Who has not been to a League match at the Greenhous meadow this season, and when was the last Shrewsbury home league match attended? Can I suggest we try and keep it to a roll call as much of the discussion is on the 4992 thread, thought it would be interesting to get an idea how many on this messageboard are or have become "infrequent supporters" ! blueandamber.proboards.com/thread/89757/4992?page=8#page=1

Chelsea at home.
Been to every away game since tho, except Carlisle.
Like many others, I'm put off by the whole home game atmosphere at the meadow, nothing like the old girl.

I went to the Chelsea match, and have attended every home game since. I've got plans to go to every home game for the rest of the season and also Accrington and Bury away. It's an exciting time to be a Town fan!

I admit to be one of the missing 770 - only seen one game in 2015 and missed a few prior to Christmas - also a lapsed STH..........sorry everyone

I`ve not been for a couple of years. I`m another who doesn`t enjoy the match experience and so I prefer doing the occasional away game and watch local football on Saturdays and Sundays. However, I`m thinking of getting down for a home match soon hopefully and bringing my eldest daughter to her first Town game. (She`s seen plenty of Sheffield FC and ladies!).

Managed the Morecambe game, but before that, I can't even remember. Way back in September - possibly Luton?

The last game I saw at the GM was the Blackpool one the day before we moved down south. Only game I've seen since is D&R hoping to get to Wycombe and Portsmouth. Maybe a home game in April if everything works out.

Got to ask the question if peope dont go to home games because 'they don't like the experience' why the bother to carry on thinking of themselves as a Ton fan Got to say there were years of much worse football in the late 90's when barely 2000 turned up, the GM had no atmosphere and the whole experience was dire...... In my mind I continued to go as 'a duty' to the team I supported and not attending wasn't an option so I think some fans need to either get behind the team or give up! (exiles excused)

(exiles excused)I kind of see what you are saying but equally people should not have to be forced into attending game, yes there is an element of loyalty towards the club but if people are not enjoying attending games then why should they continue to spend money doing so? There have been plenty of occasions in recent years I have felt like not attending, partly due to the performances but the matchday experience at the new ground isnt great even when winning. If I didnt have a season ticket and a big group of mates to meet up with before and after then I could easily have stopped attending

Match day experiences are all in the mind, just an other excuse, let's make the Northampton game special, like I will make the Exeter game special. FS

(exiles excused)This could be the root of the problem with regards to falling attendances...after the last couple of seasons in L1, I think many STH and casual fans felt that they no longer 'connected' with the club - we seemd to go through a plethora of loanees and therefore didn't feel we had a club and/or players of our own. However, as a direct result of the excessive use of the loan system we only had a core of about 5 players signed to the club at the end of last season, meaning the MM had to start from scratch pre-season and contruct a squad from almost nothing. This has maybe resulted in the likes of Woods & Goldson being 'thrown into the deep end' and playing from the strat of the season. Word needs to be spread that we now have a squad and team to be rightly proud of, and start attracting any floating supporters back to the Gm - whether that is via a offer on tickets or extra media coverage around town.

Quite agree that the League one 'effort' did affect attendances and continues to although things have change massively for the better, but rather than not go why not try and get things changed.... For some reason the club including Matt Williams see 'commercial income' as building 'corporate hospitality' and generally ignore the majority of fans (and even see them as an inconvenience) so perhaps with the help of the Fans Parliament' we can get the message across as to what the vast majority of fans want to improve the match day experience.....

I have a ST, I stand in 19 and sing all the pro-Salop songs (don't bother with the stuff between sets of fans too much these days, I'm older and more laid back), I have also been to 6 away games so far (hoping to make at least 4 more).
I have also missed 3 home matches though due to just not feeling like it one the day. I never used to do this at the old place but since the move sometimes I wake up in the morning and don't have that buzz for the game and it never comes. So whilst I have no problem with the move, no problems with getting there etc there is the fact that it does not for me have the pull of Old Lady Meadow with the packed pubs buzzing with anticipation, general build up of people down Wyle Cop, Abbey Foregate, through the Narrows, the charm of the place etc. It all served to always give me a reason to get excited about a Saturday at the football even if I started thd day without it.
So I still go to the vast majority of home matches but every now and the new place just can't pull me in when I maybe need a bit of encouragement.

