I admit I am biased but the the way Ferguson and Dalglish have related to the media over the past week couldn't be more different. Dalglish (having lost to West Ham last week don't forget) has been laughing and joking with the press, Ferguson doesn't speak to them. Wouldn't be suprised if united still won the league but I think Arsenal will push them all the way.

I suppose United haven't had much experience at losing over the years, but its still a real shame they can't do it with a bit of class.

Nice to see Carra apologise for the tackle and wait for Nani afterwards so he could speak to him directly. Shame Rafael couldnt show the same level of class, mind you did any United staff say anything after the game?! what a gent he is a credit to the game will probably visit him in hospital too and sign his plaster no doubt ps heres the little scratch that also infuriated gerrard Link------> its quite graphic

Pilch. Liverpool won. United lost. It's over. Let it go. What was your opinion on the Carragher tackle and Nani injury? I've already said elsewhere. Carragher put in a bad tackle, should have been sent off, Nani's past theatrics and reputation may have finally caught up with him, a case of the boy who cried wolf. And Pilch, don't make s**t up, I haven't laughed anywhere, but you'll claim this is some sort of Liverpool bragging thread "and if Utd had won it wouldn't have so many posts etc etc", but when you're making every other word sticking words in peoples mouths its no wonder.

According to MATD 2, United said yesterday they would not speak to the press regardless of the outcome of todays game. Out goes the majority of "Scouse Shrews" fans on here having a pop at the greatest British manager of all time. Not everyones way of dealing with it I'd agree.
Watching the game today in Notts, you would have been excused for thinking you were in deepest Liverpool the number of Scouse reds I saw. Hold on...isn't it United fans that don't come from Manchester? Do me a favour!
PS - Up the Shrews and lets stuff Vale Tuesday!

So, all this anti-media hoo-hah started after a documentary on BBC3 about one of his lads? Lucky they never did one about Darren's utter failure at PNE as well then, he'd be having a TV & radio jamming signal pumped out of OT towards Oxford Road. He'll probably get the club fined for not being co-operative, then resign in disgust at the media, just so he has someone to blame for " driving him out of the game", rather than admitting he's just losing his touch and should retire.[/quote Please give us a manager "that's losing his touch" but can keep us in the top 2 or 3 in the league on such a consistent basis.

You'd need the back-end support team of coaches and resources to go with it. Ferg is the figurehead of the red machine, but just how much of it is still to his design, and how much of the current position is down to him, is open to opinion.

Was in Nottingham a few weeks back for the Liv v Chelsea game, amazed at the amount of Liverpool fans in the Hogs Head (they looked pretty rough as well). Nani's picture - ah come on that's fake. Link------> Nani pic scroll downYes, United stated before the game that they wouldnt speak to the media, I always make excuses before I know i'm going to do bad at something . .

Anyone who reads the comments on the page Pilch linked, check this for friendly rivalry:
"JJ any player or ref who cheats Man Utd deserves to die of cancer. The slower and more painful the better. The facts are that Man Utd are a long way ahead of looserpool in the league despite the refs cheating. Man Utd totally dominated the scousers and their manager said they have a long way to go before they can play the type of football Man Utd play."
Blinkered partisanery? Shurely shome mishtake!

Yeah, I guess that would set the tone! I'm sure both sides' keyboard warriors have equal merit. (I just quoted the first one I was faced with, there's only so many comments of that grade I can stand before wondering if the people behind them lack opposable thumbs.)

Everyone knows the 90 minutes on the pitch is not what the TV companies pay for, but the interviews afterwards. So why not just ban them full stop?

There is nothing in it, nothing in that challenge from Carragher on Nani. It’s just a media witch hunt because its Carragher. Watch the press. Right Fergie? Bad tackle that and I can again understand why the manager would just want to keep things mum and not speak to the press. He would only land himself in more trouble. However, a complete media blackout with no one from the club allowed to speak to the press?..

Ferdinand is reported to have tweeted, "Bad result today, no excuses". He'll get a bollocking for that. The official response agreed by the inner synold due to be related to the public by Comical Ali Phelan was "MUFC ARE GREAT, WE ARE ALL POWERFUL, THE BALL DID NOT GO IN THE MAN UTD NET, WE ARE STILL IN SUPREME CONTROL" (That was before he got the Shepherds Crook )

The thing I dont get is.....
Carrarager put in an awful tackle, there is no doubt he was going for the ball, no malice in it, but it was just a crap tackle, two footed (kinda) and very dangerous... he should have been sent off.. No liverpool fans will take you up on that it was poor...
However, he looked genuinely sorry for it, his punishment, and then tryied to say sorry (but to be fair Nani was having none of it) and then hung around to aplologise at the end of the game, which in this day its pretty rare to see a player show some compassion for another.....
The flick back about a week... A thug (thats basically what hes become) Rooney, puts in a deliberate, nasty elbow on a fellow pro for nothing, off the ball and gets a hug from the ref... does he say sorry or show any remorse??? No not at all..
Its fair enough Man U fans having ago at this and that yesterday, they would, the lost... but when you compare it to things like that Rooney Elbow... Im my view (Biast or not) It shows which club and player is the one that has a bit of class over the least week Regardless of both incidents being nasty...
One clubs season has taken a turn for the positive over the last few weeks, another is hitting a rough patch.... the reaction of angry man u fans on here, and the comical 606 last night is to be expected...

El H, some good points. One of the differences though is Carragher's age - you expect a bit more (immediate) maturity from a player like him than someone like Rooney.
Not supporting the Man U approach, but had the boot been on the other foot - as it was 25 years ago, you would have got exactly the same reaction from Liverpool as you got from United. Pilch's archive footage, where Ian Rush is outraged that the ref punished a waste high studs up tackle from a Liverpool, should be evidence of that.
It's pretty normal to have the 'everyone's against us' attitude when you're top of the league and everyone is actually against you, than if you are 6th in the table and pretty certain to finish there come the end of the season.
