I'm still working on this Sheila. There are a couple of further areas of investigation which are possibilities. One is his connections with oligarchs. The other I'm holding fire on until further information comes to light. Jenrick needs to be kept in the firing line, otherwise this will end up the same way as Cummings.

Apparently that's common as you get older.

Excellent news, odious woman. Back on Jenrick - I knew there wasn't something right about it as soon as he first came to prominence in these daily briefings. Came across and smarmy and untrustworthy to me. Give him the boot

Having read an article about the sad death of Rose Paterson, wife of Owen Paterson , mp up here in Whitchurch, Mr Jenrick is mentioned in association with Mrs Paterson about an application for a hotel and 318 houses near Sandown racecourse. Mrs Paterson was very high up in the jockey club and it would not surprise me in the slightest if Mr Jenrick is not going to receive a Christmas card from his allay Owen.

Came across and smarmy and untrustworthy to me. Give him the boot There could be some interesting one liners about all of those appearing at the daily briefing. I'll start it off: Hancock: Working hard, but a little out of his depth and desparate not to appear so. Boris: I'll say anything to please, then check if it was ok with Cummings.

Raaab - thanks a bunch Boris you’ve left me a right load to deal with in your absence. Sunak - we'll spend money backing you all don’t worry but gawd knows how we will get it all back afterwards.
Cummings after his press conference - tee hee hee- I know things about Boris that would make your hair curl so I’ll do what I want when I want and damn the rest of you poor mutts.

'Having already crossed every red line in a desperate attempt to hang on to Dominic Cummings, Boris Johnson is now extending the same largesse to his housing secretary. If Robert Jenrick had a hint of decency he would long since have resigned. If Boris had a hint of decency he would have sacked him. But the Tories are now so compromised they just dig in and hope the country has a short memory'.

Rotten to the core. That seems to be the state of the fund raising hierarchy of the Tory party.
For the sake of the country the grass roots Tory people need to do something. It's reminiscent of the unions in the 70's. decent people in the rank and file membership, but a leadership that are taking liberties.

Radical planning reforms that would have put extra powers in the hands of Robert Jenrick have been put on hold amid the lobbying controversy surrounding the Housing Secretary.
The Telegraph understands that the Government was studying plans to take responsibility for some major developments away from councils and put Mr Jenrick in charge instead.
Ministers believed the Prime Minister would include the proposals in a white paper on planning expected later this year, and had expected him to reference them in a major speech next week on rebuilding Britain after the coronavirus recession.
However, after days of revelations about Mr Jenrick’s relationship with property developer and Tory donor Richard Desmond, Number 10 said the proposals would not be in the speech and are "not our policy".
Downing Street denied on Wednesday night that there was any link between the Desmond controversy and the decision not to take the proposals forward.
Multiple sources told The Telegraph that government planning advisers had advocated a system of development corporations, which would be set up by the Housing Secretary, and which would have the power to take decisions on planning that would normally have been taken by local authorities.
The development corporations would be able to buy land with taxpayers’ money, grant planning permission to build on it, then sell the land to developers at a profit.
It would have put huge power in the hands of the Housing Secretary because it effectively bypasses local councils.

Robert Jenrick, the housing secretary, is facing fresh questions after it emerged that he sat on the same table as a Conservative Party donor who is one of Britain’s biggest private landlords at a fundraising event.
Mr Jenrick was seated on a table with Bruce Ritchie, the owner of Residential Land who has donated nearly £900,000 to the Tories, at the party’s Winter Ball in February. Steve Varsano, the owner of a luxury private jet business, and his partner Lisa Tchenguiz, the sister of entrepreneurs Robert and Vincent, were also seated on the table.
Mr Ritchie, who is worth an estimated £200 million, donated £12,000 for the table and told The Times he “very much enjoyed” the company of Mr Jenrick at the event.
The Times.
Residential Land, founded by Ritchie in 1991, is one of the biggest private landlords in central London, and owns more than 1,200 homes along with hotels and Mayfair office buildings.

www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/jun/27/robert-jenrick-admits-israeli-billionaire-in-donor-row-is-family-friendLabour has called on the beleaguered housing secretary, Robert Jenrick, to explain a ministerial meeting with a “family friend” who had a financial interest in the future of a rival mining project that Jenrick was overseeing. The Guardian revealed this week that Jenrick met the Israeli billionaire Idan Ofer while the then exchequer secretary to the Treasury was considering a request for financial support from Sirius Minerals for a mining project that would have rivalled Ofer’s own firm Cleveland Potash. A spokesperson for Jenrick said on Friday that Ofer was a “family friend” and that the minister had notified officials, who advised him to step back from the decision on Sirius. But the spokesperson did not say when Jenrick recused himself and the Guardian understands he retained oversight of Sirius’s request for support for at least six months after the meeting.

Robert Jenrick overruled objections from his civil servants to push through a controversial property development for the Tory party donor Richard Desmond, it emerged today.
A Whitehall whistleblower has told The Sunday Times that the housing secretary rubber-stamped the £1 billion plan even though officials “begged him” not to do so.
In addition, he failed to inform his most senior planning officials that he had met and texted Desmond, a billionaire tycoon, when he overruled them.
According to the source, civil servants repeatedly warned Jenrick that the plan violated planning rules and was “70 to 80%” likely to be judicially reviewed.
But Jenrick told officials via text messages that there was “no point” in arguing with his decision to approve the Westferry luxury housing project.

How did the Tory party get from the party of the small businessman to the party of property developers paying £15000 a ticket to sit at a dinner with a minister and shake hands with Boris?

Yes, it's annoying that the Times is behind a paywall, as it's clear that they are in the forefront of investigations against Jenrick and others.

Where's the standard Tory defence squad on this board, they seem to be a bit quiet?!
Interesting Johnson is apparently going to have a reshuffle tomorrow, I wonder who is going? Surely Jendrick!

Now the worry is that they want to set up a task force to speed up building of schools, hospitals and roads. Sounds good, but can we trust this lot to build what's required without recourse to any funny business with the contracts? Building exactly what the country needs, in the right places? Not splurging it in areas of the UK they desparately need to keep on side, rather than doing what's best?
It could be time to dust off Corbyn's election maifesto where he was going to spend to aim for long term benefits and technologies we could export, copying any good ideas in there wouldn't be cheating. Schools, hospitals and roads are great, but they all incur ongoing public expense to run them. They need to be built in a fit for purpose way, energy efficient and with wprld leading technology, not just slapping them up lining developer's pockets.
