would be nice to see them next to each other but whats the problem with buying an image anyway? if you have decided its going to be one , why bother commissioning one when there are lots of good stock images. it does look like a lion, not a bad representation. just checked that picture and the club crest are quite different you know, the craigclowan-school one has far more colour as ours is 2 tone with a pink/red mouth. ours has far less main. there are similarities too though.

This was used... that picture and the club crest are quite different you know, the craigclowan-school one has far more colour as ours is 2 tone with a pink/red mouth. ours has far less main. there are similarities too though. it's blatantly the same original design! i'm amazed you can't see it. further back in this thread you can find pilch's superimposing of the two images which should put it beyond all doubt in your mind. this sorry logo clipart tale continues to be an embarrassment... but hey, grant holt!

Don't forget that, among several questionable statements at the time the badge was released, the club claimed to have used a designer to draw it.
Many of us found that both unbelievable and extremely amusing.

I was told that Mr Brooks was asked to come up with a new logo,so he got a picture of a lion off clip-art and stuck the name around it. this was shown to the chairman who said that's what they would use.
Mr Brooks pointed out that this was just a quick example that he had knocked up to give a rough idea but he could do better.
on producing numerous other examples he was told that the prototype was the best and that is what we now have.

In that case apologies to Mr Brooks, although if I was him I would have disowned the process - the club used his name and it must have damaged his reputation.

I think he is involved with our programmes and they have been superb this season so he can't be all bad.

I can't be bothered with reading all of the posts on this thread, but I would like to add (if it hasn't been said already), so what if you have a clipart lion on your badge. Nobody would've noticed if it hadn't been mentioned on here. Aesthetically, I think it could be better, but why does it matter that it's copied from clipart, which is in the public domain for copying by anyone.

The town & borough have been represented by the loggerheads since the 16th century, it is part of the history of our town and by introducing the new badge the club disassociate themselves from the town of Shrewsbury.
Breathe on ‘em Salop by Mike Jones, contains a team photo from the 1907-08 season taken at the Barracks ground and the team are wearing a kit with the loggerheads badge on, some 100 years ago.
Can you imagine if Liverpool football Club removed the Liver bird from their badge and replaced it with a different bird for “commercial” reasons! The Liver bird is part of the Liverpool city crest so how come Liverpool FC incorporate and trademark their Liver bird logo while Shrewsbury Town say we can’t incorporate the loggerheads in ours?
The Loggerheads can be seen all around the town, it’s on your wheelie bin, lamp-posts, buses, everywhere! We are cutting the link to the football club. It is used by Shrewsbury rugby club, cricket, hockey and bowls clubs. You only have to look at the massive Loggerheads that was unveiled at Wembley to truly appreciate what the club was throwing away.
You see the Loggerheads badge and immediately know it represents Shrewsbury, our town.

Or asked the council what the deal is on using the Loggerheads. Has been pointed out before but the most recent loggerheads on some merchandise and programmes looked like 'drunk monkeys,' whilst the one at Wembley was as on the kits and used by the council.

new logo ----- cheap , shoddy , ripped -off , tacky , no history , lacking substance , no tradition , a piece of ten minute clipart ripped off a kids school , how classy is that .....NOT ! old loggerheads ---- familarity , tradition , recognition , history , character , you have to ask yourselves , Are you in it for the money or for what the loggerheads stands for , OUR CLUB ! ?

but why does it matter that it's copied from clipart, which is in the public domain for copying by anyone. history & identity - end of there have been over 300 posts yet you have managed to sum it up in those three words. the club have made a big mistake but unfortunately we now have to put up with it for a few years until the club use the return to the Loggerheads as a big marketing/public relations exercise without ever acknowledging the error of their ways.
