In the photo on the Shropshire Star link you can see Nolan is half a yard ahead of him, that says it all for me.

Not really. Perhaps Nolan started off earlier.

I’ve heard the goalkeeper coming in on loan is indeed Harry Lewis from Southampton. There is another club interested as well

Not including the first year pros, I make that a squad of 24 while JA said he was looking for a squad of 22. Does this mean we can expect departures??

Squad of 22 will not include the first or second year pros, this will reduce the number by 6 I think.

So basically looking for a spine of a team to replace Hendo / Abu / Godfrey / Carlton......fairly crucial to becoming a solid team. Some crucial recruitment for JA to get sorted.
At least the defence is solid....as we speak atm!

There is another club interested as well That makes a lot of sense as Southampton have Forster and McCarthy and have just paid Man City £10 million + for Angus Gunn. Therefore Harry is No.4 in the pecking order. Hopefully he is the 1530 hours signing

Harry was as of Wednesday in China with Southampton for pre season tour... wonder if hes jetted back to sign (unlikely) or the new signing this afternoon is a different player.

According to bbc website, Southampton are looking to loan out Fraser Forster!
Not sure if/how it would affect Lewis’ availability?

Seems as though all at the Meadow are tight lipped recently. Haven't seen many/any threads regarding players signing before it's been announced recently?

Noteworthy point: Harry Lewis has returned to the Shrewsbury area, according to his Instagram at least.

There is another club interested as well It would be lovely to see Ken Mulhearns grandson come back to Shrewsbury and be successful but I do not think he is on a par with Deano Henderson as yet, from what I have read and been told fby friends in the Southampton area. His loan spell at Dundee Utd resulted in them bringing in another keeper and Harry being on the bench. The Dundee Utd fans nicknamed him 'bombscare' and don't want to see him back which may be a bit harsh. Remember that is Scottish Championship not Scottish Premier league. He is a tall lad and football coaches in the know obviously rate him so hopefully that loan spell in Scotland has been part of the learning curve for him. But would part of that learning process be coming here as a number two ? Maybe!

Luke O'Nien. One of only a couple of ball players in the Wycombe team that gained promotion from League Two. Perfect fit alongside Nolan, if we keep him.

Well it won't be Jonathan Bond, he's signed a two year deal at WBA - likely to be warming the bench, although it was a free transfer - I wonder if that was one Town could have gone for?

Someone mentioned a while ago that we should sign Danny Lloyd from Peterborough. Well he's one we can forget,he has signed for Salford City on a 3yr contract for an undisclosed fee. They appear to be throwing serious money at getting into the Football League.

Head of player recruitment, ticket office manager and a head of finance. Not sure if anyone at the club as told JA but I think we need two keeper's, nothing major!

Agreed. Keepers would be the priority but I suspect and hope JA is working on this in his own quiet way.

The easiest thing the management team could do is panic and sign a couple of deadbeats like Ivor Droptit. Then when they don't come up to scratch, every Juan would chew 'is yed off. No panic signings from Mr Askey.
I think a few of you underestimate our new leader.

I guess until he lands any of his permanent or season long loan targets he needs to keep his options open with out of contract trialists. They only risk, is the trialists look elsewhere if Salop don't decide to sign them any time soon. As per the quote in today's Star after yesterday's game, it is and will always be for Salop, a waiting game - “We still have our irons in the fire,” Askey said. “We’re waiting for one or two to drop. “It’ll take other clubs letting players out and one or two being sold for the wheels to get in motion and then it filters down to ourselves.” www.shropshirestar.com/sport/football/shrewsbury-town-fc/2018/07/18/shrewsbury-town-trialists-are-impressing-john-askey/So although we want to see signings made sooner, the club is rightly so, holding out for who they feel they realistically get. Similarly to last season, players signed nearer the start of the season and after it had started - Beckles, Godfrey, Payne.

Arnold spent last season on Gillinghams bench.
Why would anyone think he is good enough for the team that finished third last season?
Madness.
