Here we go again. We play them 29th December. New manager bounce again quite likely. They had 2,400 for their home game yesterday. Any new manager is not going to have much money to play with for sure. Cole Stockton could be one player leaving in the January window, according to some rumours.

Went for our annual xmas lunch meet up with my uncle and family from Burton, they are season ticket holders. The Stockton rumour was mentioned but they hope a new manager can get him to stay, but said he hasnt done much in the first half of the season but then he hasnt been given anything to work with. They said they could have lost 1-10 yesterday there was such a difference between the two teams. The change of manager is much needed supposedly. They realise that they only need to put a few wins together in the second half of the season to finish above the bottom four as they agree the division as a whole this season is very poor apart from the top handful of teams. They also think that Cotterill could be in the frame for the new managers job. I agreed that he is only likely to work for a club where the chairman doesnt get involved in the day to day running of a club so he might be interested here. But I also told them of all the issues of his time here (small squad on higher wages, wont give kids a chance no matter how long the injury list goes, rude to people such as reporters and allegedly to some club staff, allegations of spending clubs money on things not relating to club business). Maybe it's just supporters talk but he did play for them years ago.

Steve Cotterill interviewed for the Burton job today. Is the bookies second favourite currently.
’Steve Cotterill’s barmy army’ could be making an appearance from the away end once more later this month.

I would think Cotterills wants in terms of budget and what is actually available would be even wider than when he was with us tbh.

Often wondered if clubs apply for references before they appoint a manager. Most managers applying for jobs will have been sacked a few times. Its a profession like no other.

Both Sutton United and Nott'm Forest dismiss their gaffers

Steve Cooper has been on borrowed time for a few weeks now, no surprise he's now gone.
As far as Sutton are concerned, I wonder where that leaves Aiden O'Brien?

As far as Sutton are concerned, I wonder where that leaves Aiden O'Brien? 17 appearances 1 goal should tell you enough. Going to struggle to offload him for the second half of the season I would think. Am I right in thinking his contract is up at the end of the season 🤞🤞🤞

I don't think Steve Cooper will be out of a job for long.

I remember Jeff Stelling saying the same about Steve cotterill Ideal hunting time for Cotterill.Christmas seems to have become a traditional time for clubs to sack managers plus he only has 6 months worth of paydays left with us Makes sense to get yet another mug chairmen to give you a 3 year contract now even if it means losing the money still owed by us SC is 60 in the summer so you never know he may have decided to retire,he's made a good amount of money from clubs having to pay him as he sits out his contract. Never a fan of the man nor his tactics but I'm in awe of the amount of money he has earned from sucker football clubs and their owners

Salford manager gone after losing 1-5 at home to Tranmere. They’re 4th from bottom, love it if they got relegated.

SC would fit the bill at Salford. Not a very nice football club.

They definitely haven't found the right formula despite the money and often good quality players for that level. What about Dean Holden? Know he's quite well regarded, and is very keen judging on a podcast I listened to a few weeks ago. And he's a Salford lad that I think still lives there

Be happy if they take either Forest Green or Sutton with them as well.

Could be an eye opener for the overseas owners of a certain Welsh club. Money will take you so far. That reality dawned on the Doc Martin bloke who invested heavily in Rushden and Diamonds until they peaked and started to tumble. A bit like a mushroom then - here today, gone tomorrow. A bit like their stadium which no longer exists.

Basically most of them buy their way and rise above their natural level. Once the sugar daddy goes they are likely to fall back down. I dont think they bring anything to the FL.

Maybe but at least they would have risen and would have seen some success. I mean a lot of clubs have been to the Championship and then passed us again heading back to the 4th but at least they had a stint in the 2nd. When I look to our situation for example I suspect if things continue as they are we'll be back in the 4th at some point anyhow yet having done naught at this level other than one season in the play offs. And I understand its all relative to the size of the club, to the support and the level you aspire to and I appreciate Wrexham isn't the biggest of places either but now they seem to have sorted themselves out you would expect them to be well placed to compete at our level now (I mean looking to their attendances of late). Easily done of course looking to their new owners but I think they have a rosier future than us at the minute anyhow. Be interesting to see how it goes for them again next season if they do make it up this time around (they look well placed to do so).

To be fair Wrexham have always had a potentially much bigger fan base than us. They can attract from pretty much all over a huge area of North Wales. And they do whenever they have had any success in the past. We cant do anything about the geography unfortunately.
