Paul Hurst is gonna p**s it. And this time next year the Chairman is gonna be in the posh seats giving large with one or two renditions of "who are ya!!" and "you're not singing anymore!!" having proved to us all that their is life in the old dog yet. Guaranteed. Love it, a real laugh out loud moment

Really pleased we have a manager in place and ready to start getting the season back on track. Hope he is given time to develop his own style on the side, even if that means rebuilding again in League two next season

I hate the phrase "rebuilding"! It has only worked once for us and that was when MM first arrived. None of the good teams rebuild, they just phase out or sell on players they don't want and make a few new additions each season! I think Hurst should take a good look at the squad, including the youths and players we have loaned out, and then decide who goes and who stays. Hopefully he won't do a Roy Keane and buy only players he's worked with!

Paul Hurst (Libra same as GT) and Chris Doig (Aquarius) are both Air Signs.
Still not a sniff of an appointment for any Earth Sign (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn).

What a complete and utter joke this projected appointment is. From wanting an experienced manager with pedigree we opt for a former non leaguer who by the sounds of it the Grimsby fans are glad to see the back of. Some on here complained like hell when Bentley was in the frame but at least he's got more managerial experience than this clown. Sad day for our club and League 2 here we come. I'm just glad that 99.9% of true Town fans don't share your views.

''He inherits a squad that is good in quality but low in confidence', suggests Mr Whitfield (pretty sure it wasn't Jeremy Paxman , could be wrong)
Couldn't get a kinder, more generous (some might suggest deluded) assessment than that, could you?

In my opinion we will improve under Hurst once he's had time to assess the squad, put his own stamp on things and bring in a signing or two of his own.
But he'll be left with too much to do and we'll still get relegated.
Just can't see us making up the lost ground.

This is a massive task for him and a great chance to make a name for himself. Good luck to the guy!

Grimsby must be a comedy club if he's chosen to come here in the position we're in.
Anyway, good luck to the him and Doig.
Just the small matter of winning 15 or so games in 31 now.

We'll find out in a few months but I think we're definitely better than we're showing right now.

But there are also serious weaknesses, you don't end up in the pickle we find ourselves in purely by virtue of a lack of confidence.

Pleased with this appointment. The last 12 months has been poor viewing and the club needs a lift and hopefully he can give us it.
But not hiding from the truth, he has one hell of a job on his hands!!
If he keeps us up, that will be a fantastic achievement. If not, we should do well in league 2.....

pleasing he is an ex-defender and can teach our lot a thing or two about defending. Not only was Mike Jackson a defender but also was Kevin Ratcliffe (and we all know how good our defending was with him in charge)

Delighted with this appointment. A young, enthusiastic manager looking to build on a good CV. Hopefully he will provide the kick up the hole we require and get us out of our current predicament! It would be great if he was a roaring success and got pinched by a bigger club! By the way, was GT going to Villa in the 80's the last time one of our managers left for a bigger club?Sadly, yes. Indeed I think I'm right in thinking he is the last manager to leave us to join any club (unless you count MM), all the rest left to join the dole queue.

Yep, I think it's discipline and formation related and hopefully there is enough quality to dig us out.

Hurst will be the first to say that he hasn't achieved anything yet.
The reaction of some of our more fickle support will be interesting when we suffer a wobble. Whether it be this season, or next.
