, I would be concerned if we were even considering paying transfer fees, especially anything over 6 figures. We are in such an unstable environment at the moment, things could easily get worse before they get better.
If Rangers think that they can get decent fees for these players then good luck to them but it wont be us.

Or Grigg...quelle surprise. By the way, what a masterful piece of sub-editing halfway through the Docherty story.
“We remain in contact, not just myself but Brian Caldwell as well, that’s just because he’s a good person and his family are good people (CAN SCISSOR THIS PAR)**.

I’ve heard Ricketts has offered a pay-as-you-play deal to Shrewder. I think his natural position is inside half but he’s fairly versatile to his credit.

I completely agree, utmost folly to be paying transfer fees unless and until we get fans back into stadiums. If other clubs want to take massive gambles, then more fool them.

There are enough quality players out there who wouldnt command a fee and would jump at the chance to sign for a financially sound football club. I am sure our manager is inundated with enquires from agents trying to get players fixed up for the new season. Its a difficult time for players out of contract. I am confident we will have a good squad this season and will remain in a good financial position. Dont want to see us giving money to other clubs. We have players who with a decent pre season behind them can really push town forward this season. I am hoping that our biggest problem will be holding onto the players who come good.

We've a sizeable squad as things stand so we can bide our time until the right players become available. We've 4 loan spots free too.

Away from the premier League surely valuations of players and wage expectations simply has to fall? Which does make you wonder why Omar walked away from an increased offer from a financially stable club? Time will tell if he gets a better offer at a higher level but it’s left me wondering if he’s been happy under the current regime (just wondering)

McCrorie, as mentioned above, has signed for Aberdeen, initially on loan, but then signing for them next summer for £350k. I imagine that would put a figure on Docherty at £500k or so, if not more.

You could be right, but with said i am surprised by the players signing for Chalton with the uncertainty there. Looks like Wigan will end up like Bolton with a small squad and kids.

There goes the chance of getting McAleny... Now that is a surprise, I really thought that he would be heading our way. New manager Harry Kewell has been busy. Bobby Grant has joined them on loan as well.

Bobby Grant has joined them on loan as well. He can't have had much in the way of offers if he's signing a one year deal with a club that finished close to the bottom of L2. The surprise for me is that he didn't get a better L1 deal somewhere.

He lives in Baschurch, so may want to head back down to the smoke. Strange that he seems to be linked with more northern teams such as Donny and Crrewe.

That is a suprise. If it was (all of a sudden) money bags Bolton with a three year deal I could understand it. It just goes to show what's available this year as he's to good for that league. It's just like any job offer I suppose at the moment. If you get one you'll take it !
