If you know the true answer, why don't you just tell us? Because if the club corrected every thread on the B&A messageboard that was untrue, false or factually wrong the number of threads would halve. But at least employees of the club would cease to come across as arrogant, petty, and sometimes downright rude...

Their home shirts are amber, that's right mate. But that doesn't make their club colour amber does it? why edit the post? what was the original saying? it is what is listed in the fl handbook as club colours, ours says blue and amber....

Frankly I'm disgusted by the new badge.
I think its such a shame that we are going to replace our current unique and charismatic badge with a lifeless waste of money!
It's dreadful, looks plain and tags onto Millwall, Chelsea etc.
Why the lion also?
The fact we will have a clip art on our merchandise next year is appalling. If this is still the case next year, I will refuse to buy any merchandise with it on.
The designer needs his arse kicking for ridiculing our whole club with an amateurish, boring badge that would make us the laughing stock of the football league. He should be ashamed, claiming to be a 'top designer', then producing something you could 'graphically design' on microsoft Word or paint. I've always believed in taking pride in any profession you do and couldn't bring myself into trying to con a club with a clip art image, frankly disgusting!
The STFC as well as Shrewsbury Town is shocking. What ever happened to 'Floreat Salopia'?! That should definitely have been kept. It should be 'Shrewsbury Town FC' and 'Floreat Salopia' if we were to get a new badge.
Why did the club insist on a new bade anyway? Trying to keep up with the modern corporate image? Personally I think our current badge is one of the best and most unique in the football league! If we use something like that excuse of a badge the 'top designer' conjured, up then we'll just be following the same path as other clubs, which could take away the personal, local feel of the club.
Finally, if this clipart does appear on our merchandise next year, I think a boycott of all the merchandise with it on would be worth a shout. I certainly wont buy it and believe that a bold statement should be made to the club about how embarrassed we all are by a clipart representing our club!

A couple of replies to your post mate 1) You ask why the club feel the need to change: Link------> Reason for changing badges - click here2) The poll on the new logo further down this messageboard shows not all fans are embaressed by the logo that you suggest. Naturally though I can't argue you with you if you believe the logo is poor, each to their own and all that!

Excellent post by “The Gun”
NOTHING in the new logo / badge is right nor correct.
Ian is being arrogant, and as he is probably the only one who can translate what we know in the internet age to those above, please tell them???,
Please do so - and quickly rather than toying with u?
xx
Thank you Roland.
I never ever wish to go to Tamworth again

FAO the gun
I see you are only 18, therefore probabaly only have lived through one badge that you can remember
What about the white background badge that arthur played in with Shrewsbury Town and a football on it that was used in the 60s, when the loggerheads were introduced were fans up in arms then..?
What if "floret salpoia" was introduced now in 2007..? Most fans would be up in arms saying what the hell is that latin nonsense on the badge for....?
The fact is no one likes change. Telford had to change their badge and people moaned it was like Jennifer Rush + Neil Diamonds FC.

Yes, for their kit colours not club colours. even though that is what is in the football league handbook which is filled in with the information of each football club. erm, ok then i'll walk away from this dicussion as you know far more than the football league.

Matt, I think you slightly misconstrue everyone's point - it is not about change nor about having a corporate branded marketable image for the club - most welcome income generation as it will help our club.
The two main issues are (i) clipart and (ii) a seemingly random choice of a lion

I prefer this and at least its not clip art Change and progression is good and although I like the 'new design' I don't think it's very 21st century and is easily likened to other club logos - However the Shrew design is far more easily recognised as having a unique look about it, is definitely more 'with it' and would in my opinion look 100% better when reproduced on any merchandising such as replica kit etc. There will be far too much embroidery etc with the Lion and it has to be said it is a little bit 'tat' and chocolate bar.

That I like. Far better than the actual version and far more relevant to SHREWsbury! It also looks quite original, unlike the lion, which several clubs use. shrewsbury has nothing to do with a shrew. good job you dont live in c ockfosters. yes but its our own original idea and i think the 'shrew' badge really is a good looking badge

I think the reason no comment has been made by the club, is because they haven't got a clue how to explain it without humilliating themselves, therefore they ae stalling & probably hoping that they wont have to explain it if they leave it long enough.

I like it.

I must admit, when I first saw the badge I thought it was pretty good.
However, after mulling it over for the past few days I have to say I'm pretty disapointed. The badge looks cheap, a nasty rip-off of Chelsea etc....
It's not unique and doesn't really identify with the club I've grown up to support.

I believe that any club that has two massive banners on each stand saying 'Come on you Yellows' and where their fans consider their main club colour to be yellow, that their club's main colour, 'official' or not, is yellow. We will have to agree to disagree on this one!

This is the first opportunity I've had to comment on the new 'logo' since I've come back off holiday and I'm afraid to say I dont like it. Why does the badge need to say 'SHREWSBURY TOWN' then 'STFC' ? Surely 'SHREWSBURY TOWN F.C.' then '1886' would suffice or how about 'SHREWSBURY TOWN' then 'FLOREAT SALOPIA' across the bottom? I feel the circular shield is fine but I would prefer to have the three loggerheads inside the shield (as re-worked by Burton Shrew') but even the 'Shrew' badge looks alright inside it..... Sorry but the new 'logo' we have looks too much like Chelsea or Millwall, we arent Londoners we are Salopians, and Salopians have three loggerheads on their chest not one

... but we cant trademark 3 loggerheads .......but its a truer indication of a STFC badge. Maybe I might grow to like the badge in time, the circular shield is fine, its the lion's head that I'm finding it hard to come to terms with, I keep on thinking 'Chelsea' when I see it not Shrewsbury Town.......