in spite of being 200 miles away and relegation last season, I feel more connected to the club than ever before. I put this down to Roland's root and branch and his appointments of the dynamic duo MW and MM who has built a tremendous squad and is enjoying the fruits of town's most successful seasons for a long long time. I dare anyone to be disconnected from the club the way town are playing now..
Mickey may well take us up as champions, what an achievement in his first season. it beats me how anyone can be disconnected with town at present. well done RW MW and MM and MM Marvels, your extra supporters are on their way, and yes AJ has got his Toshiba back.
I intend to enjoy my matchday experience in April against Exeter with club hospitality, including a free car park place. it will only be a flying 48 hour visit but the Prince of Wales, 3 Fishes and the Railway Inn Yorton all have to be visited. to add to the matchday 48 hours. Floreat Salopis!

This is in no way meant as a criticism, but I notice that some familiar names no longer have the will to attend GM but still appear regularly on B and A. This would suggest that they still have STFC at heart and consider themselves as fans. That being so, I find it hard to understand why they don't want to make an effort to see their team, even if not every game. I know lots of fans of a club they just refer to as "United", who never go, but I was unaware that we had quite so many.

I loved the old ground , simple charm about the place but let's be honest . It was s**te . The toilets , the parking , the buffet bar were all s**te and the playing surface wasn't the best . The Tech end was uncovered and I well remember watching Town v Cardiff smoking wet . I liked standing on the Riverside but , in truth , the view wasn't the best So, even though I loved going , particularly on aTuesday night with my mates it was the team that really mattered . We got relegated when playing at the old ground to the bloody Conference .
Seems to me that a few have got the " it was far better in the old days " syndrome . What utter ballocks .Reading some of the comments stuffing kids up chimneys would be looked upon with a tear in the eye and a sigh for the return of the good old days. Jesus!
Agreed the "match day experience " at the new ground could be better but all in all things are much, much better.
The main point is our team is playing some of the best football we have witnessed for many a long season. They are on the verge of promotion playing great football with a "squad" to be proud of , not to mention a great Manager and Chief Exec . The infamous match day experience is , to my mind , added value.
I am more concerned with our performance on the pitch and rarely , when leaving the ground have I heard anyone comment along the lines of , " we played great but the parking, pies etc were s**te . In fact never! The performance is everything to me and that is what I go to see , our team playing great football . Isn't that encouragement itself.
So, to all those who moan like f.ck about the match day experience for Christ sake get a bloody grip . Get your priorities sorted .
I really feel like telling people who moan and bloody moan, blah , blah de bloody blah to f.ck off down the road and watch Tinpot United and see how that match day experience grabs ya.
Sorry , rant over .

Sorry, didn't realise suggesting that I enjoyed a home match Saturday a little more pre-2007 made me a nostalgic buffoon. We all look for different things from our days watching football. As a non-driver who rarely ate then or eats now at matches the parking and catering facilities are of little interest to me personally. As for saying the Gay Meadow was "s**te" well it all depends what you are judging it on. No-one is right or wrong but for me personally the location, unique identity, the feel - an abstract concept that is hard to quantify when put against cold hard facts of what facilities a stadium has - are what I particularly liked and miss. I enjoy trips to the new ground, value the much improved viewing lines, being able to get a decent coffee or a beer etc but my heart still ocassionally yearns for the atmosphere (not crowd noise but general buzz) that a town centre ground provided before the match and the things I miss from spending 2 hours at the Gay Meadow. Charm may be abstract but it does not mean it should be discounted. You only have to speak to fans from any other team who speak with fondness of trips to her.

Due to illness I've not been to see as many games as I would have liked so far this season.
Counting pre season friendlies to date I've seen Town on the road 5 times (make that 6 after tomorrow) compared to just the 2 at home. I actually prefer the away games, especially when they are closer to home and/or it's a ground I've not been to for a while/first time visit, eg this season I went to York for the first time.

Ah I see what you mean To be honest I prefer the away day experience and it's just as easy for me living in the north west to say go to Tranmere tomorrow as it is to go to a home game. To be honest though I've never really taken to our new ground even though I fully understand the reasons why we had to in the end leave the gay meadow.

Not missed a game home or away for 2 years, not missed a home game since 2009 when I was near enough a goner having a close call with Meningitis which caused TIA micro stroke just after Ben Davies had equalised when we played Grimsby. Before the game was finished I was in Hospital.
