Maybe after last night, the club badge should be based on this design?

The roundness and the writing and colours work - it is quite eye catching - although dropping the STFC would probably improve it. I don't have a great problem with a lion - would prefer 3, but one is fine, it's just that this depiction of one looks cheap. The badge has been reminding me of something ever since I saw it, and then I realised what it was........ Link------> Club BadgeWhich proves that a strong round badge with clarity of purpose works.....but it also shows that you can maintain some links with the heritage of where you come from in the badge if you try. Link------> City Coat of ArmsI understand and support the need for a new badge/logo - but I just can't get away from the feeling that the club have come close to getting this right, but not quite close enough. Re: Bath Rugby. Thought exactly the same.

I don't like it mostly for the fact that the clubs whose badges I recognise most instantly are the ones who have kept a consistent element through the years. I would say the Loggerheads and Floreat Salopia must be retained and could be worked in the style of the Bath rugby badge too. We have suffered monstrosities like the Shrew badge and the vomit kit and I hope to see no more of those.
I would love to know the full facts of the copyright issue, but exactly how much revenue do we think we have been losing out on due to this?

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but I noticed yesterday the Old Lion Tap on Barracks Passage off Wyle Cop has a lion image that I'm sure is the same clip art that the new badge is from.

Well I like it, how many of you would've liked it had you not known it was from clip art?

Worst logo in the football league.
The creator should be thoroughly ashamed.

Well I like it, how many of you would've liked it had you not known it was from clip art? I didn't like it and I'm ASHAMED that my clubs badge had no thought takien in to it just boshed up in some photo editing program. It's a disgrace and doesn't even hold a light to the loggerheads badge

I wonder why there was never any comment from the club about the outcry over the clip art and the general criticism of the design?
Not wanted to admit to a cock up, in my opinion.

Just like on previous occasions, they will stick with it for a couple of years then make a big issue of going back to the old traditional badge

Could do a lot worse than copy Stuttgartershrew's avatar; same design, with the loggerheads replacing the sweet wrapper lion.

I just don't understand why the club did this without consulting the fans, of whom the vast majority (from what I can gage off here) don't like it one bit. We could have told them that and could have worked with the club towards getting something in place that the majority could accept (if not like). Very, very poor show from the club on this. I wouldnt say the chap who designed it should be ashamed, the club didnt have to accept it...but, for some daft reason, they did. I've a badge that I ordered being sent over to pop on my white shirt. I'll take a picture and post it on here, see what folk think...as I maybe able to shift more of them from eBay once the seaon starts up again...

I remember seeing the design at a fans reps meeting ages ago.
It is really difficult to decide there and then what you think. I thought it looked quite smart.
However, the clipart thing had not come to light then and that is a big factor. Without that I think people would be more tolerating.
But I also think as the large badges have gone up on the stadium and the logo appears on all the publicity etc I am less and less comfortable with it.
It does not convey our identity - which is the very role of a logo.

But I also think as the large badges have gone up on the stadium and the logo appears on all the publicity etc I am less and less comfortable with it. It does not convey our identity - which is the very role of a logo. the background to that meeting was quite important too, the rumour was that the club was going to ditch amber and go with white. had they not told us that they were staying with amber or announced it just before? having had that concession already and only really had a flash of the new logo, slagging the new design would have been ill advised. i also seem to remember them saying it was pretty much a done decision and it was just a preview. nobody went over the top either way as i think most people felt a bit surprised and probably would have rather had time to think about it. i would call it polite noises, that said there were a few meetings close together at that time and the may have merged into one. on the subject of the badge, i really dont care much as i have seen it change so many times over the years and i am sure it will change again at some point. i do think people are being harsh on the club. if you get a picture of a lion, it looks like other pictures of lions. we have been painting them and drawing them for thousands of years and any picture drawn is going to look like at least one of the thousands of recorded images of lions. using a lion in itself at least shows some sort of recognition of the old badge (i know some people say its a leopard but it is at least arguable that its a lion and the mascot is a lion too ). your point on our identity and conveying it is interesting, with all the changes we have had, what is our identity? can a logo convey it? would it be an animal ? I would like it to convey something but i really dont know how we would.

But Monkee...it was another picture of a lion they used. It wasn't something they put together that happened to look like something else. It was that something else. And look to each and every other crest of the 92 clubs. Do you see any of them using a piece of clipart for the basis of their crest? The answer is no. And we all know why thats the case...apart, it seems, STFC... -> What is our identity? Can a logo convey it? would it be an animal ? <- Perhaps something incorportating the coat of arms of the town and county the club represents? Errmmm... the loggerheads!!
