With John Askey as our new leader...... who would you like to see him bring in,
Mitch Hancox at Macclesfield - LB (LWB) has scored 13 goals in 39 apps. Only 24 and is out of contract. Ex Birmingham City youth player?
Scott Wilson also Macclesfield - Clubs top scorer with 14 in 35, out of contract also.
Who do you want?

Know nothing of Macclesfield squad other than stats so can't comment. Askey will know who may be good enough to step higher up though so have to trust him on that one.

if we can retain the spine of the team, then another goalkeeper , two more forwards who gives us more options than we do now, a defensive midfielder ideally who can take a free kick a right back to replace riley , it would be nice if we could get Godfrey back on loan.

We've got 2 RBs already. Bolton and Hendrie. Don't see it as a number 1 priority. 3 decent forwards are though! Plus another goalkeeper, 3 CMs with Godfrey gone and Ogogo and Nolan probably going and another CB (2 if Nsiala departs). So that's at least 8.

Striker and keeper in on loan, defensive midfielder as back up to Ogogo (if he signs) and a LB, that’s if we keep the spine of our team. Godfrey back on loan would be immense, but I can’t see it happening.
On good thing to come out of PHs reign is that clubs will be more open to loaning us their youngsters after the success of Henderson, Godfrey and Carlton this season.
I think Bryn Morris could play a massive part for us next season.

Dependent a lot on who we keep - Rodman, Toto, Ogogo, Nolan, Craig Mac. I only expect 2/3 of them still to be here come start of the season. But if we keep the rest of the squad, we mainly simply need replacing who has gone, including the 3 loan players who were huge last year. Carlton Morris would have been the only loan player i could have seen returning, but that won't happen now.
On that basis, i'm expecting an influx of around 8/9 - GK (x2 if Craig Mac doesn't sign), FB, DM/CM, Winger and ST (x2 depending on formation). and then replacing probably Ogogo, Nolan and Toto
Also on if we loan any players out - Gnahoua, Jules etc. and if Askey expects any of the youth team players to have any involvement, as they didn't feature last year at all.
Who we actually sign/loan is anyone's guess though.

We need a striker as no 1 target. Question is do we look to target a lower league goalscorer or go for one out of favour at a championship club? What we end up with will be an indication of our ambition for this season.

Possible strikers: name, (club), apps, goals
Christian Doidge, (Forest Green), 70 apps, 43 gls Jayden Stockley, (Exeter), 41 apps, 19 gls Mohamed Eisa, (Cheltenham), 45 apps, 23 gls
Or a combination of Eisa and Doidge/Stockley??

I agree and i would say that would be the minimum ,the reason i wanted another right back is whilst hendrie has not had much first team experience and he may benefit from a pre season training ,he has not impressed me but i am happy for him to prove me wrong

Re strikers, and sorry to go off topic, but I think people forget Payne started just 17 games for us in the league last season, scoring 11. If you double those tally’s, and he’s only just short of the magic 25 goal mark (34 starts) that a lot of posters are looking for. Admittedly Payne did make 21 appearances from the bench, but most of those would have been for 30 mins at the absolute maximum.
There’s no doubt Payne missed some glorius chances over the course of the season and other parts of his game require improvement, but with a good pre season and a little more confidence (something he was clearly lacking in the 2nd half of the season), we could have what we’re looking for already.
Back on topic... Hopefully we sign a couple more strikers (as I imagine LJL will stay) that offer us all something different. Under Mellon we had 5 very different strikers (Collins, Mangan, JLAA, Barnett and Vernon) and gave us opportunities to mix things up as/when required.
I think we could do with a GK, left back, centre half (not sure Jules is up to it), 2 centre mids (if Nolan and ogogo stay) and at least 1 more winger.

I’m genuinely not sure if you’re being serious or not? Forest Green don’t need to sell as their a rich mans play thing. Mohammed Eisa has another 3 years left on his contract and is being targeted by Cardiff. If he leaves he’ll go for atleast a million. You need to lower your expectations on signings. Danny Johnson from Gateshead is somebody that I’d like us to go for.

Forest Green have only made a loss of over £2.1m this year (on top of the £2.5m they lost the year before!) www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.gloucestershirelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/forest-green-rovers-report-losses-1196303.amp

Scott Wilson also Macclesfield - Clubs top scorer with 14 in 35, out of contract also. only scored 14 for a club that topped the league two leagues below us I predict he will struggle in league 2 and has no chance in league 1

Danny Johnson? 13 goals 2 leauges below us, he’s got no chance and its not like we have no money, 2 trips to wembely and multiple TV games... could get us someone decent. Danny Johnson is a ridiculous suggestion

Just because FGR's owner is wealthy doesn't mean a player will want to stay if a good move's a possibility.

Very good player on his day. Would you have said Shaun Whalley would be a good signing a few seasons back if I suggested?

I would hope that we’d spend a couple of hundred thousand on one but with Roland, I think that’s unlikely.

Notts County reportedly paid £150,000 for Kristian Dennis from Chesterfield and he’s 28.

If we have some money to spend we can look to the Championship. Le Fondre is getting on a bit but would score goals in league 1 or even bring Bradshaw back to the club. Either of those two would work well with Payne.

Jesus lad. We ain't signing eisa. I'll take a few from non league . A couple of loans . Tom Naylor out of contract at Burton to slot the holding mid role . Danny Rowe from Ipswich (god forbid Hurst and he used to play lw at macc) and a whole dose of positive coaching from askey and assistant. 442. Play some stuff and just miss out on playoffs .

Nice touch in Askey's interview on iFollow. His phone went off while 000 was talking about players contacting him already and he said as quick as a flash: "It's Messi."

We should definitely have a look at transfer listed John Akinde from Barnet.
Also happy if he brought Diego De Girolamo with him from Macclesfield. Big things were predicted for him but just not quite happened yet. Only 22 still.
