Surprise surprise. An example of the people in charge of the club knowing little about football and just appointing a name.

Absolutely ridiculous, they were 6th under Eustace who was on 3x less wages than Romney.
Nice work if you can get it, 15 games and a big pay off.

Birmingham City have done it before with the appointment of Zola. Feel really sorry for supporters of clubs with owners who have very little knowledge of football. This is not hindsight. Birmingham supporters were not happy when he was appointed.

That's going to be a very good payoff. Will soften the blow, and hopefully Rooney will learn a lot from it.

Don’t think money will ever be an issue for Rooney, but his credibility as a manager going forwards will be.

Good to see the club will now revert to being Birmingham City again by the media rather than "Wayne Rooney's Birmingham City." Another of the so-called Golden Generation (Gerrard, Lampard) who has made a complete Horlicks of a managerial job.

There are countless examples of great players who have not successfully transitioned into great managers. Many of the greatest managers/coaches have had fairly ordinary careers, or careers which have been cut short by injury.

Players who had to think about how to make their game better can relay that to other people

In the real world just because you are good at a specific job does not mean that you will be good in a management role if you are promoted to such a job. In football there is a contarary view to this until proven otherwise
Rooney doesn't have the academic ability to manage, having been through Man United media training he can express himself reasonably well on camera, but trying to get his thoughts and ideas across to lesser footballers is beyond his capability

Rumoured to have been interviewed as a replacement for SC Also rumored to have viewed us as not attractive enough when we were looking for a replacement for Ricketts. Which is true, but they didn't have to say it. Enjoy a L2 relegation battle, lads.

I see the Director General of the BBC......aka Gary Lineker, has demanded that a tweet regarding Rooney's sacking be removed. This has now been done.
Good to know who we pay our licence fees to.
