Peterborough United have made a formal approach to Cheltenham for Mo Eisa. Cheltenham had previously valued him at £1.5 million!! While nosing at one of the Ipswich forums earlier someone on their reckons Hurst will be signing him and a league 1 central defender next week. they better have deep pockets as a number of championship teams are after him, he signed a new contract last year(i know that means nothing)

Jorge Grant is reportedly to be very much in demand. Apparently we are one of the interested clubs. Gone to Luton - Season Loan

Given that we lost two weeks due to the playoffs, a week finding a new manager, then his holiday and now with the squad being in Spain for a week, it does seem we have lost a lot of potential meeting/greeting/negotiation time?!

Since the days of Jamo and his accurately forecast TWOTS who on this board has correctly forecast names of incoming players? This thread is all conjecture. Who is to say that the club havent been busy in the transfer market? Its not all down to the manager and his assistant. Things can still happen. Maybe its the lack of news that makes people itchy. Some clubs are quick to publish their interest in a player, Shrewsbury do not. If Shrewsbury find a rough diamond they dont want to tip off other clubs and potentially lose out. Thats why the first we know is when the player has signed on the dotted line.

Thats why the first we know is when the player has signed on the dotted line. Point taken. But if I was going into a new job, I’d 100% want to meet the manager/boss who I’d be working for. I have no doubt that there have been negotiations ongoing, but surely any potential signings, be it existing players or new recruits, would want face to face meetings with the person who will ultimately decide on their role within the setup?? They’d have to gauge what their perceived role would be, how they fit in with playing style, would they likely be starting XI or more of a squad player etc? It just seems that, whether it be his fault or not (and I’m not suggesting for one minute it is), Mr Askey has been less available than would have been ideal- up until now!

So... what's actually happened so far? Am a bit out of the loop what with the World Cup and all that. Just the forward with the difficult name and the left back from Coventry? Or have I missed any signings? Do we even have a keeper yet, other than the trialist?

We might miss out on a few potentials, but I think having an intensive period away with new manager and back room staff will work out well. There is no better way to find out about the squad, and he can then come back and plug any holes he thinks we have. Hopefully by using his experience in the lower leagues to unearth the young hungry players we like, topped off by a couple of loan players.

Lots of clubs are out at training camps, so I imagine it is quite normal and accepted by players and coaching staff that conversations may have to be had over the phone with manager and / or player abroad with their club(s).

Could be a big week with them back from Spain though. PH, and I would think most managers, like to get the squad gelled together, so if there are to be any Nolan/Toto cash splurges, than it should happen soon. And if we receive a record fee for anyone then I reckon we will spend a record fee on someone.
Hope Nolan/Toto enjoyed pre-season Spain along with everyone else and that they trust JA to keep Shrewsbury outperforming and being THE plasce to be.

Shame about Jorge Grant - although he's a Nolan type midfielder and as long as Nolan stays and plays that's okay. By the looks of the signings it could be a very open league next season.
As long as town get two keepers in soon they have a competitive XI - but I'd like a few more in before the pre season is out.

Wants another 5 for senior squad of 22. Not keen on too many loan players.

Only problem with getting the five in is he's still struggling to work out how to get a outside line on his office fone. Ticket office staff would help but Can't as they are still counting paperclips.

Wonder what the chances of Harry Lewis or Freddie Woodman on loan?

Listening to JA's update on ifollow - the three trialists that went to Spain won't be considered going forward. 4/5 new trialists in this week.
Targeting 5 or 6 more players - 2 keepers, midfielders and another striker.

A fee? For a 31 year old? 32 in January. 5 years ago, yea, but not now.

Some clubs are splashing out £99million on 33 year olds.

He's probably been reading some of the comments about him on here If he has, then good. Look at his disciplinary record. Dreadful. And no way should we be even considering paying a fee for a 31 year old with no resale value. Peterborough have a cheek to even ask for a fee, but then they've seen us coming before (Tyrone Barnett).
